"Acolyte, hyperspace is disengaged. We are currently orbiting the Kashyyyk System" the Pilot Droids lifeless gaze searched the void from the ships cozy cockpit. This was the ships maiden voyage to this sector of the Galaxy, the small vessels engines whining as they were given a momentary reprieve. They'd traveled 14 days on the Acolytes instruction, though he'd failed to give a clear reason why. RT-0, nicknamed Artemis, pulled up the regions specifications from a public database "Planet Kashyyyk is recorded to have 3 moons rotating around a binary star. Information Transfer complete" a list of the Planets Astrographical Information lit up the small datapad clutched in Iruuks clawed hand.
"Planetary Orbit in 120 minutes, Planet Fall in 150 minutes"

oie-jpg-1.png
The Protocol Droid remained seated on the seat surrounding the makeshift table, its boxed shaped head pointed in Isuuks direction "You rushed to get to this system. You've restricted yourself to two hours of preparation" the droids gaze lazily, but mechanically, tilted to the half empty provision cupboards. Before it motioned to voice further concern it noticed its Master staring haphazardly towards the Planets general direction. He was searching, and the droid took its cue knowing the Acolyte could still hear its advice.
"I will gather your items but supplies are limited. I advise you allow me to replenish the larder."
------------------

His consciousness reached out, long invisible tendrils seeking out something in the Force. The Acolyte was unsure what he was looking for, he had never experienced a unique ripple like this before. Amber eyes scanned the void separated by Transparisteel, and reeled back as he returned back to his physical body. Repitlian slits looked at the two other members of the ships crew, their messages heard in forethought "I apologize..." the next words were said within him "This one is different. And I don't know why". The Y2k-Series Light Freighter, stock standard and unnamed as of yet, engines ignited and set a relative pace towards the Jungle Planet. According to the datapads information a group of Sentient beings inhabited the World, the words rolling of his tongue as he struggled in its pronunciation. Mid way through his word Alphonse, the protocol droid, corrected him before placing a bag of items on the table "Wookie. I've packed you the last of our dehydrated provisions. Database indicates trade available to Port. I'll depart and resupply". Iruuk noticed Alphonses lack of programmed wit and banter. It was usually the case during these moments.

The light freighter began its descent to one of the many shipyards on Kashyyyks Forested surface. Iruuk mentally ran an inventory checklist. He didn't plan to return for a few days at least so he needed to be somewhat prepared. The attire he chose (or Rather his Protocol Droid] was a wrist to ankle covering of breathable cloth with a raven hooded poncho, offering vital protection for the climates tropical weather. The young Kaleesh traditionally wore a wrap which covered his dark long hair and ears. The plain bone mask rarely left his person.

A deep breath filled his lungs and his gaze wandered behind the thick eyelids afforded his race. He needed to concentrate to find the small unusual ripple which echoed in the Force. He was unsure what his actions were going to be if he found its source, but his Sword rested in its hilt and ready if required.

The tranquil sounds of Kashyyyk's vast canopy were occasonially interrupted by a soft grunt, or thud of a foot. Jago was moving through the trees climbing higher and higher, though even at this height the almost eternal dusk that laid beneath the vast trees of the planet was still present. The Nautolan Matukai was still amazed at the size of the wroshyr trees that practically covered the planet. He'd been here a few days now and he still found the scale of the trees to be staggering at times. He truly believed nothing like them existed anywhere else in the galaxy.

He landed in a roll and came to his feet on a branch that was about as wide as most major city streets at it thickest. He had actually managed to work up a sweat and took a seat to catch his breath. After a moment he simply laid back and closes his eyes, enjoying a peaceful moment after some of the recent events in the galaxy. Most of it caused by the Sith that seemed to grow bolder everyday. He'd put out the call to his own people but had yet to hear back from any fellow Matukai, not that he expected any replies to come that quickly. His people were spread far and wide and few in number. He knew he would just need to be patient, but that was far from Jago's strength. He let out a long sigh and put his hands behind his head as he relaxed.

