DESCRIPTION​

The A280 blaster rifle is a military infantry weapon produced by BlasTech Industries, one of the Galaxy's premier small arms manufacturers. Originally designed prior to the Clone Wars, this model became popular with many planetary defense forces under the Old Republic and later the Empire. It was most widely used by the Alliance to Restore the Republic, however, and together with the shorter A280C was as close as could be claimed to be the Rebellion's standard sidearm.

The A280 was extremely popular during the Galactic Civil War, and can still be found in many parts of the Galaxy today, its robust construction and excellent handling guaranteeing the type a long service life. Though it doesn't have some features other models have - it lacks a stun setting - the A280 has a significant range advantage, being effective out to 150 meters, with accurate targeting through a computerized optic. With a standard power pack, the A280 can fire about 50 shots before requiring a recharge or pack swap.

Though not nearly as plentiful as the Imperial-issue E-11 blaster rifle, the A280 is still easy to find even decades after the Galactic Civil War. Many planetary defense forces still use it, and though its lack of a stun setting does not give it much use with law enforcement, mercenaries, criminals and even private citizens still get plenty of mileage out of it.

LEGALITY​

Legal. Ownership of blaster rifles is not restricted in most of the Galaxy, however openly carrying such a weapon in public might be on more "civilized" worlds. On less civilized worlds, it still might draw unwanted scrutiny.
