I think the question is if you're still wanting a Jedi. I completely understand not wanting to continue with a character, or changing what a character is for. If you're not connected or invested it becomes a chore to play them.

If you feel being a Senate member is a better idea, go ahead. I don't want to hold you to obligations you might not enjoy. While I still want to play a Padawan, I don't want that character becoming a reason someone doesn't enjoy their time here.
