Brienna offered the younger Jedi a comforting pat on the back, and Atris gave her an appreciate smile. Thank you were two very simple words, but she hoped the blonde Jedi Knight would grasp the sentiment behind them. Atris truly was appreciative of Brienna's patience and the ear she had lent her. The brunette would not forget the kindness Brienna had shown her today for as long as she drew breath.

"It has helped. A lot." Just getting her inner thoughts off her chest was enough to make her feel better.

The yells of the unbearable Daymar Rikil had brought their conversation and, perhaps most disappointing of all, their snack break to an end. Brienna grabbed a handful of strawberries before rushing down a hallway at random, and Atris followed her example. The two Jedi Knights did not know their way around the estate, and it didn't help that it was as large as three houses put together.

Eventually the two Jedi found their way upstairs, opting to forgo the stairs and use the Force to guide their jumps. Atris hopped the railing of the second flooring, wondering if she should've taken the stairs instead as her stomach rolled over. Maybe she'd indulged herself a little too much with the leftovers.

"I'm surprised Rikil is still out and about," the Jedi whispered to Brienna as they snuck around. "I thought he'd have his hands full with Victoria. She certainly kept us busy all evening."

The aqua heels retrieved, all that was left was for the two Jedi to make their exit and return to Brienna's light freighter. Returning to the first floor and sneaking out the back was too risky. Brienna asked if Atris was ready for another window escape, and the brunette simply grinned.

"Always."

Climbing through the window and careful not to cut herself on the broken glass, Atris wandered out onto the balcony. She peered over, remembering the green vines that had grown along the sides of the estate.

"We can climb down this way,"
she said quietly, climbing over the stone railing and navigating the vines below.

"I'm surprised Rikil is still out and about, I thought he'd have his hands full with Victoria. She certainly kept us busy all evening."

"Me too," Bri nodded. "Oh to be a fly on the room for that conversation." The Jedi thought about it further and amended, "well, maybe not," with a laugh. That was surely to be an awkward exchange, if it even ever took place. Something told Bri that Victoria and Daymar were not the most communicative of spouses. And even if they were, it was all fake.

The Jedi smiled at Atris' willingness for another window escape. The shared interest in adventure was appreciated. Carefully, the blonde navigated her hands over the shattered glass of the window. Broken impressively by Victoria. Not having to chase after a thief and dodge blaster bolts, allowed Bri to get a better view of the estate from the roof, and the pleasant evening. Lights twinkled off the reflection of the nearby lake. The soft breeze provided a soothing soundtrack to the late hours of the night, or early hours of the morning, Bri hadn't checked the time in a while.

Bri followed along with Atris, stepping much easier with shoes on this time, spotting the vines that had been identified as the best way to get back down to the ground. The Jedi hoisted herself over the ledge and slowly worked her way downwards. "This always looks easier in the holos," Bri grunted, surprised at the amount of upper body strength required. The Jedi jumped towards the ground at the first opportunity, landing abruptly.

The vines on the side of the house were out of view of the catering company packing up, giving Bri and Atris a relatively uneventful walk back to the freighter. "So," Bri started, "what's next for you?" Atris could take the question a number of different ways if she wanted. Literally as in where she was off to next, or more figuratively, as in what's next in her journey in the Force with the Order.

"Perhaps some things are better left a mystery," Atris agreed, chuckling. The life of Mr. and Mrs. Daymar Rikil was one of those, best left up to the imagination and speculation, and perhaps... perhaps not even that.

Both of the Jedi would be glad to bid farewell to the Rikil Estate and the unhappy, disjointed couple that lived there. Hopefully, they would never cross paths again, and hopefully Victoria would keep her nose clean.

Call it a feeling in the Force or plain old woman's intuition, but Atris imagined it was only a matter of time before Victoria attempted to break free of her five thousand square foot prison again.

The pair of Jedi reached the grass much easier than they had earlier in the evening, and Atris was relieved that they hadn't been forced to travel the length of the roof again. After stuffing herself with leftovers, she wasn't in the mood for any more adventure. Not tonight.

