To say Oren's return to the Jedi temples on Ajan Kloss had been shaky would be an understatement. It had been two long years since he had vanished out of thin air, never to return, the temples walls while ancient and mostly the same, the interior and the feelings had slightly changed. It felt different here, new faces and some old, but it felt like he was a ghost walking through the halls of his life, he didn't know if he fit in quite much anymore, if at all.

He had long gave up his robes and opted for a short sleeve silk button down, which had been half tucked into a pair of smuggler's pants and captain's boots. With his one functioning eye, he looked more like a scoundrel than a Jedi. Across his left forearm was a large Rancor, inked to hold up a sign reading "CDRC-C-BLOCK" in Galactic Basic, as well as "Outsiders Club" inked across the forehead of the beast, the affiliation served as a reminder of the things he had done to survive. He was on his way towards the mess hall, but as he turned across the corner, a little ball of energy would come crashing into his life, symbolizing the second chance and rebirth he would be given.

"Master Oren!" Asaara exclaimed excitedly as the man rounded the corner. The small girl bounded up to the man, throwing her arms wide to embrace him around his waist. She squeezed him tightly, holding on to him as though he were going to disappear again right from underneath her arms. There were a couple of looks from the people milling about around them, though the majority went right back to their business. Asaara looked up at Oren, and a look of worried surprise etched itself into her features.

"Master Oren, are you okay?" Asaara asked, looking at the burn scar over his eye, noticing the fact that it was now a pallid white. "You disappeared for so long, and nobody would tell me what happened," she continued. She took a small step backwards, though still she held onto the man's robes with her small hands. She hadn't yet noticed the tattoo on his arm, transfixed as she was on the new scar covering his face. It reminded her of the burn scars on her own arm, but for some reason she doubted that they were much the same.

"Where did you go?" she inquired. "What happened to your face? Are you going to leave again?" Asaara inquired all in short order, hardly giving Oren a chance to breathe, much less reply to her bombardment of questions. "I missed you. You're not leaving again, are you? I don't want you to leave again," she continued, taking back what little ground she'd given up with another small step forward, arms wrapping back around the man to gingerly squeeze him again.

Oren felt a little ball of energy smack right into him with glee, "Master Oren," he would peer down to see the little blue hooded girl wrapping around his waste with a tight hug. As he peered down with his lone good eye, he would match that of the blue skin little Togruta peering up towards him with a wide smile.

"Asaara.." He'd say as his voice cracked, as his mechanical and flesh hand planted firmly on her shoulders. He could feel her focusing on the scars that covered the right side of his cheek and his dead eye. It was something he had to get used to, but it still felt weird. "I'm..okay," he'd say with a heavy sigh, as he understood just how hard and confusing it had to be.

He had known the girl her whole life, and to just up and vanish had to seem strange to the girl. He would get down onto one knee, as his hand took her own, "You've gotten so big," he'd say, as he tried to calm her flurry of questions. "Are you hungry? I was just going to get some food." He'd pull himself up, "We can talk there if you'd like..I'll try to answer all the questions you could have."

Asaara smiled at Oren as he lowered himself down to meet her gaze, placing both of her hands over his. As Oren answered her, her expression was equal parts confusion and joy. She was happy to see one of her favourite masters back at the temple, even if the circumstances of his disappearance and reappearance were both a mystery. As he commented about her growth, she beamed with pride.

"I've been doing my best!" she chirped happily. "I wanted to make you proud when you came back!" Asaara continued enthusiastically, giving Oren's hand a soft squeeze. "I'm getting better with my vibroblade, and my ability to use the Force is getting better too!" She paused. "Of course, without you around, it didn't get better as much as it could have, but now that you're back we can start again, right?" she pleaded. As the man proposed lunch together, she nodded. She was asking a lot of questions right now, she realised, and this was the first time she had seen Oren in a while.

"Yeah, let's do that! The kitchen has everything they need. I just went out the other day and picked up some things they needed," she said. Keeping Oren's hand in both of hers, she attempted to guide the man over to one of the vacant tables. "Let's sit here. I'm sorry for asking so many questions. I was just so happy to see you."

Oren had always enjoyed the fresh smells of the fruits that the students would collect, as well as the smell of fresh bread and steamed fish. The Master hadn't really eaten a proper meal in over two years, and to feel safe and at ease while eating was something that was going to take some time getting used to.