His thoughts drifted back to the this wonderful planet he'd found himself on. He smiled as he closed his eyes as Kashyyyk was always a place he wanted to visit, probably just behind someday making it to Glee Anselm to see the home planet of the Nautolans and learn a bit about his heritage outside of the Matukai. As he laid there his thoughts drifting, he got the weird feeling that he was being watched. Though to be honest he probably was. Kashyyyk was home to millions of different species of animals of all kinds. Most the dangerous ones were closer to the forest floor, as the locals had warned him of such. He figured even up here though there were some critters keeping an eye on him. Though something, maybe instinct, told him this was different. Just as soon as the feeling came on it passed and Jago just mentally shrugged, he figured whatever was watching had simply decided he wasn't worth approaching. Just to be safe though he let a bit of the light flow through him as his breathing steadied. He let the energy inside him flow into his ears, enhancing his sense of hearing to detect any subtle movements that go too close. If anything wanted to sneak up him, it'd have to be very quite now.

The Small Light Freighter, nicknamed 'The Kraata' penetrated Kashyyyks atmosphere and began docking preparations upon the instructions granted by the local Space Port. Once the appropriate coordinates had been forwarded to the Pilots console the RT-Series droid separately rotated its head almost an entire 180 degrees, its lifeless white ocular sensors staring intently at Iruuk. "Acolyte. We have been granted permission to land at Rwookrrorro Station, docking pad 4-M. I will begin to forward shipping registration and necessary documents." Artemis turned his attention on the various screens in his range, his clamped like hands operating several buttons and switches to bring 'The Kraata' into a low flight mode.

oie-jpg-1.png
As 'The Kraata' neared the dock, the roguish Protocol droid uploaded this sector of Kashyyyks weather onto Iruuks datapad. The often cheeky and blunt droid, nicknamed Alphonse, briefed its 'Captain' on the locales forecast. This was unnecessary, but it had become part of the crews routine "Satellites indicate mild weather with expected showers from the east. Temperature is tolerable but humidity is something to be desired. Before you depart this time, do not forget your provisions. My circuits and joints are not suited to his climate and I don't want to rust out while looking for you....again" the Kaleesh Acolyte allowed a slight smile to play on his lips before pulling the bone mask traditional to his people over his face. He suspected that L4 would never let that occasion fade from his memory bank.

The boarding ramps lowered, revealing a Star Port that almost had an organic feeling to it. Unlike other ports built of permacrete and durasteel, this was molded and shaped from the various roots and tree matter which littered this Planets surface. In the midst of all this artificial chaos and machinery teemed life and ambient noise with numerous aviary species echoing among the canopies. At its surface this Planet was abundant in life. Flora grew from every crack and crevice and it seemed the native fauna adapted well to the incorporated structures. As an appreciator of balance this was a feeling he truly admired. But he wasn't so naive as to believe the Planets innocent illusion. In the heart of the Jungle lay as much death and decay as life and shadow was ever present as light. One could argue that Kashyyyk was more at balance than the majority of Planets in the Galaxy. Life here was not sustained without death, and death could not naturally occur without the abundance of life. It was a harsh but necessary cycle.

Iruuk drapped his hooded poncho around his shoulders and pulled the covering over his head, his amber eyes peering from behind an ivory mask. He could still sense the anomaly within the Force, the variable that did not seem to heavily favor either side of lifes spectrum. With his sword sheathed by his side he decided to venture out of the dock and further away from the concentrated city. Ever so often he would stop in his tracks and extend his mental tendrils beyond his surrounding environment in hopes of catching the 'scent'. To him the sensation was like a dry patch in the front of the nostril with a define aroma of lightly scented flora, almost sweet in its scent.

The Matukai didn't hear anything beyond the scurry of animals as he continued to relax a bit. He would stay for a few minutes, though despite not hearing anything he would every few minutes get the feeling of being watched again. He finally opened his eyes and kick up to a standing position. He didn't see anything when he looked around. Jago crossed his arms. What the hell was it. He closed his eyes again and allowed the light to flow through him. If it wasn't something natural watching him maybe the force could answer his question.

