Early Life

Ember was born on Coruscant in the year 103 ABY. She was given the best education, and the best life. The only problem was Ember's parents had her entire life planned out. Ember grew restless under the rigid structure of her life, and eventually, ran away from home. Ember knew she would never return to her parents. Determined to never rely on her family again, she shed her old name and took her real name, Ember Blaze.

On Her Own

Twenty years old and alone in the galaxy, Ember had the clothes on her back and a few hundred credits in her pocket. Over the next two weeks, Ember divided her time between studying in her room and getting drunk at the cantinas. She learned practical skills, starting with basic slicing and pickpocketing and on to necessary skills, such as how to use weapons like knives and blasters. On her own, Ember knew that she was finally free to live her life the way she chose. She started small, slicing into low-security containers, pickpocketing from the wealthy, and occasionally taking what she needed by force.

It was a few years before ember started drawing the unwelcome attention of the local authorities and the Coruscant gangs. After several close calls, Ember knew that it was only a matter of time before she was caught and likely killed. The day finally came when she got caught outside a bakery. The security officer that caught her was young, not much older than she was. There was only one way out of the alley, through the security officer. Ember shot the officer with no warning. Coruscant was no longer safe for her, Ember packed her few possessions and ran. Ember planned for this day, storing supplies in a Quad-5. She left Coruscant and was on her way out of the core only a few hours after killing the security officer.

Ember wandered the galaxy for weeks. Ember had never killed an innocent person before. The guilt over what she had done was becoming too much for her to handle. Each day she would ask herself "How could you? How could you be so selfish and so casually take a life? And for what? The life of a fugitive and criminal?" After drinking every ounce of alcohol, she had stored away, it was time to go get more.

Ember picked up a distress signal later that day. While Ember had picked up these signals before, she was never one to help those in need. But this signal was different, she could hear the voice of the security officer she killed. He was pleading for his life, begging for someone to save him. Ember knew that the security officer couldn't be out here, couldn't be alive, but she still heard him. She knew that she needed to go to the signal and find him. When she followed the signal, Ember found a small outpost built into an asteroid that had been torn apart.

Ember landed her ship a few dozen feet away from the outpost, unsure if she could help, but determined to find the officer. She put her spacesuit on and made her way out of her ship and into the outpost. Once inside, Ember searched everywhere she could within the outpost, and found no one. The damage to the outpost was clear, but there were no bodies, no blood, nothing to suggest there was a fight. Finally finding the communication room, Ember was confused by the distress signal as it was nothing more than an automated recording, not the officer. Ember spent hours at the console, working her way through every file she could. She never found any trace of the security officer.

Distraught, Ember decided it was best to leave the outpost and get some alcohol back into her system. Ember entered the hallway containing the door she entered. Standing in front of the door was the security officer, with his hand raised, palm facing her as if he was telling her to stop. Ember took a few steps towards the man, unable to speak. The door behind the man exploded outward, Ember was rushed out of the hallway with the escaping air, the security officer was nowhere to be found. The alarms in her suit chirped in her ears, though she could barely hear it. She would be dead now if the automated system hadn't closed the external vents. There was nothing within her reach, nothing that she could use to stop her fall. As she rushed past the door, she saw a cable floating in space, still attached to the outpost. She reached for the cable, struggling in vain to grab onto it despite it being so far out of her reach. Yet, the cable was in her hands within moments, and she grabbed onto, holding it as close to her as she could until the last of the air rushed past her.

Ember made her way along the cable and back onto the outpost. Unable to understand the events of the day, Ember went back to her ship and got clear of the doomed outpost. She knew that when she reached for the cable, she had no chance of catching it. And yet, she did. The only logical conclusion she could make was that somehow, the cable was pulled to her. She had heard of people moving things without touching them before, but only in myths and legends. Ember needed answers, and she was going to find them. She started her search for the Jedi Order, and after a few months of searching, found the name of a planet where she might find them, Ajan Kloss.

Joining the Order

When Ember landed on Ajan Kloss, she met her first Jedi. The myth she had been tracking down was real, and right in front of her. The Jedi introduced themselves as Jedi Master Sabine Das. Ember told Sabine everything. Sabine explained that Ember likely used the force to pull the cable towards her, and though they were unable to explain why Ember had the vision of the officer. As Sabine explained, Ember is force sensitive. Sabine told Ember about the Jedi Order, and that force sensitives like herself can come here to be trained. Hopeful of a new life, a new start away from the stain of her previous one, Ember was eager to join and begin her training.

However, Sabine was very hesitant. Ember had killed in the past, and Sabine feared Ember may fall to the dark side. To make sure Ember's motivations for joining were pure, Sabine gave Ember a choice: Ember would have to surrender all her possessions, and one day she must return to Coruscant to atone for murdering the officer, or she would be taught how to hide her force sensitivity and be free leave Ajan Kloss. For Ember, the choice was easy.

