DESCRIPTION
The 5-555 express courier, better known as the "Quad-Five," is a fast cargo transport produced by Koensayr Manufacturing. One of the fastest starships in its price bracket, the Quad-Five boasts a class 1 hyperdrive and can reach a maximum sublight speed of 100 MGLT, faster than some starfighters, while still able to haul up to 10 tons of cargo. The ship can carry 2 passengers, and uses an astromech droid to perform hyperspace calculations; the ship's droid socket is located inside the cockpit, just behind the pilot seat. In the event of an emergency, the entire cockpit section of the ship can detach as an escape pod.

The Quad-Five does pay a price for its performance, however; the design is not as robust as some other ships, with no shielding whatsoever and only standard durasteel hull plating. It also possesses no armament, which does not allow it to exploit its fighter-like maneuverability in combat except as it applies to running away.

Many pilots seem to think that the trade-offs are worth the benefits in the case of the Quad-Five, and the type has sold well. It is used by many small courier services and independent spacers across the Galaxy, both in legal and not-so-legal pursuits.

LEGALITY
Legal. Star skiffs such as the Quad-Five are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.

INTENT
To create a standard fast courier ship.
