Jey's exploration of his own family heritage had made Astra become interested in her own. Although she doubted her parents had such heritage as Jey's had, she was still interested to explore where she had came from nonetheless. She had always wondered whether or not her parents knew about her and Alana's force sensitivity or maybe her own parents were force sensitive and knew it... she hoped to find out.

Since she had been involved in Jey's family affairs, she thought it would be nice to have him join her while she explored her own, that and she really wanted the company. The thought of spending a day alone in her old, now-abandoned home wasn't the most appealing and Alana didn't seem like a suitable companion for something that could be so sensitive as she believed her sister to be in quite a fragile mental state. But she also wanted an excuse to spend more time with Jey anyway.

For the last hour or so she had been sifting through boxes of things that had been left in cupboards for storage, most provided fond memories of the happy times she used to share with her family here but there were some more painful ones. So far she had found nothing of importance, only a few identification papers and some books in a language she couldn't identify.

At the sound of a knock on the door, a smile spread across her face and she got off the floor to open the door to Jey. "Hi! Come in." She stepped aside to let him in. "I'm afraid I can't offer much hospitality, there's no heating, electricity or running water." She told him before returning to her position on the floor. "Look, it's me and Alana!" She held up a photo of her and Alana in matching outfits as toddlers.

Jey was literally adrift in space when he got the transmission from Astra - she asked him to accompany her in finding out about her own family past. Which was fair, he had dragged her along on a few of his own exploits involving his family so he didn't mind helping her out. It was also a major plus that he'd be getting to spend time with the young Jedi Padawan as she was pretty much his only real friend in the galaxy right now, other than Scouty of course.

After docking his ship at some docking bay not far from Astra's location, he began his trek to the coordinates she had sent him. Jey had also decided to leave Scouty with the ship for today, the little guy deserved a break. While on his way to Astra's location, he began contemplating his relationship with her and how good of a person she was, and how much she helped him onto the path he was currently on. He was truly, really appreciative of it and regretted not being much of a benefit to her own life... maybe after today, that could change.

Finally at the coordinates she had sent, Jey realised he was in some kind of... long abandoned neighbourhood and the house, where Astra was supposed to be, was out of commission too. The Force-sensitive teen proceeded to knock on the door in a rhythmic beat for reasons unbeknown to him and before he could even begin elaborating on why in his head, the door swung open and revealed his blonde haired friend. She seemed excited, which was a nice change of pace.

Entering inside, despite being abandoned - the house seemed to be in decent condition, well besides the lack of heating, electricity and running water... according to Astra. He followed her into another room where he found her seated on the floor, surrounded by boxes, Astra held up a photo of Astra and Alana as toddlers which prompted a huge goofy smile from Jey "Holy... wow, you were both so cute. What happened?" he jested before sitting on the floor beside her, "Speaking of, why did you ask me to come here? Why not, Alana?" he questioned rather bluntly, without realising he may be sounding rude or ungrateful for being invited.

"Shut up." Astra told him though she was smiling. "Alana isn't in the best mindset as it is, this could prove to be too... painful for her." She replied. Although she couldn't truly predict her sister's response, she decided it would be better to be safe than sorry when it came to Alana and Jey could be more emotionally detached from the situation than her sister could. If anyone was going to be with her now, she wanted it to be Jey, he knew of the pain of loss and it made her feel less alone.

The photos were a nice memory but they weren't why she had come here. She knew she wasn't from a long line of Jedi but she hoped to find out more about her past and just what kind of family she had come from. It wasn't going to be as exciting as Jey's discoveries about his own family but she thought it would be interesting nonetheless.

From what she had seen so far it didn't look like she had any other living relatives but she expected as much. All she wanted to do was find out more about her parents since she only knew them for the first thirteen years of her life so they were never told much when they were younger as they were never interested enough to ask.

She became conscious of the fact she had been spending a lot of time searching without finding anything of interest so she turned to Jey with a sigh. "I don't know what I was expecting but I was hoping for something... I'm sorry for wasting your time." She gave him an apologetic look for dragging him all the way to Corellia with a barely valid reason.

