DESCRIPTION​

The Sheathipede-class transport shuttle is a relic of the Clone Wars. Originally manufactured by Haor Chall Engineering, a corporation founded by the engineering cults of Xi Char to market the products of their "worship," the Sheathipede was used as a shipboard launch and VIP transport by the Confederacy of Independent Systems. After the defeat of the CIS, many war-surplus Sheathipedes wound up on the open market, where they have gone on to serve long careers. Though a very old design by now, the type can still be found in the hands of pilots and collectors across the Galaxy.

The Sheathipede is a simple craft, flow by a crew of 2, plus an integrated astromech data-brain. This brain performs hyperspace calculations in place of a dedicated navicomputer, and can actually fly the ship itself if necessary, although it is not able to perform certain complex evasive maneuvers. If left without frequent memory wipes, the ship will develop a distinct personality which may influence flight characteristics and other functions. The Sheathipede can also carry up to 10 passengers, plus consumables for up to a standard week in space and 1 ton of cargo. Performance is good, with a top speed of 60 MGLT and a class 1 hyperdrive. The ship is unarmed, but does possess a light deflector shield for defense.
