DESCRIPTION​

The MSE series is a model of small maintenance droid once manufactured by the Rebaxan Columni corporation. Originally designed to emulate the behavior of a common household pet on the Chadra-Fan home-world, the MSE was manufactured in the billions, but did not sell. As it turned out, the behavior of MSE droids reminded many species of common vermin, and few bought it. Rebaxan Columni was near bankruptcy before they managed to sell their titanic back-stock of MSEs to the Imperial Navy, who found a use for them aboard their giant capital ships.

MSE-series droids are simplistic machines, consisting of little more than a plastoid box atop a set of wheels. Just 0.25 meters tall, they are almost the perfect height to be underfoot for most species. MSEs, being maintenance droids, are capable of performing small repairs on various types of machinery, and are equipped with a retractable manipulator arm and a fusioncutter for performing spot welds. In addition to this, MSEs can be programmed as small couriers and guide droids, carrying important messages and leading personnel through the maze-like corridors of star destroyers to their destination. MSE droids are equipped with a sonic floor cleaner, which they use to clean and polish the floor beneath them as they move.

MSE droids were used aboard Imperial warships for several decades, but after the Empire's fall, many were sold as surplus by the New Republic, which tended to prefer more capable models. Over a century later, MSEs can still be found in many parts of the Galaxy due to their shear numbers. Though not the most useful or striking droids ever designed, they do get the job done.
