Nick pulled up the collar of his jacket against the rain as it increased slightly. He had been watching the alleyway from down the street for the better part of the morning. He thought maybe he would get lucky and see the gangster he was looking for. It was never that easy, but it was always worth a shot.

He wasn't even sure if this was one of Roz's warehouses, the street rat that had given him intel was just as likely to lie to him than give him good information. He would sit on this place for a few more minutes before moving on to other options. He was pretty sure the Grindalid slaver was in Coronet City, but the city was big and no one seemed ready to talk. She must be pretty ruthless to have such an iron grip over the area, usually, a couple of credits would get people singing.

He finally saw two rough-looking thugs move down the street, carrying some time small crate. He pressed back into the shadows a bit as they turned down the alleyway. He expected them to go into the warehouse, but they instead walked past the door and continued down the alleyway. Nick huffed in frustration before he noticed them lift up a cover at the back of the alleyway. They disappeared beneath the street, likely to some sort of sewer entrance.

He gave it a moment, and when no one else followed he made his way to the sewer entrance.

Nick was not the only one who had been following the thugs with the crate, she had heard there was a cop or something asking questions and that seemed to move around faster than most realized. Thalia did not mind though, they would hopefully be a distraction from her own nosiness as she went poking around to see what good ol' Roz was up to these days. She heard there was a pricey exchange and she had her goons take the item back to her warehouse to be stored for an undisclosed amount of time. In a way Thalia felt annoyed that something so beautiful would be hidden away from others to see. She followed from their pick up location, a speeder's jump to the passage to Roz's warehouse.

There was something she couldn't quite shake, a feeling that stirred every so often, but she couldn't make any meaning of what it was trying to communicate. Most of the time she ignored it, but as she reached the warehouse, it seemed ever more bothersome. Thalia felt annoyed, but pushed herself to keep focus.

From her position, she could watch the thugs move down the alleyway and soon another individual followed. Her brow narrowed with interest and she wondered if that was the cop that was rumored to be asking questions in the area. As he would follow the thug's trail, she also followed him. The rain drowned out any sounds of foot steps or breathing as Thalia quickly approached, blaster drawn until she was directly behind him, pressing the barrel into his back.

"Hey now, where do you think you're going?"

Whether it was due to the rain, Nick's preoccupation with following the thugs, or sheer sloppiness, he hadn't heard the person approach him. He felt the barrel press against his back as the woman spoke.

She had asked a question and not just killed him outright which meant she was expecting some type of answer. His training kicked in, turning his head and beginning to hold his hands out as he spun suddenly, pushing the blaster away and stepping in and trapping her arm against his side. His free hand, he struck at her face with a palm, following up with a knee aimed at her stomach.

He didn't answer her question and instead slowly raised his hands while turning and Thalia took a small step backwards. However, she would not even get her foot down when he made his move. He spun, pinning her arm against his side and Thalia gasped, pulling away just in time to avoid the palm to the face. His knee though made contact, connecting with her gut as she dropped her blaster and collapsed to her knees trying to catch her breath. Smooth, Thalia...

She held a finger, "Hold on a minute..." she coughed and slowly got back up to her feet, now super cautious of the man who just took her down with a knee. "Wait..." she pushed to all fours and slow rose up a finger still raised as though she were signalling a parley. However, as soon as she got to her feet she shoved him, opening enough of distraction to stumble to her blaster, picking it back up before quickly tuning to aim it at the cop.

"Look, you're gonna lead me to Roz's hide away, goon."

He should have shot her, ended the threat. She had, after all, put a gun to his back. "Stay down." he quietly commanded, trying not to alert the whole kriffing sector. She refused and he drew his own blaster, clicking it to the stun setting. "I won't warn you again, stay down." She moved quickly, pushing him with one hand. The force that hit him was much harder than one someone her size could generate, especially in her position. He was picked up and thrown backward.

He landed five or so feet away, sliding on the slick ground but managing to keep his feet but rolling his ankle slightly. Pain rolled up his leg, he would be able to stand for now but it would surely complicate things. By the time he had recovered, she had regained control of her weapon. She pointed it at him, and he trained his weapon on her. She told him that he was going to take her to see the gangster he had come looking for.

