Breaking News

Suddenly, whatever people was watched would be found interrupted as their screens showed a big man with white hair sitting on a throne, an image reminiscent of an event that happened long ago and that was relayed by an even bigger legend. The man's posture was relaxed, as he laid back and looked at the camera, wearing his armor save for the mask, as if wanting every single person in the galaxy to recognize who he was. Those that had watched the news recently would recognize him as Gareth Gin, the White Lion of Zaa Fenn, legend of Nar Shaddaa and, after recent events, the one that struck a great blow against the planet of Mon Cala.

A smile curled on his lips as he nonchalantly waved at the camera before leaning forward "People of the galaxy, the name's Gareth Gin, chances are you may have heard my name recently already, but if not, I am the man that orchestrated a great attack against the people of Mon Cal, I killed their people, I assasinated their leaders and I polluted their waters, simple as that." The Miralukan said as footage of the attack on Mon Cal would be shown, letting it just sink in before the camera went back at him.

"So, the reason I am currently referring to you all is simple: I intend to state my intentions." Gareth got up from the throne, his "eyes" never leaving the camera as he did, but the smile went away as he crossed his arms "I am a member of the Zaa Fenn, the champions of the people of the Outer Rim that live in our territories, we may be scoundrels and scum in the eyes of you "civilized people", but we do care about our people, we really do. Our troops are the main reason Nar Shaddaa hasn't been fully overrun, we killed the Hutt that caused so much pain to the galaxy with that blasted virus, we take justice into our hands for those that are abandoned by everyone else, just like the man that once led us did."

"But of course, ain't no rest for the wicked, now that our people are weakened by everything the galaxy has thrown as us, there are certain groups that, instead of giving us a hand, have decided to kick us while we are down. I am, of course, talking about the ISC, who declared war on us after an unfortunate incident" The Miralukan shook his head, opening his arms as he seemed to be in deep thought.

"You may be wonderin' just what this has to do with what we did Mon Cal, so I'll get straight to the point: It was a warning." The casual tone of voice was suddenly dropped as his voice resembled almost a growl, more menacing, more intense, changing the mood completely as he went for the statement "This is between the ISC and us, you join the fight...This happens to you, simple as that, we will do whatever's neccessary to protect our people." Gareth smiled once more, this time carrying it in a more terrifying, wild manner as his sole presence and the way he carried himself added to the intimidation factor "Let me reiterate once more that it was also just a warning, what I did to Mon Cal? I just used a few men and a couple ships for that, imagine what I could do if I actually used the resources I have at hand. Play nice, focus on the problems you have already and don't create more for yourself by joining stupid fights that won't have you gain anything, the galaxy is enough of a mess as it is, you don't want to rile us up to add to it, I promise...We'll be watching." And just like that, the holonet went back to normal, the message had been delivered, and the White Lion of Zaa Fenn was content.

Mildly annoyed at the latest interruption to his viewing of the triple bill of ‘Hanging with the Hiporis’, the latest in a long line of horrendous Z-rated reality TV shows, Nor’baal let out a loud harrumph. The creature that now dominated his screen was a member of the Zaa Fenn, an up-and-coming crime family (by Hutt standards) that he knew as Gareth Ginn. Nor’baal shook his head as the creature took credit for an attack on a major world, and let out the deep rumbling laugh for which his species was renowned.

, I killed their people, I assassinated their leaders and I polluted their waters, simple as that." the ‘White Lion’ undulated in his criminality in front of the entire galaxy, as Nor’baal raised a pudgy hand and called for laughter from his underlings to subside. Publically proclaiming that you had carried out a massive terror attack was not the best way to carry out crime on a galactic scale.

"I am a member of the Zaa Fenn…"

<Ho! Ho! Ho! Sonpa Zaa Fenn che banang bai bu hih yoskah da uba doth bu bo la lwaa moova dah!> Nor’baals laughter erupted once more through the throne room of his yacht, as he practically lapped up the news that one of his rival criminal networks had decided to paint a huge target on their back.