"I get it." was all he had to say to her, she knew the rest. Other than their Force-sensitivity, Astra, Alana and Jey had another thing in common - they were orphans. He understood why this would have been too much for Alana, especially given her current state of mind... so, he was pleased he could at least take her place in being there for Astra... and share the load of being orphans.

As Astra continued rummaging through her family's memorabilia, Jey sat and watched her with a smile on his face as it was a nice change to see her relax and not be in 'Jedi mode', it was nice to see Astra just be Astra. This made him realise... this was the only time the two were in each other's company that didn't involve life-threatening circumstance, and it was pretty weird. He smiled to himself at the relaxed nature of all of this and how it was a welcome change of pace. Maybe now, he could evaluate more on his relationship with Astra.

Ever since he found out her and Alana were sisters, something... awakened in Jey. It wasn't the Force. It was something else, something he hadn't felt before, and something he couldn't describe. He felt a deeper happiness to be near her, but also crippling nervousness at the same time, as well as an overwhelming need to keep her safe at all costs... and when he wasn't with her, he felt hollow and empty inside. It was weird and slightly off-putting because he had never felt this way with his other friends before... what did it mean?

However, before he could go deeper into these thoughts - his attention was caught by Astra. She apologised to him for 'wasting' his time but he simply shook his head and laughed it off "Nah, don't worry about it. I needed a break from my dad's treasure hunt anyway... and this is like, the first time we've hung out that didn't involve thugs, smugglers or dark side manifestations." he joked lightheartedly before locking eyes with her "But... I'm interested, tell me more about your birth parents."

Astra was inexplicably nervous around Jey which was unsettling as she had never felt like it before. She had always felt comfortable in his presence but now she was on edge because she didn't want to waste his time or do anything which might annoy him, she was nervous that he would grow bored of her. She quickly came to realise why this was... She had been content with being friends before but now she had begun to see him as something more.

"Oh yeah, that treasure hunt is quite laborious." She shared a chuckle with him. When Jey asked for more information on her birth parents, her eyes lit up and she shuffled closer to Jey to show him a photo of their family around fifteen years ago. Although it was self-explanatory, she pointed out her parents and did as Jey asked. "This is my mother, she mostly stayed at home to look after us because we were a handful." She smiled at the memory before moving onto her father. "This is my father, I was never sure what he did, he was a businessman of somesort, he spent a lot of time offworld." She told Jey.

Astra rambled on for a few minutes about some fond memories before realising she had been talking for quite a while but when she looked at Jey, he didn't seem to mind so she smiled and shook her head. "You know Jey... it's really nice of you to come here for me." She said. Astra knew what she wanted to do but knew that doing so was a huge risk, however she thought it seemed possible that he would return her affections, after all he had just come all the way to Corellia for something as minor as this so when their gazes lingered, she slowly leaned her head in and kissed him and upon pulling away, searched his eyes to decide if she had made the right decision.

Jey's heart rate began to increase slightly when Astra scooted closer to him, which frustrated him slightly as he couldn't pinpoint what was happening to him. However, he was quickly distracted when he was shown a photo of the Calloway family from a few years ago - all he could do was stare at her features while she was too busy talking about her parents roles. When she mentioned that her father was offworld a lot, it reminded him of his own father... obviously he knew why, 'Jedi business'.

After Astra had finished reliving her memories in front of him, Jey's eyes quickly darted from her face toward the photos to avoid any awkwardness that he was staring at her the whole time she was talking. Jey smiled back at her and sensed a change within her, a positive change, but he wasn't sure why... maybe it had something to do with remembering her family?

"It's no big deal." he said nonchalantly as he waved away her thanks, "You would've done the same for me." he added. He noticed Astra beginning to lean in close to him... at first he was confused, then his heart beat even faster than it was before as he realised what was about to happen. Although, he didn't fight this feeling and he simply let it happen. When Astra's lips touched his, it felt as if a current of electricity rushed through his body and he finally knew what he had been feeling for Astra all these months. He liked her, she wasn't just some girl he wanted to bed... no this was... real.