The Matukai couldn't reach out like Jedi or Sith, but he'd deduced a way to sense force phenomena around him through other means. With the force flowing through him he would just allow it to circulate through his being, the lines of energy that coursed through his body wouldn't be manipulated by Jago, he would just let them flow and he would pay attention. He'd learned long ago that no matter what the force was attracted, at least partially, to other concentrations of the force. So as the force flowed through him freely he noticed that the lines of energy seemed to tug in certain directions. Right now the strongest pull seemed to come from the direction of the nearby port. Curious. He waited a few more moments in this state to confirm and his patients was rewarded. The tug became much stronger for only a moment before whatever presence receded again.

Jago opened his eyes and smiled. Well here he thought his day was just going to involve some light exercise and relaxation. The prospect of running into another force user, Jedi or Sith, was by far more appealing. He started to make his way back, jumping, swinging, and climbing his way back down a bit and toward the port. The Matukai eager to find the source of whatever it was that had come to Kashyyyk.

During the more active modules of his Apprenticeship, Iruuk often followed his mentor akin to how a Padawan would follow their assigned Master. He learned through tutelage and patience paired with years of training both physical and mental. Where his Teacher walked, he followed. The nature of their reaping eluded him in his younger years. It was hard to impart wisdom on the necessity of death in lifes cycle to a boy torn from his Home World. But as his Apprenticeship advanced in years he soon came to understand the nature of those "selected" for their harvest. He understood that the balance of life and death, light and dark, had to be maintained and properly scaled. His duty was to death, whether he enjoyed it or not.

The anomaly, one of many present in the Galaxy, was to be investigated and deemed necessary of reaping. But such things had to be done personally. One could not allow the general broadness of sensing individuals through the Force. They had to be more precise and the devil was in the details. Close Proximity was a benefiting factor. It was easy to mask intent on a wider scale, but harder when pinpointed. Iruuk peered through his ivory mask through snake like eyes and continued to feel his way through.

Something alarmed the Kaleesh Acolyte forcing him to stop. The faint signatures he was using to "track" this anomaly were getting broader, almost stronger with every pace. There was a underlying rustle from afar, one not made of nature. His long bat like ears poked out from his hooded garment scouring around him while his nose gently inhaled the wild musk of his surroundings. With the Force his senses were tuned to its natural peak, and slightly enhanced by its mystic connection. Almost instinctively his clawed hand reached for the hilt sheathed by his hip, his thumb ready to flick the blade free of its holster. The Sith Sword responded almost immediately as it released enticing waves of power, almost seducing its wielder into using its edge. Through training and discipline he mentally shrugged off the weapons seduction and advanced slowly towards this charging anomaly.

In all truths he did not known what to expect. He could merely feel the beings presence in the Forces restless tide. He had no notion of race, size or age. He simply knew this being was neither wholly light nor steeped in darkness. He was a fringe existence, much like himself but something completely different. He hadn't sensed anything like it while tutored to his Master.

As Jago climbed he kept the force flowing within him to help guide him, those same tugs getting more frequent and stronger as he moved. After a few minutes he landed on a branch above one of the many suspended bridges that spanned the forests of Kashyyyk. This one was decently wide with a great view of the surrounding forest. It also was clearly on the path of the whoever he'd come down to find.

He waited for the presence to approach then easily flipped down and landed gracefully, hopefully ahead of whoever it was. Jago looked ahead and saw what could only be the person. The being walked with purpose and determination, but caution as well. From his posture alone the other force user had no idea what to expect, only that he was tracking someone. "Hey there! Wouldn't happen to be looking for me yeah?" Jago flashed his usual smile eager to see what the next few minutes had in store for him.

He couldn't see the anomaly, but he could feel its advance, his tendrils in the force acting more akin to sonar. As he sent out pulses in the force he'd receive mental feedback in a general location, becoming more fine tuned as the target got closer. What the Acolyte hunted was agile, and physically elusive. So what surprised him most was when it exposed itself, a Nautolan of emerald skin and a unique signature. It was hard to describe and in Iruuks "eye" he pictured a silhouette with a very concentrated, but thin, surrounding energy.

