DESCRIPTION​

The FB-997 pursuit speeder is an armed airspeeder manufactured by HarvoTech, a corporation better known for its range of heavy agricultural equipment. Intended for in-atmosphere interception of other airspeeders and swoops, with a secondary role of aerial riot suppression or light bombing, it was developed with the law enforcement market in mind, although some military customers have found it useful as a light attack ship.

The FB-997 falls roughly into the same performance range as a swoop bike, but is larger, more stable, more comfortable over long distances, can carry slightly more cargo on average and is armed. The type is 7.5 meters in length, can reach a top speed of 675 kph and has a flight ceiling of 1 kilometer. Its open cockpit seats 1 pilot, and it is equipped with a forward-firing medium blaster cannon. The type also possesses a chute for dropping grenades from an internal magazine; in police service this is typically used for things like flash, gas or stun grenades to subdue criminals or disperse crowds, but military units may use it to deploy concussion grenades or thermal detonators for harassment bombing.

FB-997s are used by both police and military customers on worlds across the Galaxy. Though no substitute for a proper snubfighter, they can get the job done at low altitudes. They also make excellent crowd suppression or light bombing platforms.