The public admission of Hutticide was slightly unsettling, however, Nor’baal could speak from personal experience, Gareth was not a massive fan of his species.

"This is between the ISC and us, you join the fight...This happens to you, simple as that, we will do whatever's necessary to protect our people."

Uuba doth camai? Kava pihoha da dopa- dondichola taneee doi... doi peee bagn goo doth doi. Bu Yih danko baa doth bu mogke hahekahea dee Yih camai, an tah giw pihoha bai chakanu hoohah bai doth bo! Nor’baal roared, slamming his first onto the arm of his throne as the room fell into a silence.

”One-Million Credits for the being who brings me the head of that man, Two-Million for him alive, so I might keep him where he belongs - on a leash!” the Hutt screamed, as his Majordomo made contact with the Guild.

Emryc was stuck watching some cheesy Life Day movie Jaikus insisted on viewing together. Halfway through, hilariously the half Sephi was fully invested, asking several questions about why little Susie had to say goodbye to the rest of the family. While he would never agree to doing the whole matching pajama bullshit, he met his partner halfway with matching holiday socks and that was as far as he would go with festivities.

As a result, he was that much more irritated when he was blown up about the Holo broadcast that especially called ISC out. Within moments, Emryc was changed into a suit and on his way over to make a press response. Of course, his ridiculous candy cane and Life Day tree socks remained on and he realized entirely too late. Oh well, maybe it’d humanize him a bit more to the public…

By the time he read what was said, he relaxed quite a bit. In fact, he had to suppress the urge to express his deep amusement on his face. He hunched to let his assistant Aila fix up his hair - she was perhaps the only one other than his partner allowed anywhere near his locks. His focus remained on the transcript of the address.

“Do you want time to draft a speech, sir?”

“No,” He said curtly after she finished gelling his hair, “Have footage from Mon Cala ready to go when prompted. I know what to say.”

Within moments, Holonews channels all around had Emryc on display. He gazed at the camera, his face stoic as always.

“Gareth Gin” He began with that familiar powerful baritone, “You were a legend of the people. You were someone those of the Outer Rim could back,” He said, acknowledging the efforts to remove the blockers that were keeping the vaccines from being distributed, “Until now.”

“As the man that declared war on the Syndicates, I am not uneducated on the principles of Zaa Fenn. And you do not represent them. You spit in the name of what Zaa Fenn once was. While they toed the line with questionable tactics, they put the lives of civilians as paramount. Butchering countless civilians on a planet that has done no harm and poisoning millions has never been, nor will ever be, aligned with the core foundation of what Zaa Fenn stands for. Or what the Outer Rim stands for. You are right, you are scoundrels and scum. Do you know who is not? The people of the Outer Rim. The average civilians on the planets you claim to speak for. Do you know why?”

He gazed firmly ahead as he spoke, “Because you have justified and further validated my reason for a war. Because you have now made it so not only will I double down on my war efforts, but I will prioritize a joint initiative to partner with the Chancellor, the Prime Minister and any other world leader that will seek to eradicate you and everything the Zaa Fenn stands for now. You have made yourself to be nothing more than vicious terrorists no better than what the Sith were under the Eternal. And the people of the Outer Rim see that. They know that supporting you means opting for violence on innocent men, women and children at random on any whimsical planet of your choosing. Because the people of the Outer Rim are so much more than just scum and scoundrel,” He paused for a moment, letting footage show the countless people in hospitals or grieving families of victims on Mon Cala, “They will know better than to back someone so foolish and nothing more than a malicious terrorist that takes sick pleasure in hurting innocents in the name of serving the people. The people of the Outer Rim are far too intelligent to be fooled by this."

It was clear his words were resonating with the general public already, as that had been Emryc's tactic all along. Civilians across many planets in the outer rim were already taking to social media. All platforms were abuzz with outer rim worlds now being a war target for multiple bodies of government. Hatred for Gareth Gin was already trending.

