DESCRIPTION
The YT-2400 light freighter is a versatile transport ship designed and manufactured by the venerable Corellian Engineering Corporation in the decades prior to the Clone Wars. Part of CEC's YT line, the YT-2400 was the intended successor to CEC's vaunted YT-1300. This was not the first attempt CEC had made at replacing the aging but still wildly popular design, and with the memory of the YT-2000's failure still relatively fresh in the minds of the designers, the company took its time making a truly superior ship.Like the YT-1300, the YT-2400 is a freighter pilot's ship, designed for easy upkeep and customization with good reliability and a highly modular design. The type boasts a class 2 hyperdrive, a top speed of 65 MGLT and a cargo capacity that is half again as large as the YT-1300 at 150 tons. The ship has a crew of 3, plus 6 passengers and 2 months worth of consumables.
While the YT-2400 never attained the popularity and sales figures of the iconic YT-1300, it was the envy of many pilots, and proved a respectable seller for CEC. In the present day, not nearly as many YT-2400s as YT-1300s remain in service, but the type can still be found. They are actually considered a better deal for more serious collectors, owing to their superior specifications and not nearly so many "casual" enthusiasts inflating prices on the used market.