At the Nautolans exposure the Acolyte released his grip from his sword, his gaze resting intently on the sentient. His voice was drawn and his snout and fanged jaw added a almost reptilian accent to his Galactic Basic, but his delivery was understandable even behind his ivory mask "Soooo.....that's what you are. A Nautolan. Not a Sith, and not quite a Jedi either. Who do you serve?" the thin ocular sensors underneath his eyes began searching for nearby heat signatures and his mental tendrils reached even further, picking up nothing further than fauna. This being was alone. He deduced he was either nomadic, or a temporary visitor. Iruuk placed his clawed hand on his hilt once again, slightly drawing the blade from its sheath "Its irrelevant. Your place in the greater balance will be determined here"

In the manner of seconds Iruuk enhanced his legs with the Force, empowering his muscles to span a wider gap in a shorter time. He leapt toward the Nautolan, his blade ripped from its sheath with his right hand. He performed a cross drawn slash aimed at Jagos right hip to left breast, though this was purposely drawn short. Even if it succeeded it would fail to draw blood, and more like tear clothing.

Jago took in the being before him. He'd met a few Kaleesh in his travels and had know them to be fiercely dedicated to their various causes. This one from his demeanor and general garb, along with his force sensitivity could only be one thing, Sith. Even with out scanning him with his enhanced vision, Jago could feel the force flowing darkly within the being. Guess it was gonna be a less enjoyable day than he'd thought.

"That's right, I'm no Jedi, though I do serve the Light." Jago had barely managed to get a word out before the Kaleesh spoke something about the "greater balance". The Matukai raised an eyebrow at that comment. He didn't get long to ponder the young man's meaning however before the Kaleesh became a blur of movement headed straight for him. The Sith was moving quickly but the attack itself wasn't enhanced. To the Matukai's trained eyes the attack also didn't seem to be aimed to kill. Years of training kicked in and all Jago needed to to was take a simple step back, the swing passing harmlessly in front of him. He fell into the Teras Kasi ready stance then and eyed the Kaleesh closer. "Hmmm balance huh? We'll talk balance in a moment." Jago couldn't help but smile despite himself. He was about to be in his element, the thick of the fight and he was ready now.

As expected his attack missed its mark. The Nautolan fluidly allowed the blade to pass before him, the blade clearing by mere measurements as he stepped back. The Acolyte allowed his swing to continue, bringing his right elbow to head height while pointing the blades tip towards his anomaly. Rather than following up with his momentum, he slowed the pace of battle when the Matukai explained his allegiance. A being that served the light yet was unaffiliated with the Jedi, though informed well enough that he knew of their existence. One could travel the Galaxy and count themselves lucky to brush shoulders with a Jedi, they were a rarity. This being must have had some connection but truth radiated from his words, the Kaleesh could feel its echo through the Force.

And then something changed. Almost as soon as the Nautolan slid into an unknown fighting stance the air around him felt as if it suddenly grew tense. Iruuk held his pose, his own amber reptilian eyes staring "Your role within the cycle is in question. Consider this a trial of your existence." He made a mental note to end all lines of dialogue despite his curiosities need for answers. He dismissed the underlying thirst for knowledge and made a quick succession of small steps to close the distance between the two fighters, making his final step with his leading foot before pushing his shoulders and bent elbows forward, the tip of his tainted Sith Sword thrust towards the bottom of the Matukais throat.

What an odd Sith this one was. Not that Jago had much chance to interact with many of them in his travels and time with the Jedi. He'd never heard mention of any force user talk about a cycle. Jago figured there would be time enough to find out if he walked away from this fight with his life or not, as the Kaleesh seemed intent on being some kind of judge of character. Though he assumed this fight was more akin to the Matukai tradition. His people believed that you didn't truly know someone until you had fought them. All pre-conceived notions fell away and all that was left was the person before you. If that's what the Sith wanted then Jago was happy to oblige him.