Face far too serious to show the actual confusion he felt by her statement. "Alright.." he said, pausing "Listen.." he continued when his sentence was cut off by the sound of his blaster as the stun bolt shot towards her. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he had to regain control of the situation before the whole thing was blown.

He flew backwards, her shove having more power than she expected as the invisible energy field pulsed from her palm. Thalia did not give it further thought, odd things were happening more and more ever since the artifact shootout on Coruscant and she was starting to accept that there was something just simply wrong with her. Regardless the man was struggling to get up, noting he was placing more weight on one leg rather than the other. He pointed his weapon at her and Thalia stepped a couple steps forward and paused when he spoke, it sounded like he was ready to make an agreement, but she held her blaster steady.

Though there would not be any further discussion as he discharged his blaster, the stun bolt directly hitting Thalia in the torso with enough power to throw her back off her feet. She would fall into unconsciousness before she would hit the street and be out for several minutes.

However, the display did not go unnoticed as a Rodian atop of Roz's warehouse watched below and reached for his comm, alerting the others of possible trouble.

They had made too much noise, it would be too dangerous even if his ankle wasn't hurt. He was on the clock, he considered leaving the woman but if she was apart of Roz's gang she could tip her off and ruin the whole operation.

Gritting his teeth, he made his way over to the woman, kicking the blaster way from her before picking her up. He retreated away from the alley, staying out of the direct line of fire from the Rodian, who made no attempts to fire at them. He was likely some kid that just served as a lookout.

He disappeared in the alleyways before finally finding an abandoned shack just as the woman was starting to stir from unconsciousness. He ducked inside, letting her down on the floor before handcuffing her to a metal pipe running along a wall.

Nick lowered himself down in an old chair as she fully regained consciousness. His ankle throbbed from where he had twisted it. He met her eyes as she awoke, not bothering to hide the anger he felt. He pulled the badge out from underneath his shirt, letting it hang from the chain around his neck. "You really scuffed up." he said "The punishment for assaulting a Sector Ranger is pretty steep. " he continued. His blaster was strapped into its holster as he leaned back in his chair. "You got a name?" he asked?

Her body felt cold and tingly, like when one's arm falling numb when they sleep on it all night, except for Thalia, it felt like that through her whole body. She felt herself moving, her mind hazy and felt suddenly very confused, but did not have the ability to protest in where this person was taking her. Her mind though did quickly remind her about the moments before getting shot and how lucky she was it was not a blaster bolt and just a stun bolt. This guy was probably a cop, or a slaver, both seemed undesirable, but if it were anyone else, it probably would have been a lethal shot and she would still be laying in a street.

He dropped her to the ground and cuffed her hand to a rail in where ever he had taken her. However, it was same guy who shot her and he took a comfortable seat on a chair that she was certain someone probably pissed on many times before he claimed it with his presence. Thalia just watched him, trying to gauge who he was and what was going to come next as he took out his badge and she let out a sigh of relief, glad he was not a slaver, but it still was not good as he explained the consequences of what could come. Thalia put on her tough girl face and rolled her eyes. He asked for her name and Thalia tried to adjust her arm into a more comfortable position., though it didn't help being in rain-soaked clothing just made everything uncomfortable.

"Depends...do you have a name?" she quirked an eyebrow, "You know, so I can remember the guy who likes wet girls with their hands cuffed." she gave him a coy smile.

He let out an obviously agitated sigh. He should leave her here, call in a team to come to pick her up, he had better things to do than mess around this street punk. It was not the first time someone had tried to flirt with him to get out of going to jail, though this had been the first time someone had tried to rob him and then flirt with him to get out of going to jail.

"Look," he said meeting her eyes. "I really don't have time for this," he said honestly. "What do you know Roz Talruga?" he said placing the blaster down on the table beside him. "You tell me what you know and we will see about forgetting this whole ordeal." he finished.

