Fiach cocked her head to one side as Kegari spoke. It was an interesting notion that the blonde Padawan herself had initiated.

“Special? Blessed? Maybe so. In as much as we have been given a special ability – not one that the average person has. But maybe it is what we do with that ability that has the potential to define us as special. Not to use it for personal gain, which a great many would no doubt do – but to utilise it for the benefit of others. To be selfless in all ways. To be prepared to give until there is nothing left to give but life itself. Maybe that does make us special. Not better…definitely not, but different, yes.”

Kegari sighed as they approached their destination. After what felt like an eternity, she was thankful that they were finally here.

“Oh I know, I just don’t know why the Force chose me. I suppose I will learn that in due time”. Kegari replies as she grew more nervous as the ship came to a halt. She didn’t know what to expect since she’s never been anywhere else.

Kegari waited for further instruction to exit the spacecraft. As she waited, she looked outside the window of the spacecraft, she saw the Jedi Order headquarters. It wasn’t fancy by any means, but it was definitely an improvement to what she was used to.

“I’m guessing this is the headquarters”? Kegari nervously asked.

The voices in her head began again, she was sure they were talking to her now. She still couldn’t tell who they were though. She tried to block them out as they were more prominent now after her arrival.

Fiach nodded. “I suspect most, if not all of us, will never know why we were born Force Sensitive. To be fair, it’s not something I think about any more. I am, and it is why I’m here. To me, that’s all that really matter.”

“And talking of here, this was originally a Resistance base, here on the jungle moon of Ajan Kloss. I suspect it’s grown a lot since then – and the records suggest as much too. But essentially it is the same layout. There’s the starfighter landing zone and the multi-purpose cave that used to serve as a command centre for the Resistance. A place where two of the Skywalkers once walked.”

“Of course, now it is more heavily populated. The most relevant part for us is the Jedi Academy, which is where I’ll take you first – and introduce you.”

Kegari looked around as Fiach explained, and nodded in acknowledgement. She then walked out of the spacecraft and walked out onto the ground.

“I know, it’s just when you never really known anything other than being on a planet for Wookiees. You kinda question your purpose. But I get it, it doesn’t matter why, but how we use our Force sensitive abilities is what really matters”. Kegari replies as she walked towards the Jedi Academy.

The voices grew louder, more prominent than ever. So loud she stopped in her tracks. Kegari wasn’t sure she would make it without any issues, or doubts.

She subtly brushed it off although it was still pretty intense. She continued to walk towards the Jedi Academy as she awaited what was to come next.

Maybe that’s what the voices were trying to tell her, that this was her destiny or that her actions will have consequences. Whatever none of that matters, she was going to control her destiny. And her destiny awaited her, whatever that may be.

Fiach walked down the ramp of the ship as they felt the humidity of the jungle moon. Of course, to Kegari, it would not seem a culture shock. For Fiach – who had only ever known deserts – it had been a real change.

She nodded at Kegari as she spoke. “Precisely,” she said. “I can’t say I necessarily questioned my purpose but right now, all that matters is what I do, how I use my connection with the Force.”

“I’ll make the formal introductions and then, after that, I’ll need to go about my studies. We’re bound to bump into each other from time to time – and if you have any questions, I’m more than happy to answer them.”

Kegari sighed as she awaited for the introduction, she wasn’t sure what came next but then again what was she supposed to know.

“I understand, I’m not sure where I’m supposed to go from here”. Kegari admitted as she looked around unsure of everything and began to overthink the entire situation. She tried to fight it but in the back of her head she was still underestimating of what she could potentially be capable of.

She shouldn’t though, the voices in her head had lead her here although she had no real guidance other than those voices and the help of Fiach. “It’s gonna be okay”. Kegari whispered to herself as she awaited for further instruction.

Fiach guided Kegari to the entrance of the Academy and quickly explained that, in her untrained Padawan way, that she believed Kegari to be Force sensitive and that she was going to leave her newest acquaintance in their capable hands.

Fiach turned to Kegari, “I suspect they’ll welcome you, perform the midichlorian test and then chat. See what you know of the Force and your powers and what you’d like to be able to do. Then you’ll get enrolled in classes and then you can seek a Master. There are many around, so it shouldn’t take too long. Most of your training can happen here. Your Master will help by taking you on missions and giving you some one-to-one tuition.”

Kegari entered the temple, as expected there would be a formal introduction and then they will perform a midichlorian test whatever that was supposed to mean.

“Very well” the Jedi looked to both the Padawan and myself. He then looks to me and asked for a formal introduction. “I’m Kegari of Pantora, although I’ve lived in Kashyyyk my whole life, my acquaintance here well she suspects that I could be Force sensitive and well that is what brought me here”.

“Well there’s only one way to find out, and that’s by performing a midichlorian test”. The Jedi looked to me and motioned for me to come. I walked with him and awaited for further explanation.

“Kegari, how long have you known about this”? The Jedi asked me. “I’m not so sure, Master... or whatever they call you. I’m sorry. Just one day I started hearing voices in my head and then sometimes the voices got so intense my head would hurt”. I explained to the Jedi my situation.

“It’s possible”. The Jedi sighed and motioned me to follow him. He then took me to the medbay where a medical droid stood and greeted us.

“Greetings I’m 2-1B Surgical Droid, what brings you to the medical bay”? “Midichlorian test” The Jedi replies and pointed in my general direction. “Ah, I know just the thing, I will be right back, and for you young one, you will follow me”. The droid motioned for me to come with him and then tells me to sit down and relax as he gets a syringe and a sanitary wipe and then wipes my skin down with the wipe. I continued to watch as he grabbed the syringe and gently places the needle into my blue skinned arm and collects a blood sample.

“Very well, young one”. The droid said as he finished up getting the blood sample. He then motioned for me to rejoin the Jedi. “She’s all done, we should know results in a few days”. The droid explained. I stood a bit lightheaded from the blood extraction. But it would come to pass, and I felt okay a few minutes later.

“So what does this test determine”? I asked still unsure about everything. “Ah young one, how many Midi-chlorians are in your system, your connection to the Force”.

The Jedi explains as I looked around and then back at him. “So does that determine whether or not I’m a Jedi”? I asked it may have been a foolish question but as a newcomer I still didn’t understand everything.

“Oh patience young one, you will learn the ways of the Jedi through training. It’s how you use your connection with the Force is what makes you a Jedi. It’s what’s in here”. The Jedi explains to me as I listened intently at everything he said and he pointed to his heart as he said the last part.

“But be careful, as temptation is easy. You will face many trials that may tempt you to fall to the Dark Side, the real test lies within whether or not you can resist those temptations“. The Jedi explained and I listened. The Jedi lived a tough life, but at the end of the day they were serving the greater good of the Galaxy. And that alone was the most amazing thing about them.
“Can you train me”? I asked the Jedi.

“Unfortunately no, as I am just a guard. You will need to find a Jedi Master, and then from there you will begin your training”. The Jedi explains.

Where was I supposed to begin? I thought to myself as he explains everything.

Fiach waited until Kegari was collected before heading back outside. She had to perform post-flight checks on her ship and then complete a mission log for the Council. Then, she felt as though she needed a long run before meeting her Master for today's lesson.

So, she headed to the canteen and grabbed a high-protein drink and some fresh water before making her way back to the hangar bay. She wondered what Kegari was up to now - but knew she was in safe hands and would be well looked after from this point on.
