Open A Knight to Remember

[Hera "The Joyful" Albion]

Throughout Alex's speech, and after, Hera could not remove the intense, joyful smile from her face. Her pride swelled in Dash, even as Alex whispered her words of encouragement to her, Hera couldn't do anything more than continue to smile. Stepping back as the party moved into full swing, Hera found herself fading back and away from the main group. Dash had come to his boyfriend and Erza reciprocated with an entwining of fingers. Her fears about the two of them melted away, and joy surged forth once more from the Jedi.

Leon was here, Ferrin was here, Kaisa, Maura, everyone, and they were all ready to party. Hera couldn't be more glad, even as she moved farther and farther away from the festivities and toward a small copse of trees. Far enough away to no longer hear anyone else, but close enough to see their joy. Sitting down at the base of the tree, Hera held her head in her hands and started to cry.

She was not upset, quite the opposite! Her Padawan had become a Knight, she couldn't be happier. The emotions within her had surged so strongly that she physically wasn't able to hold it all in. Away she sat, overwhelmed with joy, with warm tears slipping down her cheeks.

Dash was going to be amazing.

He wondered if he would have to make Ezra accept the hug, but to his surprise his boyfriend didn't resist. Maybe the Rhinnalian really had muscled his way in ahead of everything the young Thorne used to worry about.

It was like a dream to be together there in that moment, filled by good news and surrounded by friends and allies. Ezra's little smile topped it off.

"You mean you don't like capes?" Dash joked, tossing the little bit of silk hanging from his shoulder "because this little guy might just be the start!". He was still smilingly playfully, toying with Ezra, when those little ears twitched and his boyfriend said those three special words. Dash was so shocked he actually stopped smiling.

"I know" he replied softly, squeezing Ezra's hands "but thanks for saying it". It meant more to the Rhinnalian than he let on. His blue eyes hovered for a moment, fixed on those silvers. "I love you too. Now let's go get a drink".

He pulled Ez towards the bar before their friends had all the fun.

[Leon Baudelaire]

Leon’ sipped his beer and watched the exchange between Dash and Ezra. “What a couple of cuties,” he said under his breath a small smile on his face. Ferrin joined him and Leon slid over patting the vacant section of his skimboard affectionately.

“Hop on, big boy,” he projected toward the Pantoran. “Ha, tell you what, you let me pretend you're Jayna, and I’ll dance with you,” quipped Leon, who of course was very aware of his roommates' super hearing.

Dash and Ezra joined them by the bar and Leon figured it was as good a time as ever to give the new knight his gift.

“Made something for ya,” he said, suddenly feeling self-conscious. “Uh, it’s not like great or anything so, sorry, but, anyway here—” Leon stopped talking and shoved his bag toward Dash. “I didn’t have time to wrap it, cause Ezra started his three hour cleansing routine early.”

Inside the bag was a simple pauldron with a leather harness. At first glance it would seem ordinary, but the scale on it was an exotic deep green. Leon cleared his throat starting to rush his explanation realizing his vulnerability was showing. “It’s made from the first monster we defeated, that Anakkona back on Kashyyyk. Hope ya like it, but if not it's cool.”

Leon’s smile widened and he said, “Alright, now that the sappy part is out of the way will you please show us that crooked lightsaber!” said Baudelaire with a laugh.