He would let the little student lead him towards a Vacant table. He would slide into a seat across from the girl, "Well, I cannot wait to see your training and progress," he would give the girl a slight squeeze with his lone flesh hand. "Your vibroblade training is going well and your force powers?" He thought back to the weapon and his own experiences, his lone functioning eye holding a pain that may be visible to the girl. "Do you have a master yet?" He would ask, though he was still caught up on something specific.

"I hope you're not treating the sword like a toy Asaara," his voice would crack as he took a heavy sigh. "It's okay, we've known each other for so long and I'm sorry for not coming to see you..if I could, I would have come sooner, to make sure you were okay and everyone else." His hand slightly trembled in her own, as the Master looked for all the courage in his bones to admit the truth.

"The reason was gone, was that I was in prison..I used my lightsaber to save a girl, do you know Padawan Lyra?" He'd let the words sink in, "I know what you're thinking, but Master Oren you saved her? Why would you go to jail?" His hand would intertwine with her own little fingers, "You see my little Bantha..I hurt a man with my lightsaber to save her, that man's life was changed forever and so..I had to pay for it." He could feel his eye slightly watering, but he did his best to hold it back, "Do you promise that you won't use the blade as a toy?"

"I'll show you sometime, I promise!"
Asaara stated cheerfully as the two sat down at the table. "N-No, I don't have a master yet. Maybe I'll have one soon. I really like Miss Mila," she replied. Her head canted at his comment about treating the vibroblade like a toy. The joy on her face faded a little bit, and she shook her head.

"No, Master Oren, I've never thought it was a toy," she replied. As he squeezed her hand and she felt him tremble, Asaara squeezed back. She had never seen Oren like this before, and the confusion was plain on her face. She listened intently as the man told his tale, of Padawan Lyra and his fight to save her life. The tale of the time he spent in prison, and the price that both he and the other man had to pay for their actions. Asaara looked down at her hand as Oren adjusted, giving his another squeeze in an attempt to try and offer some kind of reassurance.

"I promise I won't use it as a toy, Master Oren," she spoke with confidence. "I never did. I know it's something serious, and so is being a Jedi. I promise I'll always take it seriously," she continued. Her midnight blue eyes looked straight into Oren's as she spoke, not once breaking away. "I'll only use it if there's no other option, and I won't let you down. I don't want to see you sad. I want you to be happy with me and yourself. No matter what, you're always Master Oren to me."

Asaara smiled again, and the girl slipped out of her seat to walk over to Oren on the other side. She reached her arms out and embraced the man again, squeezing him tightly with her head against his chest. "I'm happy you're back," she echoed her sentiment from earlier. "No matter what It wasn't the same without you."

There was something about Asaara's cheeriness that brought any feelings of doubt in himself and the order down. How powerful the mind of a child can be. He felt her arms wrap around his back as she squeezed her head in towards his chest. He would embrace the girl, holding her, as she promised to never use the lightsaber without thinking. "I missed you too," he'd say with a soft voice.

He would allow her to pull away, putting on a fake frown as she mentioned Mila, a small smile formed on his face as he thought back to the old Twi'lek, his eye hinting that there may be more to them than just friends. "Oh really," he'd say with a raised brow, "I was actually looking for an apprentice myself." He'd chuckle as he leaned back a bit.

"I suppose, Mila could train you well." He'd tilt his head with a toothy grin, he didn't really want to mess with the girl, only tease. "So...what's the best meal this place has been serving since I've been gone?"

After pulling away, Asaara went back to her side of the table and sat back down. The girl beamed at Oren from across the table again, and as the man mentioned looking for another apprentice, her eyes went wide. She bobbed in her seat at the prospect, as if trying to contain a sudden extra burst of energy. As the topic shifted back to Mila the excitement shifted to contemplation, Asaara's lips pursing together thoughtfully. Her head tilted to the side.

"Could I be trained by both of you?" she asked. The look in Oren's eye hadn't escaped the Togruta's notice. Even though she knew not exactly what the look was, she knew it was still something all the same. "Padawans are allowed to have more than one master, right? Would I be allowed to have both you and Miss Mila as my masters?" she probed, leaning forward in her seat and over the table just a little bit. As Oren inquired about the best meal, Asaara leaned back properly in her seat again, her brow furrowed and her eyes shifted down to appraise one of the menus on the table.

"Well," she said, "a lot of it is still the same, but they recently added deep-friend nuna legs. I've had them before and they're really good! They disappear pretty quickly too," she began to elaborate. "They've also started keeping meiloorun fruit, and those are really good too! They're better snacks than a real meal, though. I'd get the nuna legs if they still have any left!" the girl finished her explanation, and none too soon. The wait droid ambled up to the table with a tray in hand to take their order, and Asaara watched Oren intently to wait and see what he chose to order.

