Minor Mission Pack: Quit Hounding Us!
Below is a Minor Mission Pack I have crafted up, although I am fully aware that many Sector Rangers are actively busy in other threads and mission packs where the rewards or the risk are much more pressing/heavy; but I still wanted to put it up to offer some content ideas and give players a little bit of a breath. What I mean is that the below mission doesn’t have any set rewards for assets and is mostly just for fun; although depending on how things go, there might be a chance for the Sector Rangers to gain some favoritism with smaller villages or colonies.
It is very basic in nature and I have designed it to encourage some extra freedom. This is a great introduction for some new Rangers as well to allow for you the start meeting some of your fellow Rangers and their players if you’re new around here. These can be as low of a risk as you want them to be; this is a pack where you will face off against NPCs so you set the danger levels.
These missions are not designed to be long and exhausting (not unless you want it to be long, but not exhausting please…) You can pace yourself but try to go for a 24–48-hour cadence to keep things interesting and active. To add a little extra, add some dice and Self-DM the threads.
As a personal note – this is sort of a warmup for me and I hope to put some more stuff together the help out the Rangers as a faction.
You’ll have two options, you can either ask me to write the Intro Post for the threads (As the Storyteller) or you can take the direction and use what I’ve written here as a story suggestion.

Who’s it open to? Rangers and Jedis (Afterall, Kath Hounds are native to Dantooine) and maybe an Independents depending on the circumstances. Minimum 2 per thread and maximum whatever your group feels comfortable with.
What’s the Outcome? Undetermined of course! Maybe the Rangers will be able to shutdown or disrupt the operation, maybe they won’t, and maybe someone will go home with a Kath Hound pup! You decide!
Why? For fun. That is all!
Don’t sweat it my friends, have some fun; if you're interested just leave a post! If you've got some points or suggestions? Also put them down!
When I originally crafted this pack, I had designed it to roll through 5 possible threads. But after having a discussion, reviewing and rethinking the package I realized a simple thing... A 5 Thread pack with no real faction reward made no sense.
As a result of that revelation, Thread #3 and Thread #5 are completely optional and are considered bonuses. The fact is, the three non-bonus threads are a complete story in themselves.
If people want to do the bonus then feel free to do that, but at the end of the day - Thread 1, 2, and 4 are a complete story.

In the Inner Rim a new trend has emerged that has becoming a bit of a predicament for the locals. The trend of animal smuggling and fighting has become more and more active for people looking to make a quick credit – be it through gambling or smuggling the poor creatures. Although it’s not as pressing as some believe, it cannot be denied that it is happening and if it continues to happen, Kath hounds will once again become a rare species in the galaxy.
The thing about Kath hounds? They’re mainly gentle unless provoked or influenced to be more aggressive. It is a common animal to domesticate, and they can make exceptional guards for their owners. There once was a time that only the most rich and powerful had a Kath hound by their side, but over the years their population has managed to grow thanks to the preservation efforts of Jedi and other likeminded individuals. There is the occasional Kath Hound that is create specifically to fight, they are the horned Kath hounds.
Kath hounds can fetch a half decent price if you know what you’re doing. Can be used for illegal fights, but they are also very weak mined and can easily be twisted into weapons of war. They’re actually quite an asset to some. So why are the Rangers looking into this and not saying another local agency? Well that’s because the people who deal in this are less then friendly and further, the web is not constrained to a single system.
Thread #1: What the hound?! (Part 1)
Summary:
The Sector Rangers are dispatched to one of Onderon’s many walled cities to investigate a shut down an illegal casino established in the back rooms of a Cantina. The Rangers were requested due to the failure of Onderon’s own agencies, they just could not devote enough resources and establish firm evidence of the operation; they reached out to the Rangers to shut it down – there were also rumors of it’s connection with a known criminal operating off-world.
As the Rangers attempt to shut down the operation and begin clearing out the Cantina and it’s illegal dealings, the Rangers locate a secret room beyond the Casino; upon further investigation they discover several captive Kath Hounds, beaten, wounded, and aggressive. Upon further investigation of the room it is discovered that Kath Hounds were smuggled and raised to fight for entertainment and profits. The rangers then locate further information on the ring that points to one other possible location, for now it suggests that the operation is isolated.

Thread #2: What the hound?! (Part 2)
Summary:
On a hunch, and with the information gathered from the operation on Onderon, the Rangers investigate Taanab for any further leads; however, the Rangers have nothing more than the information gained from the previous operation and are not certain as to where to begin, as such they must find a lead.
Ultimately, the Rangers obtain a lead and investigate it to locate another illegal operation, but centered on the Kath Hounds, in fact they discover that this is the planet in which the Kath Hounds are trained and tainted to become the aggressors before being shipped to another location to generate credits for the operation. This is the “transfer” outpost for the hounds.
Once their task is completed and they investigate/interrogate some of the captives in order to obtain further information. The information gained consist of an idea of where the crime boss is hiding and working out of (Ord Mantell) but also reports of a new shipment of Kath Hounds bound for their destination to be “converted”. This results in the Rangers reaching out to try and dismantle the operation.
This is worrisome for the Rangers as they also discover multiple “orders” that have yet to be fulfilled.
Restrictions: Rangers Only (either continuation or others can investigate part 2 once being contacted by the part 1 rangers)

*BONUS* Thread #3: Handle with Care
Summary:
Armed with the knowledge that there is a shipment inbound to Taanab; Ranger HQ contacts Rangers close to the transport inbound and advise them to intercept and seize the ship, its cargo, and the crew in order to have them answer for their crimes; the information gathered here can outline the next shipment and where the crooks are obtaining their supply (beyond the obvious, Dantoonie being the native planet for the Kath Hound.)

Thread #4: Stop the Source
Summary:
The Rangers know the Kath Hounds are being gathered and captured from their native planet of Dantooine. With this information Rangers set out to disrupt the operation by stopping the capturing of the Kath Hounds. The Rangers were made aware of an outpost on the planet, carefully planned to avoid detection. A risky move given that the Jedi have a presence on Dantoonie.
In order to accomplish this disruption efforts, Jedi can be contacted to assist with the mission since they’re already present on the planet and would be able to at the very least secure the location until the Rangers arrive or take care of matters themselves as no living being should be subjected to captivity and being forced into fights.
The task force locates the crooks and engages them in an effort to disrupt the supply chain and to preserve the lives of the Dantooine wildlife.

*BONUS* Thread #5: You’ll be hounded!
Summary:
While the efforts are Dantoonie are underway to disrupt the operation, another task force reports to Ord Mantell in an effort to locate and capture the one responsible for the Kath Hound Smuggling before it reaches beyond Onderon and Tanaab.
The Task Force locates the crook’s base of operations and attempt to arrest their leader, but of course the baddies are not willing to give up so easily and put up a fight in order to protect their operation.
