R-Series Rokket
Description:
The rokket pistol gets its name from being an absolute powerhouse of a blaster. With a durasteel main body and a red titanium barreling the Rokket serves as a hefty blaster pistol by most any means. Made using experimental extra volatile gas to fuel its plasma bolts, the bolts fired from the weapon are superheated past what a normal bolt would with a greater diameter. The experimental gas is kept in small cylinders about 3 to 4 centimeters long, and can fire up to 4 successfully fired shots before having to be discarded.
The superheated plasma makes melting most metals easy. Rather than the projectile hitting a target and exploding immediately to leave a small blaster mark, once a successful hit is made a more potent burn that has a tendency to stick around for a brief period. All of the heat having nowhere to go, is absorbed by the target surface. This can have a variety of effects, but for the most part just turns a metal surface molten if the bolt is at or exceeds the melting point of the metal it hits. (You really don't want to get hit with this on bare skin or clothes)
Given that the blaster bolt is hotter than normal, the stress on the actual blaster is far greater. One shot offers decent recoil upon firing, and the barrel can overheat or even explode if the weapon is fired non-stop with quick succession when combind with fast reloading. The weapon begins overheating around the second shot if breaks aren't taken, and if stressed enough the heated metal in combination with the gas in the weapon will explode the device which generally speaking isn't fun due to the whole missing hands/forearms thing. The effectiveness of the weapon of course varies based on the surface it's striking, with things like phrik or similar materials rendering it somewhat of a redundant change from regular blasters. It is meant to go against mainstream armor materials, and while not just melting straight through the armor when a shot does connect the more prominent heat can leave greater burn wounds if the proper protections aren't in place.
The public at large getting their hands on the Rokket is near impossible, it being a pistol designed for the sole purpose of military and private militia use, with exceptions rarely occurring to this rule. The actual price of the weapon is rather expensive, way out of reach for most of the civilian population.
(Disclaimer: For the purposes of armor rating, bolts are counted as blaster bolts and do not offer advantage in pvp aside from giving off more heat to be transferred to whatever it successfully strikes. The power given off by the Rokket is roughly on-par with that of a rifle, with the gas used only being a slightly more explosive variant, but in exchange for that boost it lacks in ammo conservation when compared to other pistols.)
Intent: I initially wanted to look into exploding blaster bolts, rewatching scenes from the OG trilogy as well as the other movies made me notice the mild explosions whenever a bolt hit an object. (Various examples shown here) My original plan was to make bolts that were more potent in their explosive power, but after discussing the idea with a few others it shifted to superheated plasma and how it would be different from a regular blaster bolt. What ended up being discussed was more or less just a more potent bolt, one that did slightly more damage but also turned the blaster firing said bolt into something more dangerous for the user if they weren't careful. I feel like this could be a unique sidearm compared to the usual blaster pistols in pvp and pve fights.
