Fathier Racing
Fathier Racing is a new sport brought into Star Wars with the release of the last movie (which our very own @Brandon Rhea actually starred in, as ‘All of the Porgs’) and something I would like to try out on SWRP. In the past, it has been tricky to get racing done right - so I have given some thought to a mechanic we could use to help us out. As such, I have the following rules I would like to test -
Section One -The Structure of a Race
1.0.0 - Races will be carried out at a set and dedicated Track, which will be shown and described in detail in the OP - posted by the Storyteller DM account.
1.0.1 - The Racetrack may be interacted with by the DM account only, to introduce obstacles into the field.
1.1.0 - Races will consist of two threads, the Race Thread and the Audience Thread.1.1.1 - The Race Thread will have the Storyteller Account and the Racers.
1.1.2 - The Audience Thread will have the Storyteller Account and spectators.Section Two - Race Mechanics
2.0.0 - Race mechanics refers to the system of posting that influences the race and the system of randomised probability that is used to influence this.
2.1.0 - At the start of the race, the storyteller account will open the thread stating -
- The description of the track.
- The Names and Numbers of all entrants.
- The Equipment of each racer.
- The Number of posting rounds the race will host.
...and then each Fathier (see section three for more information) will be mounted by their Jockey (a player or NPC) and will then have a posting round to head to the starting gates.
2.1.1 - The Storyteller will then make, at the end of the posting round, an Unmodified Dice Roll, of D(Number of Racers) to decide how the Fathiers start, and in what order.
2.2.0 - At the end of the first round of posting round, the Racing Rounds will begin, with each racer posting in the order than they are placed. The actions they take in the post will affect what modifiers the DM grants them.2.2.1 - At the end of the posting round, the Storyteller Account will roll again, with modifiers, and then post the Racing Order at the end of their post, to begin the next round. The Storyteller Account must make it clear which RACING ROUND we are on at the start and end of their post.
Section Three - Fathiers
3.0.0 - Fathiers are the only creature able to be ridden in these races, and are owned by Player Characters or NPCs, and then ‘leased’ out to Jockies.
3.1.0 - Fathier owners may do threads and plots outside of racing events to train their Fathier. This will provide - based on the Storytellers judgement - modifiers and perks in races.
3.1.1 - These bonuses for example could be - Strong Stamina - For one posting round, Kessel Run can add +3 to their modifiers on top of whatever the DM awards them.
Now, whilst these rules do drag on a bit, I am hoping it would add a it of random shenanigans to a race, and enable us players to have some way of observing, and ultimately deciding a winner - based on a combination of -
- PvP Style Posts which grant modifiers.
- Random Luck.
- Out of Race plots and threads awarding modifiers.
I have already gotten some interest in this before, so - if you want to give this a trial run, please let me know. Also @Malon (as our tournament Guru) if you have any feedback please let me know!
