Opulent Pearl || Polar Region, Ord Mantell

The pieces of the chessboard were in place. Ord Mantell's underground had now sworn fealty to Mordeth the Hutt. Few fools stood in her way. But there was still one person on the planet that she needed to bring to her side. Senator Phineas Hawthorne was the planet's representative to the Free Worlds Alliance and the Galactic Senate. Word on the street had it he was also a world-class thug. Which meant one of two things. Either he was going to be a rival for the throne of crime lord of Ord Mantell, or he would be a subservient ally.

Mordeth had a good idea which she would prefer. So, she sent the Senator an invitation to her yacht, the Opulent Pearl. The Pearl was where she liked to conduct business. When the Senator arrived for his appointment, an elevator would bring him to the floor second from the top, presenting him with a stunning view of Ord Mantell's polar region. She had cleared out her schedule for this meeting, leaving the vast parlor usually reserved for parties just for the two of them. Drinks and foods were sat out of his pleasure, while she sat upon her throne, surrounded by Weequay and newly-minted Trandoshan guards.

She hoped he would find the accommodations pleasant. After all, she wanted a good working relationship with the Senator. Bloodshed was so very bad for business. @Charles

What a wonderful surprise this was. First, Phineas Hawthorne was released of Black Sun after some nasty-ass slug decided she was in charge as of now, stripping the Senator's desire to kill them off himself. Then, she dared to invite, who the locals now called, the Prince of Ord Mantell, to discuss...business, was it? Well, Phineas wasn't going to bow down or anything. This was his turf. Not Mordeth's. Senator Hawthorne was here simply to remind her of just that.

Upon entering the Hutt's yacht, he briskly walked passed security without giving a care in the world that he still had his trusty Ranger blaster pistol holstered on his left thigh. Phineas had diplomatic immunity- if anyone tried so much as poke the Senator, the yacht would be brought down faster than you could say 'Sleemo'- and he was going to abuse every second of it just to make a point of how serious he was about getting rid of his competition.

Not only did the Senator have very good connections with the ISC's Syndicate Task Force as well as the good relations with the Wookiees of Kashyyyk and the people of the Tanaab, but the ace he secretly carried up his sleeve was his connections to the Crymorah Syndicate. All Phineas had to do was cry wolf, and the giant slug before him would be at the mercy of the entire galaxy.

"Greetings, Mordeth! Did you know your name is literally 'More-Death'? Very unflattering- have you ever considered changing your name to something that has a nice ring to it? Like latrine? It's better than 'Shit-House'."

The Senator thought too highly of himself. He walked in alone, armed (though the weapon was not in hand at the moment), and quick with the insults. But the Hutt merely yawned. Clearly he had not dealt with a Hutt crime boss before. Mordeth had not come unprepared. She had worn her armor to this meeting, the skulls of the gang bosses she'd killed to get her new position hung around her neck as a sign of what she was willing to do to keep power.

And she was not the type to suffer insults. Not after she had rolled out the red carpet to do business with the Senator. So, when he came barreling into her throne room, spitting insults at her left and right, she simply raised her wrist and pressed the button there. A jet of flames would spit out from the tip of the weapon that would extend to a total of three meters, more than enough distance to reach the Senator's unarmored face and leave him roasted on her floor.

But, just in case he tried to duck and roll away, she would be prepared to track his movements with her flamethrower.

The two guards on either side of her—one Weequay and one Trandoshan—saw their master in peril and also opened fire on the stranger, firing two shots each into his chest. They were well paid to point and shoot at what their master pointed and shot at, and they weren't about to let this man escape after having insulted her so brazenly in her own throne room. @Charles

Okay, so maybe throwing around insults was not the best way to go about meeting the Hutt, but hey, Phineas needed to act stupid. Regardless of how badly he, himself, actually hated doing it, it was necessary to keep his identity as the Sun-Eater a secret.
But again, Phineas acted stupid.

Phineas knew better than to stand too close to the rancid smelling Hutt, but the flamethrower still caught him off guard. Bracing himself with his forearms, the flames raced up his very expensive suit coat.
"Hot-hot-hot-hot-hot-hot!!" The Senator tore the coat off and threw it at one of the Trandoshan guards so he wouldn't be able to pull a shot off of Phineas without sizzling a little himself. With the small distraction, Phineas flung his BM-357 Python into his hand in a rapid quickdraw to shoot the other opposing lizard guard before switching targets to the flaming lizard, all the while backing up out of range from Mordeth's little flicker-fire-inator.

But the smoking Trandoshan had gotten the suit coat off of himself faster than Phineas anticipated and a blaster bolt connected to the Senator's thigh, bringing Phineas down to his knee.

"Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!" Phineas put his hands up, blaster still in hand, but his hands were up at least. "C'mon! We can be civil- was it something I said? Look, look...You've got a nice place that you were so nice to have set up just for me. I appreciate that. How about we start over." Phineas winced when he stood up, hands still up just in case. "I did not come here to fight. I prefer business. I think you do, too. You got rid of Black Sun, in which I'm very grateful for- but you see...One of my clients is a little pissed off. You stole the turf that rightfully belonged to him and now my ass if on the line and it's going to be a really terrible fiasco for the both of us." The Senator took his hands down slowly, side eyeing the Trandoshan guard every now and then.

The com on the underside of his wrist was just waiting for Senator Hawthorne to press. It was his back up that was waiting not-s-far-far-away in case things got dicey and when the shooting started, he was tempted to press it, but his gut told him to try and deescalate the situation.

"You've got connections...I've got connections. Maybe we should work something out that works for the both of us that doesn't result in the other becoming a terribly smelling corpse. If I die, you'll be screwed. If you die, I'll be screwed."

A/N - An agreement was reached here.

-

The flames engulfed the Senator, and Mordeth's guards' shots connected. It only took seconds for Phineas to die. For a long while, Mordeth sat and watched him burn, desperately trying to fan the stench out of her nostrils. Then she turned to one of the guards that had fired on him and nodded. He didn't need further orders. He retrieved a fire extinguisher and quenched the flames, leaving the Senator's charred remains to sizzle on the floor of the throne room.

«Ciheu tah bimhee, an koose mi bo phona che mah pehot,» she said to her guards. «Fa baa wa yanka da tah gee bai wen du cahwahh. Jee doth hee kutata kreesta bai bu yanee jeejee hatkocanh woy pin.»

As the Weequay guard went off to fulfill Mordeth's orders, the Trandoshan guard hung back, glancing sideways at her. «Will the Senate retaliate?»

«Siw,» Mordeth replied. «Um Jee dayan bai woy fa puohe bai bu baua Benbepoka da tah doth mah hahwa ateema. Twa yinba tee caie kohcha don mah bunko an matmaph koi mi peee bu Banokon gee.»

«I'll prepare a transmission when you're ready, Great Mordeth,» the Trandoshan said.

Mordeth nodded. Yes, it was time to declare her turf. Time for the other Syndicates and for the Hutts to stop cowering. And it might as well stop with her.
