DESCRIPTION
The LT-12 is a combination salvage and tug ship designed to serve as an easy-to-fly, general use scrap hauling vessel for the thousands of shipbreaking operations that have cropped up across the war ravaged post-Clone Wars galaxy. The ship is far from pretty, being designed to quite literally pluck through debris fields and locate valuable junk. The two forward facing cargo arms are strong enough to tear panels from most wrecks and are equipped with cutting torches to help get valuable scrap free. Twin exterior searchlights can help with navigating wreckage, while the forward-facing cargo airlock can allow the cargo arms to pass materials directly into the ship, or allow someone inside the vessel to exit for a more personal touch on a specific salvage item. However, the main salvage tools of the ship are a bank of eight BSW-97 salvage drones, included in the package, that are designed to perform more precise actions or move in more confined spaces. These drones are run either automatically or manually from a computer bank inside the ship, and are not independent, thinking droids. This means that have no sense of self preservation and are only capable to following simple commands, such as locating items made of certain common materials or cutting away sections of ship. Detail work has to be done by droids or living crew members.Apart from its salvaging characteristics, the ship handles as well as any civilian-class light freighter, with fore and aft facing turrets for some defense against pirates and silicon-based threats like mynocks. The ship works best on a crew of three, a pilot, navigator, and salvage clamp technician, but can run on a smaller crew with only a modest drop in overall efficiency. The ship does have some capacity for extra passengers, but between its low ration storage space and slower hyperdrive, the ship is not designed to hold a large number of people for any length of time. Overall, in a galaxy still reeling from war, an LT-12 is a solid investment for the prospective salvager, junker, or scrapper.
LEGALITY
Legal, although depending on what you are salvaging and where you may need special permits or licenses.INTENT
Between Fallen Order and the apparent hype for salvagers this TL, I figured we might need a good workhorse salvage ship.