“The ISC stands with Mon Cala, and will stand with any other world you threaten,” He stated firmly, “You have effectively painted a target on yourself, so if you were expecting the people of the Outer Rim to pat you on the back for it, you are sorely mistaken. Welcome to a multiple front war, Former Legend of Nar Shadda.”

I sighed at the holoscreen, annoyed by the backwater hick making claims and moves in My Peoples neck of the woods. The Tyrant made threats against the innocent. Carried out attacks on them. And what's worse is he claimed to care for the people of the outer rim... while he slaughtered them.
I don't like tyrants. And I don't like being threatened. Especially not by nar Shaada Hillbillies.
The boy sitting at the the low table, sensing my disliking for the news spoke up.
"Wish there was something we could do something about it. What if they attacked Mandalore?"
I looked at the boy, the future of the mandalorian people lay in its youth. It always has.
"Something must be done. And so it shall."

Statement by Senator Hergalor togTherador on Mon Cala's Exit from the Free Worlds Alliance

Press time! Rarely were such opportunities handed on a gilded platter. A massive ecological restoration project was a business opportunity for TAC, of course, but there was a greater beauty to the unifying hatred the galaxy was fermenting towards Gareth Gin and the Zaa Fenn Cartel. They had committed a genocide that would make even the most repugnant Sith Lord weep by attacking one of the most famous peace-driven worlds in galactic history.

Hergalor approached a podium outside his office with his characteristic crimson and golden robes. The statement was issued in his native Ithorese, with a translator droid conveying his message into Basic, so that he could better emote at the podium. "It is with great sadness that the Free Worlds Alliance bids farewell to Mon Calamari, an honorable world with a proud history. It is an understandable departure. The Kingdom of Dac has had its struggles throughout the years, . Should you ever choose to return, it will be with open arms. Until then, we offer our deepest sympathies to those who have lost their lives, their loved ones, and their livelihoods in this senseless assault."

Hergalor took a breath. Were the Syndicates playing some kind of long game here, or had they truly become so desperate that merely speaking out against them could get them to explode so easily? "Taanab is ready to make several commitments to our old friends, the fine and just Mon Calamari people. While cowards would abandon a lone world in its time of greatest need, Taanab will instead commit its greatest resource, the Taanab Agroecological Cooperative, to the cleanup efforts of its polluted ocean. To the Mon Cala people, as long as Taanab has foodstuffs to supply, we guarantee you shall not go hungry. To the leaders of Mon Cala, this is a gesture of friendship between our two worlds. Wherever you go from here, whatever path your future may take, Taanab will always be at your side. We are joined in this effort by our friends in the Independent Systems Consortiums' Refugee Agency, who have committed our growing farms and disaster relief expertise to this cleanup. With the joint effort of multiple systems together, we support you, Mon Calamari."

"We urge our friends across the Free Worlds Alliance and the rest of the galaxy to join us. We must stand united, show that we will not bow to terror, that we will not let the people of Mon Calamari suffer more than they already have. We join the honorable Governor Nor'baal Desilijic of Kessel and President Emryc Thorne of the Independent Systems Consortium in condemning this attack."

His deep, melodic Ithorese quieted as a hint of true disgust crept into Hergalor's voice. It was depraved. And adding to its depravity was its pointlessness - people die in wars, certainly, but committing war crimes against a random world while at war with another seemed clinically insane. And now, so many were dead as a result of this insanity. "By now, many have seen the demented video the attacks' perpetrator has sent. Any good citizen of the galaxy can see through this blatant, trite attempt at propaganda. This pathetic speech by the vile butcher Gareth Gin represents their weakness. They were unable to hold Kessel, which the ISC liberated from their hands. So, like an impotent child with a magnifying glass and an anthill, they chose to torture those weaker than themselves. They have destroyed an entire civilization, with a death toll rising towards the millions, and they smugly celebrate themselves. They call themselves the 'champions' of the Outer Rim. Champions of what? They have attacked an innocent world for no discernible reason, for daring to float a single, voluntary bill to Senate. My fellow Senators, will we accept, will we stand for, this disgusting assault on our legislature?"

