Gasping from the effort of the Force Bellow the Ithorian shook his head feeling a slight ringing in his ears from the Warrior’s force-enhanced sonic counter. He glanced over at the Priest seeing that his attack had at least affected the other Dark Sider to some level.

Oorrl could feel the power, twisted and corrupt as it was, emanating off the two Cultists so when he saw the Padawans hurling themselves at the enemy he couldn’t help but feel a spike of panic.

Unfortunately the Ithorian was too breathless from his earlier attack to assist much and needed a few seconds to recuperate.

Instead he disengaged his lightsaber for a moment, the blue plasma flickered out of existence, as he edged around the side looking for an angle to flank either the warrior or priest.

Once he caught his breath he would being his assault once more.

Due to previous attack Oorrl has to spend a turn without an offensive action.

Izel had stayed back initially to make sure the cultists they had already subdued above were properly restrained. They certainly didn't want any more unexpected surprises in this fight, and it gave her more time to recover her strength anyway. She was somewhat nervous about letting Isen go ahead with the others, but seeing as they had just received considerable reinforcements she wasn't too worried for his wellbeing. Not until there was a massive boom from the temple that was.

Rushing inside she found the fight had begun in earnest, with their battle having already done significant damage to the temple itself. The Vratix sought to use the chaos to her advantage, masking her presence in the Force and crawling up one of the side walls, trying to remain out of sight. Unfortunately with the roof collapsing there was a great deal of light filtering inside, making the insectoid far easier to spot with an attentive eye than she would have liked.

Nevertheless she made a beeline for the Warrior, seeing as her apprentice was already engaged with him, and he seemed the more formidable of the two cultists anyway. As the other Jedi engaged him more directly she circumnavigated his position, crawling up and behind him before igniting the green blade of her pike. With a grunt and a powerful leap she drove herself directly at the Warrior from above, her lightsaber aimed directly to try and pierce through his chest.

Rah’la saw that the other Padawans had navigated the falling ceiling better than herself. Even so she had lived long enough to get back to her feet; her position was now slightly to the rear of Master Fonwim. Her right arm twitched as she experienced a strange mixture of pain and numbness yet her fingers clenched and relaxed at her command. That was well and good because the scene before her was ever changing and just as one instance was registered in her perceptions two more threatened to divide her focus. They couldn’t afford to have anyone injured and out of commission.

The Warrior repelled hurled stones and the sonic attack alike which caused the very air around him to bark out its objection to the dark force. And still the Padawans continued their assault without showing signs of stopping. It was a measure of their training and what it meant to be Jedi. Those same lessons impelled her forward too, though her responses were more supportive in nature than in leading the front of the attack. Clearly she would be in the way up there.

The Nautolan moved forward knowing her master would need a moment to recover due to the strenuous nature of his technique just as Drastus’ vibrosword severed the Priest’s hand. She thought he was done for when the lightning shot across the distance but he was able to rebound it back toward the priest. Her nose crinkled in distaste from being impressed. If ever they made it out of here and he thought to brag she’d remind him that even a blind hog could find an acorn now and then.

That is when she saw Drow Venn hurl the stone despite his obvious injuries. Moving toward him, she felt the faint song of her masters saber cease. In her peripheral vision she glimpsed Fonwim making a flanking move so she angled her path in that general direction but so she might move forward so that Draw Venn would be between she and the Ithonian. ”Are you alright Sir?”, she said not knowing the Jedi’s name. There were so many involved in this mission and no one took time for a meet and greet, let alone ice breaker games.

Holding an attack for the moment, she prepared a barrier technique to shield ranged attacks by the warrior or the priest upon Oorrl and Draw

The Warrior was not prepared for someone of comparitively little experience of aptitude with the Force to react in such a way - to react with such precision and intent that it didn't matter that he twisted in an attempt to try and stop the attack. It didn't matter at all - Isen's blade would pass by too quickly, too unexpectedly, to be able to do anything but fall apart.

Quite literally.

His legs gave out and The Warrior screamed in pain despite his lack of a tongue, now alive only because the shock of the attack hadn't killed him quite yet. It took a few moments for his heart to give out and for him tof all still, silent as he had tried to present himself as before.

--

It shouldn't have worked.

Simply put, vibroswords lacked the distinctive design of lightsabers that meant that they could counter the effects of Force Lightning. Instead, holding a vibrosword up to stop a blast of Force Lightning was essentially like thrusting a lightning rod into the sky to ward off a lightning strike; the current would just run down the length of the blade and the wielder would simply feel the effects more keenly.

This was the reason why The Priest instinctively let his guard down, confident that Drastus had done nothing but assure his own death with the swing of his metal sword. What neither The Priest or Drastus had been expecting was for the Padawan to instinctively call upon the Force as he mentally examined his reasons for living.

It wasn't the sword that redirected the lightning but a fluke pulse of the Force that lashed back at The Priest, returning his lightning furiously. The blade slashed out, the lightning freezing him in place long enough that The Priest was unable to move to retreat from the attack.

His head rolled to the right and his body collapsed to the left.

Because of the high roll, the defense by Drastus is a success by default but I must stress that this is a reflection of the dice result only; neither beskad or vibro-weapons have any ability to stop or redirect Force Lightning. Do not take this post as a way to justify it in the future as it WILL NOT WORK - the only reason this has been allowed to happen is because DMing in this thread has been a reflection of dice rolls, not true DMing.

And like that it was over.

Violence met with violence and their violence won out - it always left a bitter taste in Max's mouth that death was the result of any Jedi action but he could not stand there and say it could have been resolved any other way. Not wishing to kill did not mean that he ever believed Jedi should hold themselves back to avoid killing.