As the Sith came on again Jago of course noticed something else extremely odd. Where was the lightsaber? The thrust came in and Jago kept up his guard and quick stepped forward and to the left, the Sith's right. The blade would pass by and now with the forward step Jago was inside the sword's effective range, with Jago practically shoulder to shoulder with the Sith. Time to see what the kid could do. As he finished the step with his lead foot, Jago's right elbow would strike out. The attack aimed at the right cheek of the Kaleesh warrior. "So, gotta ask, where's your light stick bud? Never heard of a Sith without one yeah?"

Iruuk was swift and relentless in his execution, but it appeared as if the emerald skinned Nautolan was quicker. The Acolytes blade was effortlessly dodged as the Makutai stepped to the side, bridging the gap between the two so they almost stood shoulder to shoulder. From his peripheral he could see a sharp elbow being thrust to his cheek, its speed and force enough to cut the surface of his skin and cause bruising. Iruuk was more confused as to why the anomaly refused to draw his weapon and thought perhaps he was being underestimated. As the elbow drew closer to its intended target, Iruuk pulled his weapon back towards his and over his head so the blade ran parallel to his spine. This caused his right bicep to shield his cheek, cushioning damage to the face at the expense of his arm taking the brunt of the blunt attack.

As fist connected with arm, a sharp impact coursed through his appendage, causing it to numb. In addition the strength of the attack forced his left leg outward to brace his body, his knee absorbing the impact. His right leg stepped back and crossed over so he now faced the Matukai and in one swift action he swung his sword up and over his head, slashing down from head to groin. Whether he connected or not was irrelevant, he would take a step or two back to regain his form and retake the tempo of the battle to suit his advantage. If he was allowed reprieve he would answer his foes line of inquiry "You're knowledge of the Sith is limited then. I admit, my kin have favored the use of lightsabers as our predecessors have. I choose to follow the path of our ancient ancestors" he looked at the blade within his grasp, an extraordinary weapon in design. Its true strength did not lie in its physical appearance but in the way it was created. Like many Sith Swords it was created through a process known as Sith Alchemy where its molecules were manipulated so that it was actually heavier than other weapons its size. Not only that but a kyber shard was infused into the blades hilt, acting as a conduit for the wielders dark side energies. It was made more dense and heavier to counter the modern use of lightsabers. With his reptilian eyes still resting on the Makutai, Iruuk filled his lungs with fresh air "And what of you non-Jedi? You reek of those like you yet you fail to bring out your own weapon. Do you think me unworthy? It will be a decision you'll come to regret". This time the Sith Acolyte waited in his readied pose, his stance bearing heavy resemblance to the First Form of saber combat known as Shii-Cho.

The elbow connected with the fleshy bicep of his opponent instead of the cheek, but the force had knocked the Sith slightly off balance. Jago could see the over head attack coming, telegraphed far too heavily to not notice, as the Kaleesh had to take time to raise the sword all the way over his head after the pivot. So Jago simply pivoted as well to his own right, with his right arm still extended from the last attack he simply swung his forearm up and caught the descending blade on his gauntlet, a brief spark spraying out as the blade made contact. Jago continued the swing of his arm and parried the blade, and let the weight of the attack pass to his right. He smiled as the Sith took a step back and Jago resumed his Teras Kasi stance.

"Ah I see, nothing wrong with the old ways I say." Jago did chuckle a bit. "Though from what I've seen the glow sticks are just plain better than a normal sword yeah? Though preference is preference after all." He understood this all too well, even among his own people, fighting styles, views on the force, and outlook on the duties of the Matukai varied widely. Some preferred weapons while many, like Jago, choose to focus on unarmed combat.

"Ah not unworthy yeah? I choose my own path to follow much like yourself. My body is my weapon, and I gotta tell ya, if you keep coming at me like that? Well I'll have to unleash it's full power yeah?" He kept his smile, but behind it was a very serious determination. It was no empty threat.