Once she had pulled away, he stared into her eyes as she stared into his - for once he didn't have a cheesy one-liner, or a witty joke... Astra had successfully managed to shut him up. But before long, a sly smirk formed on his face before he leaned in this time and planted a longer, more passionate kiss on her.

Astra could sense the tension in the room but couldn't tell if it was all from her or from Jey too as her mind was elsewhere but as soon as their lips touched, all the tension and worries melted away and she couldn't feel more at peace. She was slightly worried when Jey said nothing and for a moment she wondered if she had misread the situation until he smirked and gave her a more passionate kiss which she returned, looping her arms around his neck as she did so.

In that moment she wondered how long both of them had been misreading signals from the other since it was clear by now that the affections were returned. Astra didn't think she could even pinpoint a moment when she started viewing Jey as more than a friend and yet now she couldn't imagine life without him.

Upon pulling away the second time, she laughed nervously, unsure what the custom was for these sorts of situations as she had never been in them before. Although she had been interested in a few people before, she had never acted on it until now and the excitement of it all was almost dizzying. She decided that now was as good a time as any to share her feelings since both were likely wondering just what was going on.

"I really like you, Jey..." She started. "I've never felt as close to someone who isn't my family and I can't explain it but I just feel different around you." She tried to explain but was unsure how to put her feelings into words and in fear of making the situation awkward, she stood up to walk to her parents' room. "I'm going to get another box." She told him.

Usually, after Jey had kissed someone - it would transition into something else... but not this time, Jey realised that he felt genuine affection for Astra and didn't want to ruin it. So when she pulled away, instead of kissing her again in an attempt to progress further, he decided to leave it there and simply grinned at her. Still sat on the floor, Jey leaned backward with his arms stretched out behind him and his legs crossed as he prepared to listen to what she had to say.

Astra said she liked him, which was nice to know that this wasn't some kind of spur of the moment kiss. However, when Jey tried to get a word in, to reciprocate, she stood up and stated that she would go and look for another box. But it wasn't a problem, he would just tell her when she got back - "Yeah, alright. I'll just wait here." he said. When she left, the Force-sensitive teen pulled his jet black hair back and sighed.

In the meantime, Jey would look through the stuff that Astra had left behind. He went through several old family photos and smiled each time he saw any that involved Astra - it was interesting to see pictures of her development from toddler to teenager, and then adult as he wondered what she was like before she became a Jedi. Was she always like how she was now? Same for Alana, she seemed much more happier back then which was a stark contrast to how she was now. He still had faith she would kick her addiction at some point though, like he did, for both her sake and Astra's.

Once she was in her parents' bedroom, Astra breathed a sigh of relief and began grinning to herself. She was happy that she had finally kissed Jey after wanting to for a while now and was even happier that he seemed to return her affections but then she started doubting if that was truly the case or whether he was just hoping for a fling but she quickly dismissed such thoughts, no, she knew that he cared about her and she cared about him.

Again, the nerves she had experienced before came back to her as now she was nervous about what may change for them now they had kissed and how Jey might have felt about her. It would certainly require a conversation but Astra wished to avoid it as much as possible, feeling rather awkward about the situation as they only knew each other as friends thus far so she pretended as if nothing had happened and carried on with the task she had set out to do.

She pulled the handle of the wardrobe but the door didn't budge so she put her foot against the other door and with great effort managed to pull the door open. In doing so, a panel at the back of the wardrobe became unwedged which revealed a decorated wooden box behind it. Astra frowned and reached into the wardrobe to grab the box before laying it on the floor and opening it. Inside was a lightsaber hilt so she instinctively called Jey and reached in to pick up the hilt but immediately gasped and dropped it, feeling a strong presence of the Dark side. Her eyes widened in a panic as she turned to Jey.

Jey was still sat down flipping through the family photos with a goofy grin on his face, until he heard Astra call out for him and sensed the distress that she gave off through the Force. He immediately shot up and made his way to Astra's parents' bedroom swiftly, arriving outside the bedroom door he swung it open and rushed inside. Face full of concern, the haste of his actions caused a black strand of hair to fall over his face and he panted slightly.

