Ha’rangir’s Chosen
Ha’rangir’s Chosen is descended from an ancient warband of Mandalorian mercenaries. Tracing their lineage back by more than a Millennia, Ha’rangir’s Chosen claim to have been founded during the great war that ended with the treaty of Concordia itself. While the veracity of this claim is dubious, it is without a doubt that the involvement of Ha’rangir’s Chosen has been documented in several major conflicts stretching back for at least the last several centuries. Named after the Mandalorian god of war, Kad Ha’rangir, the Chosen were likely at one time religious mercenaries, waging war to satisfy their deity. While these days are long forgotten, an element of superstition remains within Ha’rangir’s Chosen, with many members still paying tribute to the ancient Mandalorian gods of old.
Ha’rangir’s Chosen is composed primarily of Mandalorians and their analogues, people from the respective planets of Kalevala and Concord Dawn, as well as Mandalore’s moon Concordia. However, while Mandalorans make up the large bulk of the mercenary force, the Chosen do not turn away those who are of different cultures or species. While some would be concerned that this practice might dilute the Mandalorian values and traditions of Ha’rangir’s Chosen, over the centuries this has proven to not be the case, with the new members usually taking on many of the views and beliefs of those around them. In the event of massive casualties, it is not unknown for Ha’rangir’s Chosen to hold large open recruitment sessions, taking on many individuals of varying age, culture and species to replenish the Chosen’s forces.
Being of Mandalorian origin, the members of Ha’rangir’s Chosen are not expected to follow a particular dress or armor code. Instead the warbands soldiers are free to wear whatever uniform or armor they wish, which does lead to a somewhat irregular appearance. Many of the soldiers paint their armor’s in outlandish patterns and color schemes, completely personalized to their personal preference. More pragmatic members stick with darker tones or practical camouflage patterns. The only exception to this is in the case of mass recruitments, during which the new members-in-training must wear specific uniforms and color schemes, and are only allowed free of this restriction once they have proven themselves in battle.
Despite their mysterious origin and unregimented appearance, Ha’rangir’s Chosen have a reputation of professionalism and efficiency on the battlefield. With a reputation for excellence built up over centuries, work is not hard to come by for Ha’rangir’s Chosen. That said, the mercenary band has fallen on hard times over the last several decades. The Galactic Republic has been at ease after one hundred years of peace, the Sith having disappeared for an equal length of time, and the government of Mandalore grows fat with complacency while its more militant minded people bolster the ranks of the Border Alliance. The rise of core based PMC’s has pushed Ha’rangir’s Chosen further rimward, seeking unspoiled markets for their services.
Aegis Defense Industries
Aegis Defense Industries (ADI) was founded to protect the galaxy from the Sith and serve the Republic alongside (yet independently) from established governments. Founded by former Border Alliance soldiers, as well as Planetary Defense leaders, Aegis aims to support and defend the Republic from threats and attacks on its sovereignity. In this capacity they act as a kind of disaster relief, intervening to save worlds that are suffering from flooding, revolutions, or terrorist attacks. However, ADI makes it primary profit as a Private Military Company (PMC), in which capacity she can be hired by clients both private and public to fulfill various military roles.
A highly competitive market led to ADI being bought out by the Ha'rangir's Chosen. Its interests divided between numerous shelf companies owned by a trio of wealthy individuals with Caedryn Viszla owning 51 percent and the rest divided between investors Talia Al'Saif and Menderling Smollet. The ownership of Aegis is a close kept secret, and no physical ties can be found to link the two organizations together. It provides a legal front for the Chosen while when dealing with the Republic, and allows ADI some independence under the new management of Talia Al'Saif. It's previous director, Vallana Krass, has retained her title and remains an important link between the new management and Rancor Company.
