DESCRIPTION​

The 614-AVA is a jumpspeeder - sometimes known as a speeder bike - originally manufactured by the Aratech Repulsor Company. Originally developed during the early years of the Galactic Empire, the 614-AVA was meant to supplement the standard 74-Z jumpspeeder which had been in service since the Clone Wars, but was to be better optimized for urban pacification and patrol, with a heavier armament and better low-speed performance. The 614 was accepted into Imperial service soon after it was unveiled by Aratech, but was ultimately phased out around the Battle of Yavin, with the standard 74-Z having been discovered to be perfectly acceptable in the new machine's intended role.

The 614-AVA is a light, powerful machine. Not as fast or high-flying as the 74-Z at only 375 kph and 15 meters max altitude, it nevertheless is a more stable design, better for the lower speeds of city driving, and is better armed with twin light blaster cannons rather than only 1 as with the 74-Z and its relations. The 614-AVA can also carry 10 kilograms of cargo, and can telescope its steering vane struts into the main body for more compact storage.

Though no longer produced by Aratech, the 614-AVA was sold off by the Empire after its retirement, and is still used by various post-Imperial military forces and law enforcement agencies. Many have ended up on the black market as well, and the type is commonly used by various outlaws.