As big a deal as Roz supposedly was in this area, this street urchin should have some information. In truth, letting her go would save him a whole mess of paperwork. He was already going to have a small mountain of it if he managed to bag Roz.

"Or I can take you down to the station and we can find out what other charges you no doubt already have. Its up to you," he said leaning back in the chair.

She kept her coy smile for a few moments until she realized his scowl was not disappearing and she thought in some way, he looked angrier. Thalia glanced away, the moment turning awkward, she probably was certainly not the first who flirted with him to see if he was dense enough to fall for it. However, her mind started turning, trying to figure out a way to exit from this place and to get away from him. Being arrested or going to jail sounded very much like the slavery she had been freed from only years earlier. He moved onward though, asking her what she knew about Roz and an eyebrow quirked.

Waiting for him to finish, she gave him a shrug, "Not much, I heard through a grapevine she had just acquired something that many thought she swindled the others for the prize. I'm sure I am not the only one trying to get a one up on Roz, there were a lot of unhappy buyers." explained Thalia, "I thought you were one of her own, I was hoping for a quick in and out but-" Thalia paused, her core twisted with a familiar warning. She glanced away from Nick as though she were listening more intently, but the Sector Ranger wouldn't hear anything. Thalia started to pull on the cuff.

"We should leave, c'mon, unlock me." she told him pointing to the cuff, an urgency to her tone.

He listened to her story. Criminals weren't always known for being the brightest but all but admitting additional crimes and that she had really no useful information about caused his head to explode. There weren't enough pain meds on the planet to take care of the headache he had coming on.

"Well as heartwarming as that admission to planning out a robbery and likely murder is, I think its best just to..." he was cut off by her struggling against her restraints. He sighed, "And here comes the begging." he thought to himself, rolling his eyes. She seemed better than that, but a street rat was a street rat.

He reached for his radio to call from extraction, but just as he was about to press the button to open up the line, the door exploded open as a hulking creature stepped through the door. Blue skin riddled with tattoos, the thug roared as he lunged for the Sector Ranger. Nick wasn't usually slow, but his busted ankle wasn't doing him any favors. The thug caught ahold of him and hurled him across the room, the wall cracking as he slammed against it.

His demeanor and tone told her everything she needed to know and how this was going to end. Her eyes narrowed, the feeling in her core grew stronger, urging her to leave, but her annoyance and anger was keeping her teetering from lashing out. However, what she heard next made the girl livid; the words were almost dreamlike, she felt as though she could pull his thoughts into her own. Though she was unable to determine if she really heard it or how she knew, the phrase echoed:

And here comes the begging.

Thalia's eyes narrowed, "What did you say?" she hissed as he went to pull out his comm and the feeling return, one that spoke of protection, to give herself to it and she would be safe. A chill ran down her spine, giving the girl a shiver. However, that was when the chaos literally exploded the door, blue and covered in markings. It went for the sector ranger first and Thalia immediately pulled on the cuffs, the voice returned with its offer and Thalia breathed inward, uncertain of how it happened, the cuff unlocked and her hand was free, she was free...mostly.

The creature turned to her and the girl dived for the sector ranger's blaster that lied on the floor next to the overturned table. It crashed into the wall where she was cuffed, cracking the duracreate as it turned to see who was still moving. Thalia had the blaster aimed and fired several consecutive shots, which all were stun bolts as the setting was still set on non lethal. The thug was strong and large, but not quick enough to avoid the shots, falling to the ground unconscious.

Thalia looked at the blaster and holstered it and then at the Sector Ranger, anger shown in her eyes as she still had to deal with him. She tilted her head, or she did not and could leave him here. There was certainly a cold that flowed with these thoughts and her fingers slowly curled into fists.

He slumped to the floor, dazed in the few seconds the fight laster. His mind didn't register what was actually happening until it was all over. He groaned, eyes drifting in and out of focus as the room swam.

Knowing he had to move, but not able to actually piece together why he forced himself to a shaky standing position. That's when he noticed the woman with his blaster. He held his hands out to the side, palms facing towards her. He would have lunged for her but his injuries pretty much guaranteed he would be too slow. She had holstered the weapon for now, which was a good sign.