Ember began her training as a Jedi Padawan when she was twenty-five. Five long years after she was kicked out of her home, five years of being a criminal, looking out only for herself. Ember spent the next three years in training and meditation. Her training was at a slower pace than other Padawans, her instructors more diligent to impart the Jedi code onto her. Ember excelled at her training, and at the end of three years, Sabine and Ember left as Master and Padawan.

Part of the Team

Ember traveled to Anoat, to work with the Jedi Recovery Team there. Sabine had hoped that doing this healing work would help Ember cope with her past self. It had been years since the officer's death, yet Ember was still haunted by what she did, occasionally seeing the ghost of the man. Ember adapted to the work well, becoming able to use Force Healing and Plant Surge at the level of a Jedi Knight. Ember became so skilled with Plant Surge that she was able to grow nearly two dozen plants at once, though doing so left her nearly on the brink of passing out. The simple day to day of working to heal this toxic world help put Ember's mind at ease. She still knew that she would have to return to Coruscant and face her crimes, but she was finding peace within herself.

About a year into Ember's stay on Anoat, Ember came across a BD-510 starship that had crashed. After being convinced, and forbidding Ember to leave the planet, Sabine agreed to allow Ember to take the ship and restore it as her own. Over the next three years, Ember spent her free time rebuilding the damaged ship, attempting to make something that could be flown in space. The BD-510 suffered heavy damage when it crashed into the planet, and Ember ended up needing to do a complete overhaul of nearly every system. She was able to take the damaged ship and make it back into the ship it had once been.

After four years on Anoat, at thirty-two years old, Sabine advanced Ember to the rank of Jedi Knight. Sabine gave Ember her first, and likely last mission, to return to Coruscant and atone for what she did.

Knight of the Order

Ember left Anoat in her newly refurbished BD-510 and made her way to Coruscant. Back in the alley where she shot the security officer, Ember felt the familiar pull to run, to save herself and look out only for herself. As she had every time for the past seven years, Ember fought back the feelings and pushed forward, determined to make her way to the security office. She turned around to leave the alley and nearly ran right into a security officer.

The man reached for his blaster, and Ember instinctively grabbed her weapon, ready for the attack. Calming herself, Ember resolved to turn herself in for murdering the officer. It took a minute for Ember to recognize him, but when she did she broke into tears. The man she thought she had killed all those years ago was alive and well, standing right in front of her. Unsure of what to do next, the officer stood there, waiting for Ember to compose herself. Before she knew it, Master Sabine was in the alley with them.

They started to explain who Ember was now, her journey to get her, and what she had expected to happen. When the officer turned back to face Ember, she ran to him and embraced him. Sabine revealed to Ember that on the day they met, Sabine knew that this officer was not dead, only wounded. On the day of the shooting, Sabine was in the area on other business. They had arrived in the alley and were successful in healing the officer to prevent his death. The description of the one who shot him matched Ember nearly perfectly. Sabine had planned on telling Ember that day, but they could see how hurt and full of regret Ember was over the supposed death. Sabine made the choice to conceal the information, as they knew they could have Ember return here, and discover the truth herself. As they told Ember "You needed the guilt to make this journey and be where you are today." The three talked for some time after, Ember doing her best to let the officer know how sorrowful she was to have hurt him. The officer told Ember that he can't forgive her yet and may never be able to forgive her. Understanding this, Ember asked what her punishment would be for her crimes. The officer simply told her "You suffered enough" and asked that she go out in the galaxy and become a force for good and positive changes.

Ember plans to do just that.

Personality

Ember still falls into her childhood habits as an upper-class citizen. She tends to be quieter, preferring to watch and observe before making any comments. She is calculating and will focus her efforts on where she thinks they will do the most work. Even though she recently was relieved of the guilt she had carried with her for so long, Ember is very cautious to engage in any combat, fearing to hurt or kill an innocent person. In combat, Ember will often act defensively, waiting for her chance to strike after her opponents wear themselves out.

There are some things that need to be corrected before your profile can be approved.
- Had Ember been sucked into the vacuum of space, she would not have survived. Space = certain doom. Please fix this.
- The Jedi may have some concerns in regards to her past as a criminal, but the measures suggested in your profile are extreme. They would not have required her return to Coruscant to atone for her crimes (though she could have of her own free will). If she had decided not to join the Jedi or return to Coruscant, they would not have taught her how to cut herself off from the Force. They would have simply provided her some extra guidance and perhaps a bit of extra supervision.

Please tag me when these are fixed.

I made it more clear that Ember was wearing a spacesuit from the time she left the ship and at the time she went through the door. My intention was to have the ship parked aways from the outpost, then Ember would suit up and walk in vacuum to the outpost.

I see now that cutting Ember off would be extreme, and I've removed that part. I kept in the part where Sabine requires Ember to return to Coruscant to face her crimes. Under Knight of the Order, Sabine explains to how she knew the officer was alive and that Ember carrying the guilt was a necessary part of her journey.

Let me know if there is anything else I should change.