The Matukai was fast and held a weight in his attacks that betrayed his natural stature. Iruuk could feel the resistance in his defense as his alchemist blade struggled to penetrate the seemingly average gauntlets. As both fighters slid back into their opening stances the Sith Acolyte filled his lungs with fresh oxygen permeated with organic matter, the side product of Kashyyks thick vegetation "A normal sword, yes. This sword? I highly doubt it. This requires no energy source, has no fear of internal compromise or water. And-" the Khalessh closed his eyes momentarily, allowing the Force to flow through his body, through his arms and hands before finally condensing the energy into the blade itself. From visual inspection one could see the swords edge heat up, its obsidian hue glowing red and then orange signifying an drastic increase in heat. Iruuk was able to channel the mystical energy of the Force to heat the edge to increase its cutting potential through focused pyrokinetics "-the versatility in a blade so heinous as a lightsaber is limited."

With both fighters still squaring each other out the Makutai declared his intentions should Iruuk continue with his attack, prompting the Acolyte to smile behind his ivory mask "Good. Let it not be said that your passing was ill according to the Balance. In nature the ones that die easily are the ill, the young and the old. Seeing as you are neither, you must offer resistance for your survival." Without another word Iruuk approached Jago once again, his leading foot stepping forward as he lunged his blade towards his stomach. He would stop short and twist his hilt and blade in his grasp so that its edge faced upwards before pulling the blade up in hopes of cutting the Natolans jaw and chin from below.

Oh so it was a fancy sword. Jago let his smile widen as the blade took on the hot glow. As it did the force flow in his own body would pull strongly toward Iruuk. So it took the force to maintain the heated edge. Very interesting. Jago wouldn't get long to examine the blade however as once again the Sith mentioned balance and came on again.

The lunge came forward and Jago would step forward and to his right, Iruuk's left, to once again get inside the reach of the blade as it passed Jago's left side, neatly avoiding the follow up uppercut from the feint. Clever move that would've caught a much less experienced fighter off guard no doubt. As Jago stepped forward, his left arm would swing down and to his left to try and force the Sith's arms away and off balance before Iruuk could retract back into a defensive stance. If successful he'd follow up with a quick twist to his left and strike out with his right leg aimed at Iruuk's left foot in a quick sweep to try and put the Sith on his back, or at the least off balance him further.

True enough, his blade had been evaded once again. Annoyingly the Acolyte had little exposure to individuals who fought with their fists or at extreme melee. The Nautolans speed and agility proved a difficult adversary, prompting Iruuk to change his strategy. When pit against opponents with a melee weapon there was almost always a desirable distance in which they performed in. It seemed that principle never applied to those who chose to engage in personal spaces.

Rolling for evasion : 81 - The Matukai side stepped Iruuks feint and rising slash then aimed to knock him off balance by hitting his extended arms. Quickly he stepped back a pace while rotating his body to face his opponent, bringing his weapon down and his wrists tucked into his stomach. The strike passed over his weapon and while his position was compromised he lunged once again, stepping foward to close the distance. The tip of his blade was aimed towards his chest (left side). If his attack was successful at any capacity he'd throw his right palm towards Jago with fingers extended, summoning the Force to push him away with a blunt impact.

Rolling for force push: 9 - The impact of the push (if successful) would be weak at best, having the majority of his concentration on maintaining the heated edge on his blade.

YO not gonna lie I may have forgotten about our thread here lol. My bad!

Hmmm kid had good instincts for sure. His follow up whiffed as the Sith stepped back. In anticipation of a follow up and from the angle of the blade, a thrust would be most likely, Jago took a step to his own right. He could feel the heat of the blade as it passed his left arm, but the evasion left him open to the push of Irruk. He simply threw his arms up in a cross guard and readied himself, but the force of the offenisive move wasn't what he expected. He only slid back a few more inches and he opened his arms, he had expected to get flung back several feet.

He opened his arms and then circled his hands around his body, he fell back into one of the basic tenants of teras kasi, bring the opponent in. He kept his arms wide, created the illusion of an opening though Jago was ready to counter whatever came next.