Oren would rest his chin against his robotic hand as he listened to her speak. There wasn't anything in the Jedi code that said one even needed a master at all. In all reality they were all teachers and students, the temple and the order was a community. Mila had raised this child just as much as he had. A small smile would form on the near human's face as the markings on his face slightly pulsed red.

"I'd have to ask Master Mila," he'd say with a chuckle, thinking back to the lavender skinned woman and their many adventures, "Something tells me she wouldn't mind."

He would place his hands on the table, drumming them slightly as she spoke about the fried legs and various foods. "They sound lovely..when I was child growing up here, they would have these little frosted cakes that were cool to touch and would slowly warm when you put them in your mouth..I believe we called them Hoth Cakes." A small twinkle would fill his eye, "Don't tell the grand master, but I used to sneak two or three every time we had them."

As the droid came over and asked for their order, he would pause, unsure of what to order. "Well...I'm going to let my little bantha here decide for me." He'd smile towards the girl.

"I'll ask her!" Asaara blurted out, launching up in her seat to stand up straight with her hands on the table. As soon as the girl made her outburst she looked over at the droid, who simply stared back at her with those vacant, mechanical eyes. She promptly dropped back down into her seat and cleared her throat anxiously, looking down at her lap to try and hide the blush now flooding her cheeks. "I-I'll ask her," she corrected herself quietly. "Anyway, d-do you have any deep-fried nuna legs left?" she asked sideways towards the droid.

"Yes, Lady Asaara," the droid confirmed.

"We'll... we'll have a plate of those," Asaara stated. The waiter droid muttered a reply before turning to shuffle away, and Asaara looked up at Oren before pulling down her hood. She offered him an awkward smile. "I've never heard of Hoth Cakes," she spoke quietly, absently clearing her throat again. "Y-Your secret is safe with me, Master Oren! I promise. Do you think you might be able to get some more?" she inquired, her head tilting to the side. "They sound neat. I'd like to try one myself. If not, it's okay." Asaara looked back down at the table.

"I really don't think Miss Mila would mind," she said. "She took me to... Dantooine, I think she said was the planet's name. We did some training there, and it went good, so I think she'll say yes." She looked back up at Oren with a pleading look. "Could we at least ask her together?"

The Jedi Master watched as the girl jumped from her seat with a proclamation that she would ask Mila about a joint training. He would tilt his head slightly, a small smile forming on his face. The droid simply stared at her, not processing the outburst of emotion, which left the girl slightly embarrassed.

"It's okay," he'd say in a gentle tone, "You're excited, and I don't blame you. The path to becoming a Knight and an adult is a challenging time, but I and everyone here believes in you." His mechanical hand would reach over to give her a gentle squeeze. His white eye shifting slightly to peer towards the droid, giving a curt nod.

"Hoth cakes, sure..I could pick some up, as a little gift." He'd pause, thinking about a potential excuse, "How about we bring some to her, as a gift to symbolize our joint training..would that be fun?"

Even though Oren had dismissed Asaara's outburst, she couldn't quite manage to abate the embarrassed flush in her cheeks. She pulled her hood back up over her montrals and her head, in spite of having taken it just down, to try and hide her face from not only Oren, but a few of the other mess hall patrons looking at her with smiles. As Oren proposed his idea, there was a meek nod from the Padawan as she kept her head low. She pulled her hands back and grasped at the fringes of her hood, drawing it closer about her face.

"Y-Yeah," she replied quietly. "I think it'd be fun, and I think M-Miss Mila would like the surprise too. E-Even if she says know, I still think it would be nice t-to get her a gift like that," she continued. Her head lifted again, and a single, small blue eye peered out between a small opening in the front of her hood. It was a rather comical thing to see, Asaara's montrals squished together at the base of her neck, her eyes peering out from the small slit caused by their interference. No doubt the girl would have become even more flustered were she able to see the stifled smiles and chuckles at her antics. It was probably best that she didn't know.

"S-Speaking of training, Master Oren," Asaara piped up again, just as quiet as before. "Do you think that w-we could have another training session together sometime? I-It feels like it's been a long time, and even though I'm t-trying to learn from the other masters, I feel like I always learned best from you." There was a brief pause. "N-Not to say any of the other masters are bad at teaching! J-Just, I feel like we always worked really well together..."