He saw the blonde Jedi standing in front of an open wardrobe, his gaze trailed down and he spotted a lightsaber hilt on the floor. However, he knew it wasn't Astra's seeing as the hilt that was on the floor had a completely different design than the Jedi's. He slowly approached her and saw the panic in her face - "Where did this lightsaber come from?" he asked as he knelt down to pick it up, "Do you have two--" he was abruptly cut off when his gloved palm touched the lightsaber. Upon touching it, he felt as if his hand was freezing... but it wasn't the lightsaber's material, it was the energy that radiated from it - the Dark side...

Feeling uncomfortable at the fact it made his hand cold through his glove, he quickly stood up and handed it back to Astra - "I've... never seen an object with so much... darkness behind it." he said, shivering slightly. Now he realised this is what must have had Astra shaken, although he wondered what this was doing in her parent's home.

Astra watched Jey with concern, waiting to see what his thoughts were about the lightsaber before hesitantly taking it back from him but upon touching it this time the sensation was more than feeling the mere presence of the Dark side. She froze in place as she experienced glimpses of the lightsaber in action, cutting down unarmed people, before focus shifted to the wielder of the lightsaber... her father.

Astra fell to her knees and opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. She had never been so shocked and heartbroken in all her life and now she would have to try and put into words what she had seen and felt to convey what had happened to a concerned Jey who she knew wouldn't let the matter go, not after the way she had just reacted.

"This was my father's." Were the only words she could utter in that moment. She didn't want to say what she was about to say because it would make it real but she knew Jey was looking at her expectantly although she didn't meet his gaze. "He killed innocent people with this." She said finally. "I saw it." She felt a sinking feeling deep within her as she felt like her whole reality had been altered.

That would be far from the end of it as there were still many questions that needed to be answered, such as how the lightsaber was acquired but most importantly - why. There was one more key piece of information she neglected to mention which could help them piece together the situation so she looked at Jey for the first time since he entered the room and told him. "The blade was red." She pressed the button to activate the saber and prove it.

As Astra took the lightsaber, confusion fell upon his face as she sort of stood there for a moment before eventually falling to her knees - worried, Jey knelt down on the floor to meet her and he placed his hand in hers "You okay?" he asked in a concerned tone. It took her a few moments before she would finally inform Jey, Astra revealed that the lightsaber was her father's... now he had a lot of questions "He's Force-sensitive? Why was the lightsaber tainted by the Dark side?" ran through his head, however it was all confirmed for him when Astra continued.

What she revealed next shocked him completely - the lightsaber was red, Jey watched the crimson glowing blade intently. Its deep and harsh hum echoing through the silent room. The teen could only imagine how Astra was feeling right now, as someone who was so dedicated to the Light and the Jedi Order, so sure and so certain that it was her destiny... and maybe it still was, but to know that you come from darkness - it must have been devastating for her.

Jey knew that her family history didn't define who she was, especially from his own personal experience... but the black haired youth knew that's not what she needed to hear right now. Without any words, Jey gently took the lightsaber from her hand and deactivated it, placing it on the floor next to him. He placed his gloved palms on both of her warm cheeks and looked into her blue eyes "You've got a lot of questions I bet, and this is probably a lot right now." he said reassuringly, he would then advice "But try not to spiral." before releasing his hands from her face and proceeded to pull her close into his arms, "Hey, this'll make for a fun investigation." he joked, hoping to lighten the mood.

At the touch of Jey's hand in her own, she pulled away, she didn't want comforting; she wanted answers. While the revelation had been a shocking one, it made sense, the amount of time her father spent away from the family on vague business trips all added up and she had never been suspicious of any foul play. It made her feel frustrated among many other emotions.

