DESCRIPTION
The 11-3K Viper probe droid is an autonomous military reconnaissance platform originally manufactured by the Aratech Repulsor Company for the Galactic Empire. 11-3Ks can be used for any number of applications, from long-range scouting over interstellar distances using single-use hyperdrive-equipped deployment pods, to local patrol and sentry duty at garrisons or other important facilities. In Imperial service, they were commonly used for investigation, exploration and reconnaissance but were most famously adopted as protective security units for the Empire's coaxium operations at their facility on Vandor, programmed to activate and respond whenever the alarm system was compromised.

11-3Ks are complex machines, fitted with a slightly lesser host of sophisticated sensory equipment and useful tools than their Viper-class counterparts, though they do boast two motion detectors, giving the droid full coverage of its surroundings. 11-3Ks are just as capable of surveying a wide swath of territory, using a repulsorlift system for mobility. Equipped with a long-range communication suite, the droid can keep in touch with its masters many parsecs away. In general, 11-3Ks will accumulate data and transmit it in large encrypted blocks.

11-3K Viper probe droids, although primarily used for reconnaissance and monitoring, can be employed as effective combat units, essentially functioning as over-sized seeker droids. They are armed with two blaster cannons, located on the right hand side of their upper-body, capable of 360 degree fire thanks to a rotating collar assembly. In addition, the droid carried an integrated coaxial medium stun blaster on the left side of its lower-body, only able to fire forwards at a 90 degree angle.

Upon completion of its mission, the 11-3K will always attempt to return to its base or signal for retrieval. With significant defensive improvements on the Viper-class, the 11-3K does not carry a self-destruct charge and while by no means is invulnerable, is a much more viable choice for the economically minded individual.

Although the Empire is long gone, 11-3Ks do still see use, and are still manufactured by Aratech, although some modern classes of probe droid with both superior search and defensive capabilities are beginning to make them obsolete.

LEGALITY
Legal. Probe droids such as the 11-3K are permitted in most regions of the Galaxy.

INTENT
To create a Viper-class Probe Droid variant that sacrifices search efficiency for better defensive capability. The 11-3K does not have the capability to self-destruct and is programmed instead with the obligation to return with its findings intact at all costs, making it a more economically sensible probe droid than its parent model. Indeed they are so well optimized that they can be frequently found in use as security response droids.