Side by side, the women moved across the lawns of the Rikil Estate, neither of them in any particular hurry. Both were exhausted and beginning to feel the aftereffects of a full stomach. The evening was cool and quiet, with only the distant sounds of staff cleaning up after a party to break the peaceful ambiance.

"I don't know," Atris replied with some thought in her tone, ascending the waiting boarding ramp. She laughed. "Sleep first, I can tell you that much. After that, who knows? I've found that there's not much point in making plans. Something unexpected always comes up. The galaxy is funny like that."

She turned to Brienna. "What about you?"

"Perhaps some things are better left a mystery,"

Bri offered a nod and knowing glance on her face which eliminated the need for a verbal response. She sincerely hoped that she wouldn't have to run into either Mr. or Mrs. Rikil ever again. However, the Force seemed to have a funny way of proving you wrong. If it was what the Force willed, then she'd accept it. Doesn't mean I have to like it though.

The two Jedi arrived back at Bri's freighter, and walked up the ramp, heavy boots clanking metallically. NL was there to greet them. It offered a friendly chirp, which was returned with a pat on its 'head' from its Jedi owner. Bri responded to Atris as they walked around the ship, back to the cockpit.

"I don't know. Sleep first, I can tell you that much."

"I'm with you on the sleep." A bright laugh. "This day seems to have gone on forever," she added, having a struggle remembering what time she had actually woken up. Her travels had brought her to Naboo earlier in the day, which had started on her ship somewhere in hyperspace.

"After that, who knows? I've found that there's not much point in making plans. Something unexpected always comes up. The galaxy is funny like that."

Bri nodded sagely in response. "I know exactly what you mean. Some of the most thought-provoking, meaningful experiences that I've had, have started as something completely unexpected." She paused for a moment. "I think I might head back to Yavin. It's been a while since I've been back. Study in the library, do some meditation. Maybe pick up a Padawan," she added the last option with a laugh and a smirk. The blonde Jedi had yet to take on a Padawan learner, for a variety of reasons. The humor was a slight attempt to deflect from a potentially more serious topic.

"So," Bri spoke with more finality. "Where can I drop you off?" she added, flipping the necessary switches and levers, pressing the required buttons and knobs. The ship slowly hummed back to life, a dull sound reverberating around the metal. Despite every temptation wanting to leave a nice singe mark in the Rikil estate grass from the freighters afterburner, Bri resisted. She manipulated the controls to bring the ship airborne, slowly ascending into the night sky.

"Maybe pick up a Padawan."

Five words spoken casually, as if they were no big deal. As if taking on a Padawan learner was not one of the biggest commitments a Jedi Knight could take on but rather just another day in the life of a Jedi. The blonde Jedi Knight's tone was light and free of any care, but Atris couldn't help but wonder if there were heavier feelings at play behind the casual façade Brienna expressed.

There had to be... right?

Atris sunk into the co-pilot's seat, practically melting against its backing. Maybe she was reading too much into Brienna's words, looking through her own lens of doubts and insecurities. She did have a habit of overthinking matters like this. It did not follow that Brienna was the same.

The brunette smiled to herself as she watched her companion slide into the pilot's chair, effortlessly powering the light cruiser up and preparing to take off. Brienna would make an excellent teacher, should she decide to take on a Padawan learner. Atris had no doubts about that.

"A Padawan is a lot of responsibility, but I know if anyone can handle that responsibility, it's you," Atris stated, her words genuine. She'd only known Brienna for a day, but she was still confident in her assessment. Any Padawan learner would be lucky to have such a teacher and companion.

The Jedi Knight swirled her chair around to stare out the cockpit's window and get one last good look at the planet of Naboo. "My destination is also Yavin." She grinned over at Brienna. "I hear my bed calling."

As the light cruiser ascended and Naboo gradually shrunk into the distance, Atris let out a small sigh. It had been a long and tiring day, but looking back from the comfort of the co-pilot's chair, she realized she wouldn't have changed a thing.

It was just another day in the life of a Jedi.