Astra didn't try and oppose Jey taking the saber from her and the initial numbness began to wear off. Although she would rather be alone, Astra appreciated Jey's attempts at reassuring her and didn't resist when he pulled her close, instead wrapping her arms around him in return. She hugged him close, trying not to cry, until his next comment quickly made her annoyed so she pulled away and pushed her hands against his chest to push him away. "This isn't funny, Jey!" She replied with a frown.

Maybe she had been wrong about Jey. If he couldn't take this seriously then maybe he wasn't as good a friend as she thought after all. She stood up, giving Jey a look of disgust before walking back to the living room to get some distance. It felt like her world was falling apart. To know that she was born out of the very thing she set out to destroy gave her very conflicted and confused feelings and yet... maybe if people knew then maybe they would expect her to follow in her father's footsteps as the apple never falls far from the tree.

Jey felt the rough sensation of Astra's hands pushing against his chest as she broke away from the hug. Jey outstretched his arms in complete surprise with a confused expression befalling his face "What? I was just trying to make you feel better!" Jey responded, still sounding surprised as he watched her head back into the living room. Annoyed at what he felt was an overreaction, Jey groaned and swiped the air in front of him and remained in the bedroom for a few moments, sighing, he proceeded to stand up and follow her into the living room.

Standing just outside the doorway, the teen rested one of his arm's on the door's hinges and his other one holding his belt. "Sorry for being a good friend and trying to make you feel better!" he sarcastically stated while flailing his arms in the air for dramatic effect. The black haired was annoyed and slightly offended that Astra rejected his attempts to make her feel better, he understood that this was a big life changing revelation for her and of course, she would be upset, but she didn't have to act like a damn nerfherder toward him.

If this were to escalate into a full blown argument, Jey was ready to straight up leave and not look back. If she couldn't appreciate what he was trying to do for her, she could handle her problems herself.

Astra ignored Jey but when he joined her back in the living room and spoke to her again she glared at him before speaking. "Do you really think it's an appropriate time for a joke?" She asked, incredulously, offering Jey the chance to see the error of his ways before she did anything drastic. However, she felt like she could guess what his answer would be, believing that he would defend himself by saying he was trying to lighten the mood.

Jey was not her priority right now; if he wanted to sulk about thinking he had done nothing wrong then so be it. If he couldn't be mature about a serious and upsetting situation then she didn't want him around, definitely not now, maybe not ever. Astra was beginning to feel like she had made a mistake with Jey, after all she had taken his issues seriously and now she didn't feel like the sentiment was being reciprocated. Being a 'good friend' he called it.

She was not annoyed enough to be malicious towards Jey but on the emotional high she was on, she was unsure how to respond to Jey without snapping at him so she responded in the only way she could see as appropriate which would diffuse the situation. "Get out." She told him, not listening to any excuses he might have, gaze and tone unwavering though there were tears in her eyes. Now he had only proven to her that she wanted to be alone.

Shock and sadness befell his face for a moment when he heard those words, before swiftly switching to a hard scowl. Jey stared at Astra with his fists clenched for what felt like forever to him, he then huffed loudly through his nose before turning his body around and exiting the door frame. Without any words, he left Astra's childhood home and slammed the door on the way out.

Anger filled his chest as he stormed his way back to the Kath Hound, served him right for letting himself get close to someone - they'd always let him down, or abandon him in the end. As the rage inside him continued to grow, his fast steps began to turn into a run as it was the only way he would feel stimulated, the only way to stop him from doing anything stupid.

As the Kath Hound's docking ramp lowered and he entered the ship. Scouty beeped at him, questioning how his time with Astra was - "Not now, Scouty." he responded coldly which prompted a sad beep from his droid companion. Jey immediately headed to his quarters and simply stood inside as the door closed behind him. Inhaling and exhaling through his nose a few times, Jey tried to remain calm - to not give into his answer but as the words 'Get out' echoed through his head, it all came rushing back and he began tearing apart, smashing and destroying everything in his quarters.

Fuelled by emotion, the hazel eyed teen didn't use the Force at all in his outburst and when he was finished, he pulled a few strands of loose jet black hair back and headed toward the cockpit. He fired up the engines and took off, he didn't know where he was going but he needed to get away from Corellia.
