Affiliation: General Use. Widely used by the Grand Army of the Republic and Planetary Police Forces.
Ownership: N/A - Prices are rather hefty compared to most grenades.
Intent: Due to the volatile nature and dangerous situations surrounding bomb and IED situations, this grenade was created with the average soldier or riot police agent in mind, namely to quickly and efficiently disable a wide range of explosive devices, and render them as little more than a paper weight in situations where normally a bomb squad would need longer periods of time to deal with the problem.
Model: EMP Disabling Grenade, or simply "EMP Grenade."

Size: Slightly larger than a Fragmentation Grenade
Composition: A hard outer shell to protect the internal makeup of the device.
Range: As far as you can throw it. The device becomes more effective when directly applied to the target explosive, or if the explosive is within a 5 meter radius of the emp.
Description: Compact, easy to use, and effective, the EMP Bomb Disabling Grenade, or simply rendered 'EMP Grenade' is not your typical grenade, or more accurately described "device." Most people associate EMP technology with wiping out power grids and permanently damaging equipment, resulting in collateral damage due to the instantaneous disabling effect this technology has when it comes to speeders, flight craft, etc. This particular device however, has the potential to save countless lives.
Weapons designers under contract with the Republic military have developed a way to measure the output of the pulse emitted from this 'explosive,' for lack of a better term, to be concentrated into a fairly small bubble. The pulse this device is capable of emitting is most effective with the device directly applied to the explosive to be disabled. If the explosive is within a five meter radius of the device, tests have shown the pulse to be strong enough to disable more common variants of explosives, such as those used for breaching, mining, and lower grade military explosives. The higher grade the explosive, such as military grade explosives designed for leveling buildings, or those with more complicated internal systems, the closer the device should be as a general rule of thumb as the pulse grows weaker as it reaches the extents of its 5 meter range.
While the grenade was designed with disabling explosives safely and quickly in mind, the EMP charge is also effective in disabling weaponry, namely in frying the powerpack or 'clip' of the weapon itself, and electronic/mechanical equipment on a person if they fall within that blast radius. This is really only effective in smaller pieces of equipment as described above, namely small arms, explosives, even against droids. Larger electronics/devices/machines such as speeders, control consoles for turrets, etc., would experience a level of temporary disruption, but would otherwise remain undamaged.
Ion charges are considerably more effective when used against military machinery and droids, considering the more lethal blast Ion charges emit, whereas these grenades are not lethal by any means.
The overall enclosure of the device is larger than your average grenade, and is not suited to being fired from grenade launchers, as they cause all known launchers to jam and even overload in extreme cases.