"Let me say it again. They have done this not for justice, nor for their own business, but simply because someone voiced an opinion. They have killed so many for no reason, to send an empty message. This loss of life is truly senseless, in that it truly does not make sense. The criminal psychopathy that has riddled the minuscule mind of Gareth Gin has made him an enemy of every state, and his stupidity will shine a light for justice to flush out criminal activity across the galaxy."

Hergalor pointed a long, bony finger into the camera. "To those in the Outer Rim, Taanab asks: Are these your champions? Senseless butchers who kill children, unarmed, the sick, the destitute, so that they can more easily peddle their drugs and oppress you? Make no mistake, these 'champions' have signed away any chance at reconciliation. The Outer Rim is deserving of far better; you deserve true economic opportunity and investment. You deserve a leadership that represents your interests, rather than their own deep pockets. These terrorists have gambled with your lives, making your home a stronghold for their illicit barbarism. They rely on your silence, your implicit support, to murder, loot, and plunder. Will you continue to stand for this?"

"I believe not. Taanab will commit its allotment of Sector Rangers to this struggle. And if that is not enough, our Planetary Defense Force. If that is not enough, an army droids large enough to blot out the sun of whatever festering hole this lunatic has made his video from. For every life lost, for every life ever taken by a criminal syndicate, we will exact justice. And we will do it united as one galaxy." It felt oddly personal, as Hergalor finished his speech. The members of the Free Worlds Alliance had been far too isolated if such a devastating attack could occur within its borders. Such impudence demanded a firm response.

Today was a good day for Sibyl. She didn’t have anything related to her duties to do and Tristodd was away in Thyferra, dealing with ISCRA related things. With this free time she had decided to spend the day in the pool of her estate, dressed only in bikinis and with sunglasses. Now the Brentaalan was in a lounge and with a fruit drink on her left hand, totally relaxed.

Well, she was relaxing until Dongwa, her protocol droid, approached her. If he could have a facial expression, it would be fear. "My lady, something terrible happened. Gareth Gin of the Zaa Fenn announced in the Holonet that they were responsible for the attack against Mon Cala and declared that they will do the same to those that support the ISC's war against them. President Thorne already did a statement against them."

"Who is Gareth?" Sibyl asked, she knew the Zaa Fenn, a criminal group that consider themselves as the defenders of the Outer Rim. However, the Brentaalan never heard about this Gin person before. After all she doesn't care what happens with a bunch of scum and criminals, unless they can make business with her or are a threat. "Dongwa, you should only disturb me in the case of a Sith Fleet appearing over Brentaal." she paused, thinking about what else could be important. "Oh and if Tristodd's body was found and we were going to its funeral."

Without even moving from the lounge, she would continue talking with her droid. "Today is my day to relax. I really don’t want to deal with an idiot who decided to attack a FWA world, while being in conflict with the ISC." it doesn't make sense. If he wanted to go against the Consortium, he should have targeted one of its planets. Sibyl even thought that it was funny. The so-called defenders of the Outer Rim attacked an Outer Rim planet. She laughed with this irony.

"Later I’ll make a statement saying how terrible it was and offer help to Mon Cala. Now I only want to rest." saying that, her droid understood that he should leave her alone and started to walk away. "By the way, tell the chef that today I want to eat a dish with calamar of Manaan. Suddenly I have a desire to eat seafood." then she returned to her moment of relaxation.

Isaeval turned her TV off and threw the remote at the wall. "For fucks sake can't the Galaxy just be peaceful for awhile so that I can have some peace as well." She jumped on her bed and pulled out her phone, opening the growing switter app. "So annoying... always have to write corny posts like these." she muttered to herself, furiously tapping the screen.

"There." Isaeval tossed her phone to the side and laid down. "Can't believe people eat this shit up as if my post actually does anything for those losers."

