Hi everyone. I can now announce that the Hutt Cartel has a new faction leader! But first, I want to say something regarding what I said in this thread, where I told everyone what we expected out of a new faction leader. In that thread, I talked about issues facing the faction and I talked about it in very blunt terms. I was overly harsh in the application thread, and I did exaggerate the issues in the Hutt Cartel. But I did that on purpose. All of the factions have had issues for way too long, and it's true that the Cartel's solutions to those problems are less obvious due to the faction's less obvious place in a war between Jedi, Sith, and Rebels.
That's exactly why I was overly-harsh. We wanted to find a faction leader who will be motivated in spite of that. We wanted to find a faction leader who is willing to challenge assumptions, challenge other people when they think those people are wrong, and, most importantly, challenge the real problems by presenting solutions. Too often on this site, people don't say what they really think and instead put on a happy face and just nod their head when admins talk. Especially when I talk. I hate that. So having FLs who will actually express their opinions rather than buying into this myth that I or the staff don't allow for disagreement is important.
We have found that FL for the Hutt Cartel. Please join me in welcoming ZayPat as the new Hutt Cartel faction leader!
Pat has great ideas for the few months we have left in the timeline, and he knows that we expect them to carry them out. He very much challenged the points laid out in the application thread, so he fulfilled that expectation very well. We're excited to see his leadership and see him execute the plans he's laid out.