He glanced down at the giant thug on the ground, chest rising and falling slowly, confirming that she hadn't switched it off of the stun setting before shooting the goon. It wouldn't keep the behemoth down for long.

"Guess you have a choice to make," he said as he met her eyes. He wasn't about to cower or beg for his life. He would just have to trust that his fellow rangers would hunt this scum to the edge of the Galaxy and beyond if she killed him, just like he would have for them.

She stood there quietly watching him lie pathetically with his palms reaching outward from his sides, however, her mind was loud with the options she was weighing on what to do next. He spoke, reminding her of the choice she had to make and Thalia nodded. They both had a mark on them now from Roz and they would keep coming, and she was certain the one that laid on the floor was the least of their concerns as to what else she had for them. Thalia walked slowly up to the Ranger and held out her hand to help him up, he would still think she was scum, but he may have some more info on how to get to Roz before Roz got to them.

"I-" she paused trying to think how to explain the feeling she had, but she was uncertain if he'd believe her, "Look, when I say we have to leave, will you listen?" she shook her head and the feeling returned. Thalia sighed, her head was still aching from the stun shot earlier.

"Like now, c'mon, they'll just keep coming, unless of course you want to lie here all pathetic like."

He expected his life to end there in that small shack. Everyone died, and more Rangers died in places like this than didn't, at least he would be in good company.

The blaster shot never came as he held her stare. She instead moved to him and offered a hand up. He tried to stand up on his own before letting out an annoyed puff of air. He hated needing help for anything, especially from someone like the woman in front of him. He took the hand and let himself be pulled upwards.

He listened as she spoke, seemingly distracted by something. Maybe she was high, it wouldn't surprise him a bit. Though the look she wore spoke more to being lost in thought than lost in a haze. He grimaced, thinking over his options. Which didn't take long becuase he didn't have many. They needed to get out of here before sleeping beauty woke up, and preferably whoever else was on their way.

"Let's go." he said reluctantly as they moved towards the door. "You know somewhere we could lay low and regroup?" he asked. If she wanted to kill him, she would have already. That had bought her some trust. Maybe she could help lead him to Roz, regardless they would need to act quickly if he wanted to capture her before she slipped through his fingers.

He took her hand but struggled to stand, she could hear the hesitation in his voice as he stated they should get going. He began to move to the door, but Thalia guided him away as he asked if there was someplace for them to regroup. "You ask like I know this city." she raised an eyebrow, however, before could give any sort of protest, "Yeah, I know a place." she added as they would snake through some rooms before exiting out the other end of the building. The last thing she wanted was for them to waltz out the front into the hands of Roz's goons who were probably waiting for them.

The rain was still coming down and Thalia groaned as she tried to figure out where he had taken her in the first place. She guided them through back alleys, the streets were mainly empty from the poor weather not giving them much cover, but Thalia knew where they could go, "This place is owned by some rivals, just don't tell them you're a cop, got it?" she gave him a warning look while tucking his badge back behind his shirt. Figuring this cop was a no-nonsense guy, this place was probably already driving his nerves up again as flashing holos of busty women dancing outlined the walls of place. She lead to around the back where they were able to enter through a back door.

"AH! Thalia, baby, back already? But not empty handed!" the cathar bouncer laughed, letting her inside and with the Ranger.

"Not done yet, Tan." she said leading Nick inside, guiding him to the storage area away from the eyes of patrons who may enter the club.

They exited out into the cold rain, snapping him out the haze that still surrounded him. His scowl deepened as she first said she didn't know where to go, then immediately backtracked. "Well, let's get on with it then," he said in a low tone as they disappeared into the slums.

She turned, warning him not to reveal himself as a cop as she tucked his badge away. It made sense that she would lead him to some lowlife crime den. "Yeah. I got it." he snapped back before they approached the bouncer. Nick remained somewhat tense even as the large bouncer laughed. Nick was prepared to fight, even if he didn't have a blaster. He met his eyes as they scanned one another before being ushered inside.