”Jersey, check,” Aska announced to herself gleefully as she plopped down onto the sofa in her suite before crossing her legs on the cushion and drawing a heavy blanket over her lap. ”Beer? Check. Snacks? Fucking better believe it,” she continued to chuckle as she dropped the bowl of Calamari Crisps atop the blanket and reached down, plucking a bottle from the six pack at her side. Glancing through the window and seeing the patter of melting snowflakes hitting glass, the clone was only too satisfied with taking the night to kick back and relax and catch the pod racing circuit on Malastare. With her bets placed, she was confident that she'd soon be seeing some healthy returns. Reaching for the remote as she popped a few chips into her mouth, the holo display soon jumped to life with the overly energetic announcer but as she settled in for the rest of her evening the broadcast was cut short by a breaking news bulletin.

”Gareth? What the fuck?” the woman groaned, gripping the bowl of crisps and tossing it carelessly on the table before her. Listening to his words, she soon snorted in disdain. ”Orchestrated?” she said with a roll of her eyes. ”Typical big man,” Yet as the broadcast continued, she soon became entirely aware of just how large Gareth’s already enormous head had grown since their fateful day on Nal Hutta. Every word, every declaration… He was destroying everything that Preef had built and he didn’t even realise it.

"You may be wonderin' just what this has to do with what we did Mon Cal, so I'll get straight to the point: It was a warning.

Dropping her forehead into her hand, the clone used the remaining arm to reach for her cigarras and promptly lit one before flicking across the other news outlets that she typically kept an eye on. Senators from across the galaxy all openly declaring their support for the people of Mon Cala, undoubtedly many trying to put forth the facade of sympathy, President Thorne standing firm in his declaration of war with the Syndacites, the Governor of Indupar immediately sending aide on the next channel, and finally the Empress herself expressing her condolences… as well as a substantial reward for Gareth’s capture…

Leaning back in her seat, staring ahead blankly, Aska considered what should follow. By all rights and reasons, she had no qualm with any of these people. Even though Gareth claimed far too much credit for his role in assassinating Durr the Hutt, they had still worked together and claimed their right to fame. Was it wrong of her to now turn around and track him down? Capture him and hand him over to the authorities? Surely that broke some sort of ethical code amongst hired guns and bounty hunters? Then again, five million credits had a way of making her forget the meaning of the word ‘ethics’. A sinister smirk formed as she took a drag from her cigarra, her eyes darting over to the dataphone near her bowl of snacks as it lit up with a notification. It seemed the Hutt clans wanted a piece of the Miralukan as well.

Her mind was made up and she had her decision. Legend to Legend, her and Gareth were destined for a meeting of sorts. But going up against the Zaa Fenn wasn’t going to be simple. There would need to be some preparation. Contacts reached out too. Assets compiled and accounted for.

”Kayto! Get the ship ready!” Aska hollered as she tossed the blanket from her lap. So much for a relaxing night in…

At first, pride vigorously pulsed through Xol to the point where he cheered from inside Calypso II for his fearless leader. Then...came the new announcement from the Bounty Hunter's Guild on Coruscant in the Board Xol was in charge of.

That double-crossing, fat-assed, corpse-breathed, shit-headed, Jabba Wannabe betrayed not only Xol's family, but the Crymorah Syndicate as a whole.

Xol clenched his hands into fists- this was the only day he would refrain from mindlessly lashing out at nothing. He was going to use this anger to his benefit and kill the Hutt blindsighted. First, he'd gain his trust.

Then...

Well, it wasn't called "Backstabbing" for nothing.

Scratch walked into Kara's office in the back of the Quick-Draw Cantina all wide-eyed and with her mouth open in shock, "Kara, have you seen-" out of breath she had to breathe in for a second before she continued, "-holonet broadcast by Gareth?"

The Zaa Fenn Crime Family was in an interesting situation ever since the death of Preef Callo. You had the openly ruled territories of Nar Shaddaa, defended by armies and receiving tribute from the other families in the Crymorah Syndicate. And then you had Coruscant. Enough gangs answered to the Zaa Fenn in the lower levels that were impossible to police, but here they didn't flaunt their presence. Underworld police was paid off, criminal operations were hidden behind legitimate businesses the political leaders -senators- were bribed with intel and credits the same day they took office. With Kara and Scratch at her side, Marissa Zaa Fenn had the most secure holonet sub network of all criminal organizations.. which allowed her to be.. absent for long periods of time.

