Drow Venn stood in the same stream on Yavin IV where he had first met his Padawan, Javelin Kel. Well, technically they'd seen each other before but it was here where they'd first spoken to one another and the young human had asked him to become his Master. Drow was hesitant to accept at the time - he considered himself still a student and was honestly surprised that they'd let him become a Knight, much less a Master. But Drow had accepted and promised to train the boy upon his return from Kessel.
Of course, Kessel hadn't gone swimmingly - he and his fellow Jedi had been captured and stripped of their lightsabers, forcing them to make a detour to Geonosis to recover a lost cache of kyber crystals to rebuild their sabers. Drow examined his newly constructed saber. Its hilt resembled that of a vibrocutlass - a weapon common on his aquatic homeworld of Tibrin. It was a weapon he'd grown accustomed to using as a mercenary and although using a cutlass was different than using a rapier, its design still complemented his chosen style of Makashi well.
For now, he'd set about preparing for his first lesson as he waited for Javelin to arrive. He practiced swinging his new saber, still growing accustomed to the weapon. He'd faced monumental battles before but teaching absolutely terrified him. Swordplay at least took his mind off his own nervousness.