This place was just as scummy on the inside as it appeared from the outside, but Nick kept his mouth shut as they moved through the room. They moved to what appeared to be a storage room just off of the main room. It wasn't small but once two had entered it felt cramped. As the door shut, a light flickered in and out of existence, casting the room into shadows. "Nice place you got here." he said only somewhat sarcastically as he lowered himself down onto a crate, his ankle throbbing dully in the back of his mind.

"Mind if I get that blaster back?" he asked holding out a hand towards her.

He made a sarcastic remark about the room and Thalia responded with a quip of her own.

"Sorry, the Four Seasons were booked up tonight." she said flatly and pressed her palms into her forehead as her head still throbbed from the headache she had. She walked to the far end of the storage room, almost tripping over the boxes that piled on the floor as she dug for something buried and probably never used since the place opened. Thalia stood up when she heard Nick ask for his blaster back, his palm extended. She hugged the metal box close to her, eyeing him as her free hand hovered on the blaster on her hip. Her mind debated, clearly not trusting him entirely with a blaster and she approached him cautiously, but did not give him his blaster.

She dug through the box, which had so much rust on the surface it no longer read as a first aid box. The room silent minus Thalia's digging and the vibrations of the music in the bar outside the door. Thalia pulled out a roll of gauze to wrap around his ankle and handed it to him, "Here, this would help until you can get to an infirmary." the hinges on the metal box squeaked as she closed the lid, placing the box randomly on the shelf and then unholstered his blaster.

She looked at it for a while before she handed it back to the Ranger, ready to kick herself for getting shot by him again.

"So, why are you after Roz?" she asked him.

He would have preferred some place a bit more quiet, his body starting to feel fatigued from the day's misadventures.

He let a chuckle slip through at her comment. "I guess I have stayed in worse." He commented, leaning back against the wall. He didn't expect to get the blaster back but he accepted the bandage with a nod.

He was pretty surprised when she handed the blaster back to him. He took it from her slowly and then placed back in his holster. "Thanks." He said a bit awkwardly. The blaster was pretty average, maybe even a bit of the cheap side but it had a lot of sentimental value.

He pulled his injured leg up towards him, wincing at the pain as he did so. "It's my job to hunt monsters like her." He said as he clumsily started to wrap his ankle. It was no easy task to get his boot but he struggled through it. "She has been tied to a string of kidnappings recently and she is only getting bolder." He said. He made no attempt to hide the contempt in his voice.

"What does she have that's so important to you?" He asked as he wrapped the bandage around his ankle again.

Thalia took a couple slow steps backwards, letting the shelves stop her as she tried to better read to what the Ranger was up to next. When he did nothing and only thanked her, she felt surprised but not necessarily relieved. She leaned against the shelves, still stiff from her own nerves in his presence, but he chose to answer her question about Roz. Thalia listened, his explanation was simple, to the point, but could hear the contempt in his tone, much like how he spoke to her earlier. She still wondered if he considered her the same way and the little voice in her head answer with a whisper of Yes...

He asked her what was her deal with Roz, but she was still lost in her own thoughts as she watched him wrap his ankle, which was like watching a puppy get wrapped up in a roll of paper and calling it a day. She noted he would never survive in the mines, injuries were common, ones that made your work less efficient was a death sentence. Even as much of a rolled ankle like his own was costly and knowing there were tricks to playing it off as nothing, she wouldn't get a chance as the door opened.

The cather bouncer from earlier with one other patron stood staring rather agitated.

"Hey Tan..." she paused looking between the two, "What's going on?" she asked knowing very well what could possibly be going on.

"He's a cop, Thalia, more importantly one that Roz's gang is looking for." explained Tan and Thalia opened her mouth to object, "And she's looking for you also, we don't need that here tonight, so either you two can walk out without any problems or we can drag you out."

"Not even some convincing?" she asked pulling out credits.

"Not even some convincing, baby." he said. Thalia glanced at Nick and then back at the bouncer with an annoyed sigh. She held out a palm to help up Nick.

"Fine, we're going."