"Should we ring Marissa?" Scratch got ahead of herself as she gestured towards the encrypted com unit on Kara's desk, prompting the latter to quickly scan for missed broadcasts and put Gareth's statement on the holo-device inside her desk.

Let's just say Gareth's words didn't instill any confidence that this had been a good move. They had always been careful not to be associated with terror attacks and mass murder.. openly. Now the White Lion of the Zaa Fenn had put them in the same skiff as the Eternal, Darth Raze and other aggressive Sith Lords. Undeniable mass-murderers and the worst scum of the galaxy. This was not good, but Kara didn't grab the encrypted com just yet. "This is bad, Scratch. Put an extra slicer on shifts monitoring the network and let higher-ups in the Lower Levels Bouncers (LLB) know we're expecting trouble."

Aside from him being the fastest gunslinger in the known galaxy, Preef Callo had managed to get the backing of so many scoundrels and 'average citizens' because he stood for something. He stood for them. He protected them against the Hutts and created a safe place. Gareth just told them he'd murder them if they stood against him. Kara figured such a drastic shift in narrative would cause some scoundrels and enforcers to smell a profit in selling out their carefully hidden Coruscant operations.

"Has TC-SC-23006's memory wipe been completed?" she asked, referring to the infiltration droid they used for sensitive missions and assassinations. Scratch nodded, it had just returned from a mission to bribe the newest senator of Coruscant but would remember a thing. "Good, upload the CSF captain again and an ordinary joe from out databanks."

A young rodian was watching the news from a cantina in a smalltown on the planet Agamar. There was something on the screen, a statement made by a vile criminal who claimed to the be from the Zaa Fenn and while he seemed to try and appear indifferent to it, the fact that his suction fingers kept -plopping- stuck to his cup told the observant onlooker something different.

Jon Callo was reminded of what a horrible person his father used to be. If this "White Lion" was one of his confidents, then... did Jon ever knew his father? Preef Callo the rancher, as he knew him, was so much different than the stories being told of Preef Callo the armed robber, the murderer, the spice-dealer and assassin. HoloNet responses to the White Lion's statement even directly mentioned Preef and while those words throw the young Rodian off; for how could they be defending his character while he was a cold-hearted killer and responsible for the surge of a criminal empire that was capable of attacking entire planets and kill countless of innocent people?

Another couple of -plops- and Jon started the realize that he had subconsciously started touching the peacemaker on his hip. His father's blaster. A symbol of all the bad things he had done in his life. Why did Jon keep it? A reminder of all the wrongs he had to right as a Sector Ranger? Capture one criminal for every innocent death caused by the Zaa Fenn Crime Family?

Or did it remind him of a strange desire to outdraw him? Be the fastest quickdraw for a purpose he wasn't yet ready to admit to himself.

Sitting in his chair, looming over his rifle he was field stripping and cleaning. Covax hummed along mindlessly to the music video of some popstar (@Altaria ). He didn't remember her name, but for some damn reason he couldn't get her Life Day song out of his head. Perhaps because it had been playing on the Holovid every fourth song for the past hour. Suddenly the images of a barely dressed purple haired sex symbol would be quickly changed to images of Devastation on Mon Cala.

"Shit!" He sighed as he sat back and reached for the glass of gamorrean bourbon sitting next to the parts of his gun. The name that followed the images made him suddenly swallow hard. "Shiiit!" now more a groan. As if on queue, the vid would quickly change to the White Lion himself suddenly filling the projection.

Covax took another drink from the glass and shook his head in utter disgust. As the short speeder bus driving spiced brain lunatic starts to run his mouth like Preef loved to do. Not only putting a target on his own back but that of Zaa Fenn. Preef wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but even he didn't publicly challenge the galaxy after making the Eternal look like Jedi school teacher.