Intent
To provide a fun and engaging story of a tight woven band of mercenary warriors. With a Mandalorian background and core player group this will allow the exploration of cultural and religious ideas within such a group, and how they interact between themselves as well as outsiders both on and off the battlefield. By allowing non Mandalorian characters into the faction, players will be able to explore the concepts of brotherhood between warriors with varied cultural and religious backgrounds, and how such interactions affect and motivate changes in character’s view and beliefs.
Given the mercenary nature of the group, the faction will facilitating cross faction interaction through “contracts” with main factions as well as other independent factions or Characters who can afford Ha’rangir’s Chosen’s services, contributing to the overall war story as well as the personal stories of individual members and factions. These “contracts” will allow the members of the faction to roleplay with and against a large variety of players and characters. This dynamic will create many story opportunities that might not be available otherwise, allowing characters to fight alongside each other and form bonds in some missions, and later having to wrestle with the moral dilemma of working against characters that they have become familiar with during previous “contracts”.
With the addition of Aegis Defense Industries, which will serve as a Republic front company for Ha’rangir’s Chosen, the faction will have the freedom to accept contracts from both sides of the war with little to no repercussion, with ADI serving as the primary Republic contractor, and Ha’rangir’s Chosen hiring out to either faction. The faction will continue to only accept short term contracts, to prevent permanent employment by a single faction, but will be able to accept contracts with the same faction back to back if it is deemed appropriate by the Faction Leader. A "Contract" will essentially consist of a mission pack, either carried out completely by Ha'rangir's Chosen, or cooperatively with members of the hiring faction. The results of these mission packs will be for the benefit of the hiring faction, while Ha'rangir's Chosen will benefit through the monetary or asset gain of completing contracts, which can be put towards maintaining and expanding the faction.
While i do intend to grow and expand the faction as any other indie faction would, the aspect of independent factions that i find most important is the storylines and character development opportunities it provides to the players and the site as a whole. To this end, as the faction grows and expands, I plan on allowing the faction to be shaped by the player interactions within and outside of the faction, as well as the interactions the faction has with others. I feel this organic growth is suited to creating a unique and engaging faction that will provide many story opportunities throughout the site.

Ha'rangir's Chosen
Though the mercenary band of Ha'ranger's Chosen has a long and storied history, in recent years they have found their numbers dwindling down to one company's worth of soldiers. Made up of three hundred highly skilled and fierce fighters, Basilisk Company is a force to be reckoned with. Comprised mainly of Mandalorian soldiers who have left their homes for the mercenary lifestyle, there are also a few non-Mandalorians who have been accepted into their ranks.
Basilisk Company is primarily an infantry company, focusing on small scale engagements and guerilla warfare operations. They do however have a small amount of air support, represented in the few starfighters and bombers that Ha’rangir’s Chosen owns. Also possessing of a few warships and their crews, which are used primarily as mobile command centers and troop transports, as naval battles are far too costly for the group to engage in unless the situation desperately calls for it.
Ha’rangir’s Chosen also maintains a few facilities on various planetside. On the little known and difficult to reach planet of Roon, the Chosen maintain a secret mountainside military installation known simply as "The Base". Used as a meeting place and fallback position in the event of major catastrophe. Ha’rangir’s Chosen also maintains a Recruitment and Contracting facility on Mandalore. The Mandalore facility focuses mostly on recruiting new soldiers from Ha’rangir’s Chosen’s home planet, as well as serving as a focal point for those who would wish to hire the mercenary company.

Aegis stands at roughly 100 marines of Rancor Company who are some of the fiercest defenders of freedom the galaxy has ever seen. These soldiers come from all walks of life, including the former Border Alliance, the GAR, Planetary Defense Forces, and other specialty fighting forces. Rancor Company is both specialized in frontal assault, and stealth infiltration. Aegis also plays host to the mysterious Kalak Squadron, a secretive force of elite commandos that often work with Rancor Squadron. Only a select handful of individuals know the truth behind Kalak Squadron's origins, the truth being that they are actually members of Ha'rangir's Chosen. Kalak Squadron often supplements Rancor Company when they lack the forces or skill sets necessary for a contract.
