DESCRIPTION​

The 74-Y is a jumpspeeder - sometimes known as a speeder bike - manufactured by the Aratech Repulsor Company. First entering production prior to the Clone Wars, the 74-Y is essentially the civilian version of the company's military 74-Z jumpspeeder. Despite its age, the 74-Y remains a strong seller even today.

Though better appointed than the spartan 74-Z, the 74-Y is still considered bare-bones for the civilian market, although this perhaps is what gives it some of its appeal. Capable of reaching 450 kph and able to achieve an altitude of 20 meters, it can carry 10 kilograms of cargo - over twice that of the 74-Z - and is still armed with a light blaster cannon. A bit slower and lower to the ground than the 74-Z, and lacking its military sibling's built-in signal jammer, the 74-Y is still a fine utility speeder, and is widely used in remote, underdeveloped regions of the Galaxy.

The sum of all these parts and figures is a light, reliable utility vehicle, widely used by farmers, adventurers and others in need of swift, armed transportation. It can handle all kinds of environments without complaint, from fetid jungles to arid deserts. Though intended for the civilian market, the 74-Y is widely used by military personnel, and by various law enforcement agencies. Outlaws and vagabonds also make use of it.

LEGALITY​

Legal. 74-Ys are civilian models, and are unrestricted on most rural worlds. The type's armament may be restricted on more heavily urbanized or "civilized" worlds, however.
