Dash Demeric

Dash Demeric, often called Dash or Knight Demeric, was a male Human Jedi Knight and Jedi builder in The Force Eternal era.

Born on Iseno into relative wealth, Demeric initially attended military boarding school on the planet, until his Force Sensitivity became apparent in his late teens.

Joining the Jedi Order shortly thereafter, he trained on worlds including Ajan Kloss and Lothal for several years, under various Jedi Masters. He later developed a specific interest in the nature and design of Jedi temples and other Light Side constructions, setting out to repair and restore these across the galaxy.

The son of a prominent scholar and academic on his homeworld, Demeric adopted his father’s deeply conservative principles from an early age. A bold and strident young Jedi, he played a very active role in the restoration of the Order.

Biography

Demeric was born to an upper middle class family on the Inner Rim world of Iseno, on the Corellian Run. The eldest of three sons born to Balian Demeric, a conservative academic, and Aila Demeric, a cultural historian, he developed an enduring patriotism and love of his homeworld from an early age.

Attending an exclusive all boys boarding school, Demeric excelled in a range of subjects and relished the discipline and focus of a military-inspired environment. His view of the galaxy was shaped from the outset by the histories he was taught, in particular the destruction of the neighboring Hosnian system over a century before. Hosnian Prime and Iseno had built an economic and cultural partnership over centuries, one that was shattered overnight by the First Order’s genocide. By the time of Demeric’s birth, the Isenians were still struggling to get back on their feet.

Demeric originally planned to follow his father’s footsteps into politics and public life on Iseni. But when nascent Force powers began to manifest in the teenager, the family were quick to seek Dash’s admission to the Order, being longstanding supporters of the Jedi in an age of scepticism. The boy, for his part, embraced his destiny readily, persuaded of the enduring righteousness of the Order by his father, and equally prepared to put conviction above all else.

Bailan Demeric personally accompanied his son to Ajan Kloss shortly after his sixteenth birthday. Agile in mind and body, with a youthful drive to restore, conserve and protect, Dash was accepted into the Order quickly and spent several years thereafter training on the jungle temple world.

It was on a pilgrimage to the Jedi temple on Lothal that Demeric’s interest in buildings, or more accurately constructs, was first sparked. The timeless permanence of the megalithic temple captured his heart, leaving him convinced that to entrench the Light for all time, the Jedi needed to build anew. Not just temples and shrines, but wards and beacons of the same longevity to guard against the Dark.

So followed many months of specialist study and later pilgrimages to many of the Order’s ancient sites. Slowly but surely, Demeric set about unraveling the mysteries of temple design and construction, learning how to unify base materials and the Force itself to build new Light Side structures that would last through the ages.

Personality & Traits

Demeric was calm, confident and charismatic, with an openness and optimism common among the upper classes of the time. Smart and driven, he was typically upbeat and focused, always believing he could succeed in his endeavors and radiating a certain authority that bolstered others around him. Erudite and on occasion creative, he had a good mind for problem solving and design, but preferred to talk or think things through before rushing in.

Though many of the hard edges left from his boarding school days had been softened by his Jedi training, Demeric still fell prey to the arrogance and preconceptions of the wealthy from time to time. He always remained of the view that others should have been glad to have the Jedi around and struggled to accept any opposing view. Generally successful in his efforts, he also found failure or setbacks difficult to deal with, and his usual self-confidence often faltered in matters of the heart.

Skills, Abilities & Powers

A consummate Jedi, Demeric's known skills included:

  • Lightsaber Proficiency - trained from his late teens onwards, Demeric was a capable bladesman, his resolute, centered nature lending itself to a natural aptitude for Form III: Soresu. Prone to making a philosophical point at any opportunity, he particularly reveled in parring enemy attacks while drawing parallels between their flawed beliefs and the futility of their efforts in combat.

  • Force Powers - Demeric was a competent Force user, skilled in the use of the Force for many applications common to a Knight of his experience, including telekinesis, sense and enhancing his own physical capabilities. He was particularly known for channeling the Force into protective barriers, to keep allies and innocents from harm, and for his exploits in seeking to imbue Light Side structures with an enduring connection to the Force.

  • Jedi Architecture - having studied temple design and examined a number of prominent Jedi sites in depth, Demeric knew a considerable amount the nature and construction of Light Side constructs, developing plans to ultimately build his own. His work often took him to locations off the beaten track and led to him being aware of many hidden or ancient sites not widely known of in the modern galaxy.