Risking your life for others was a part of being a Jedi - but it did not extend to those who were actively attempting to kill you and pollute a planet. Extinguishing the blades of his saberstaff, Max winced slightly as a pulse of the Dark Side surged from beneath them.

"Heal up as much as you can!"
he called out to the group that had come with him, "The leader of these cultists lies below and they have further twisted the Force... I fear we may be too late to stop the first stage of their sick ritual."

Max moved across the hall, reaching out with the Force to shift a large chunk of the ceiling that had fallen atop the stairs downward. Closer to the Padawans in question, he patted Isen on the shoulder before doing the same to Drastus.

"Take no pleasure in the death but take pride that your actions prevented further harm. What was done here was brought by their own action."

With small words of advice/comfort given, Max would say nothing more before beginning his decent down into the darkness.

The young Kiffar knew that his lightsaber's blade was true. Isen had known that his dueling and martial skills were ahead of schedule, but until this mission on Onderon, he had no idea just how far ahead he was. The issue with the fall from the tree in the forest notwithstanding, Isen had fought considerably well for a padawan. And here, this warrior was more trained, perhaps stronger in the Force, and significantly more experienced in combat than Isen. Yet, the padawan had bested him by skillfully interchanging Ataru and Djem So. As he looked at the warrior now dissected at the waist, a clean cauterization of organs, skin, and on both halves, the warrior screamed until his suddenly he didn't. He went quiet and the Force within him dissipated into the rest of the universe and everything about him was silent and still.

Isen took a deep breath, pleased not that he had killed, but pleased in his progress. Still, work to do, but he felt like he was living up to his potential. He looked up at the priest just in time to see the lightning the priest had sent toward the other Jedi get sent right back to him, and, like the warrior, he was empty of the Force and life.

Izel, who had secretly moved around to get into position for an attack on the warrior had already pounced and landed near Isen and the two separate halves of the warrior. Isen looked at her and nodded. If his attack had failed, his Master had his back and she was coming in strong.

Isen listened to Master Max's words and would start his dissent down the stairs behind the Jedi Master.

Drast knew deep in his soul that what he just did was a once in a lifetime thing. Not the clapping of the Sith, but the redirect from his blade. A beskad was not meant for that, and that alone was a sign to him that he was on the right path. He had crossed blades with a Sith and won nearly on his own. His confidence would swell, surely not to build his ego, but this was the first real test so far for the Padawan. He wasn't strong with the force, but with the blade? He felt he was farther along than many of the others, and that meant he could still be a useful Jedi. He wasn't broken.

Max would come by and issue his advice, it was good advice. Important words to keep the young from straying too far to the dark, a path he was sure he often courted. "Thank you Master, I'm happy they were too occupied to cause further harm." He meant those words. His hand stung from where he held the blade, but he knew they were far from done. It would have to wait.

He would crouch to inspect the corpse at his feet, a Sith that had tried to kill him and those with him, destroyed by their own lust for power, their pride. He would take the Priest's lightsaber as a trophy, clipping it onto his belt. Of those present, he was closest to Venn, and so he would make his way to his side and begin to inspect the wounds of his companion. "Hey bud, you doing alright?"

He would clap his friend on the shoulder, before also descending the steps with Max and Isen.

Drow's Force Push-propelled stone ending up finding its mark in the Priest's chest but it didn't seem to matter in the end - Drastus had ended the mighty foe. The Ishi Tib would be lying if he said he wasn't impressed - it was certainly a better feat than he could have accomplished at that age. Drastus was certainly a bit hotheaded and Drow and him didn't necessarily always share the same views about the Order but damn the boy could fight and Drow was happy to count him amongst his allies.

"I'm alright, kid. I've been bear-hugged by a Wookiee before. It'll take more than that to stop me." Drow wryly grinned, affectionately patting Drastus on the shoulder and inadvertently getting blood on the man's clothes. Although his words were chipper, truthfully, Drow couldn't wait to hop in a bacta bath. He was cut up bad but he'd press on.

So it was finished just about as quickly as it had begun. Not that Jago was complaining. Whatever this cult was up to they had an opportunity to truly put an end to it now. He gave a quick nod to Master Max and joined the Jedi for the next and hopefully final step. He stepped over the fallen forms of the cultists and shook his head. This blood lust was done.

The Ithorian let a sigh of relief escape his mouths as the fight ended almost as swiftly as it had begun. Whilst certainly sad at the deaths they had been unfortunately unavoidable. At least none of the Jedi had seemed too badly off afterwards.

Patting his padawan on the shoulder the Ithorian nodded. “You did well child.” he assured her gently opening himself up to her through the force allowing the pride and love he felt towards his student radiate outwards

After a few moments he spoke once more. “Come there is yet more to do this dark day.” he said softly.

Striding fearlessly after Master Tionson the Ithorian would descend into the depths of the darkness below towards whatever awaited.

By the time Izel made it to the action it was already concluded, the warrior collapsing in two halves before her apprentice as she landed on the ground behind him. She looked down at the dead dark sider and then to Isen. There were still certain matters that had to be broached later, but in these circumstances she was much more understanding, even proud. It wasn't every Padawan that could defeat such a highly skilled opponent. She hesitated a moment before reaching out and patting her apprentice's shoulder, giving him a nod in return.

"Excellent work Padawan." She praised him as she extinguished her lightsaber. "Your skill with the lightsaber grows by the day." She inclined her head slightly and took on a joking tone. "Don't move too quickly now or you're going to make me look bad." Of course the lightsaber was never her first focus. And while she had certainly taken the time to improve her dueling talent over the years, it was still primarily a supplement for her combative use of the Force. She had no doubt one day, perhaps very soon, Isen would surpass her with the blade.

But matters still weren't entirely settled. They still had to put an end to this destructive cult once and for all. As Max moved on Izel fell in behind him, ready to face whatever was next alongside her allies.