Finishing the glass of bourbon, the merc then lit a cigar and sat back in his chair. "In 3,2..1" he called out to one as the Holonet suddenly exploded, followed his smartpad quickly there after. Alert messages, bounty board updates. He tapped one to open the message. "Shit!" now a pleasant surprise.

He had no love for the "white lion" after the raid on Durr's palace, not affter he and that Devaronian left him for dead outside Durr's palace gates. But he still had a friend or two in the family, or rather one he still respected enough to give her a heads up. Pulling up his contacts list he tapped a face in the list and then text a quick message to Kara ( @Eccles ), "He's going down. You can help, or you can walk away. But don't get in my way."

Putting the phone down then, he started slapping the rifle back together. "A10, fire up the ship. We have our next job."

Aezzairrfhowrrhudrl slammed his fist down with a resounding THUMP on a sturdy Wroshyr wood table that had clearly borne several such blows over the years. The Wookiee was angry.

Angry at Gareth Gin for the careless slaughter of millions of innocents who had nothing to do with the ISC's war on Zaa Fenn.

Angry that yet another FWA world had been crippled by an attack.

Angry at Mon Cala for their shortsighted move to abandon the Free World's Alliance; the most notable in a long line of worlds to do so.

Angry at the New Republic for their silence on the matter.

Angry at the Sector Rangers for failing to stop the calamity.

Angry at the ISC for their hypocrisy in choosing which disasters to respond to and whom to declare war on.

Angry at himself for not somehow preventing the tragedy.

And finally, he was angry at the Sith for daring to try to take the high road.

A short while later, after his rage had abated and his speech had been written, the Senator from Kashyyyk addressed the camera from behind a podium. Although recent events seemed to have added 10 years to his appearance, an undeniable intensity smoldered in the Wookiee's eyes.

"Citizens of the galaxy, the devastation of Mon Cala has elicited powerful and passionate responses from across the galaxy- as it should. No one should be forced to suffer as the people of Mon Cala now do, and all of Kashyyyk grieves along with the Mon Calamari and Quarren peoples." Scenes from a somber vigil in the capital of Kashyyyk would accompany the Wookiee's words.

Aezzairrfhowrrhudrrl paused, noting that his speechwriter had left a comment in the margins begging him to stick to the script. It was as if she could read his mind... not that it mattered.

"I wish that I could say that such atrocities were rare, but I was elected to speak honestly. For across the Free World's Alliance, such devastation occurs regularly- whenever the Sith invade. And yet these invasions are met with silence and neutrality on the galactic level."

His speechwriter would be pissed, but there was no going back now. Aezzairrfhowrrhudrrl spoke with a growing intensity that belied his 400+years of age. "The galaxy's swift and noble response to Mon Cala in their hour of need demonstrates the collective good that a galaxy united against tyranny and terrorism can achieve. Today, we have seen a galaxy united- in a desire for peace, and a desire to hold those responsible for the slaughter of innocents responsible for their crimes. As quickly and as decisively as we condemn the actions of Gareth Gin and Zaa Fenn, so too should we condemn and resist the warmongering of the Sith Empire, which claims to desire peace while continuing to wage war."

By now, his Holonet team had caught up with the new direction his speech had taken, and scenes from the recent invasion of Wayland were shown. Aezzairrfhowrrhudrrl fixed the camera with a determined gaze and set his jaw, concluding his speech with a fiery crescendo. "Empress Andruil (@Phoenix ), I call upon you to immediately end your war with the Free World's Alliance. Cease all hostilities and return the territories you have taken by force to their rightful owners- their peoples."

His words were largely symbolic- he certainly wasn't the Chancellor of the FWA, nor could he speak for its hundreds of members- but they would resound across the Holonet as channel after channel covered the breaking news out of Mon Cala. By now, his producers were justifiably worried, and decided to cut him off. The red recording light blinked off after his last sentence and before the Wookiee could finish with an afterthought- "...and fuck off!"- ending the broadcast before it became PG-13.
