DESCRIPTION
The GV-100 is a groundcar produced by HarvoTech, a firm better known for its heavy agricultural equipment than its passenger vehicles. Groundcars like the GV-100 are similar to landspeeders, however they are a much older, less sophisticated mode of transport, using wheels rather than repulsorlifts to convey themselves over terrain. As a result, groundcars are slower, less comfortable and in general less reliable than landspeeders. Groundcar wheels put them in direct contact with the ground, meaning that they generate more friction, and that travel on anything but flat, level terrain creates a comparatively bumpy ride; they are best used on paved or at least graded roads. Certain types of terrain are impassable for groundcars. Finally, due to their many moving parts, groundcars are more prone to mechanical wear and tear than repulsorcraft, meaning that they are apt to break down more often.

The GV-100 is more or less typical of groundcars. Capable of seating 4, including 1 driver and 3 passengers, it can carry a respectable 180 kilograms of cargo, and can attain speeds of up to 160 kph on good roads. It is modestly appointed, with climate control, computerized navigation, a holographic entertainment system and an integrated comlink. It is equipped with 5 road-illuminating spotlights for night and inclement weather driving. Ride comfort is harsh on anything but paved roads, although the GV-100 was designed with heavy-duty suspension and respectable ground clearance, so it can cross moderately rough terrain if necessary.

Groundcars like the GV-100 are popular on some more developed worlds where decent road networks exist. They have also found a niche in parts of the Outer Rim, and in general on worlds where local environmental conditions or other factors have made repulsorcraft restricted or nonfunctional.

LEGALITY
Legal. GV-100 groundcars are civilian models, and are unrestricted on most worlds.

INTENT
To create a standard four-seat groundcar.
