The familiar buzz of the sonic shower harmonizing with the whirr of The Circus II's hyperdrive set Klara's teeth on edge. It was, however, a necessary annoyance if the woman wished to maintain any semblance of a daily hygiene regimen. By her reckoning, one standard month had passed since she had been afforded the luxury of a more traditional water-based shower. Coincidently, it had also been a month since she joined up with a ragtag team of disparate personalities in pursuit of a few credits and a way to escape her ever-present past on her home planet of Onderon.

Funny how that worked, wasn't it?

Switching off the sonic and trying in vain to shake off the muted vibrations that continued to run through her extremities, Klara reached for her clothes and found them on the hook right where she had left them. The refresher onboard The Circus II was more a coffin than a room, so no one could have conceivably taken them without her noticing but still she worried, especially given the presence of her questionable Rodian employer. Pulling on the white tank top and baggy gray spacer pants that had become something of a uniform for the woman while on the Mynock Class Freighter, she unlatched the door and stepped out into the empty corridor.

Instead of taking a left that would have led to her quarters, however, the freshened-up mechanic took a right and made her way to the cockpit. Unlike their previous job on Zakuul, the rest of the crew was sitting this one out; it was just her and that damned Rodian. Certainly, it wasn't like she couldn't leave her employer whenever she wanted to, but she had lost a bet on which it would be dishonorable to renege and, well, the money was too good to pass up.

"Might need to get the sonic tuned soon," she stated, slipping into the co-pilot's seat to the left of her employer, Kodee. "How far out are we?"

In front of her, the streaks of light that one quickly came to associate with hyperspace travel flew by at their usual clip. It was said, or so Klara had heard, that one could go mad looking into hyperspace for too long. Perhaps that explained the eccentricity of the Rodian to her right?

White lights flashed over a blue pool. The gentle thrum of the hyperdrive provided the perfect white noise in the background. Outside of this gentle hum the Circuss II was experiencing something it very rarely every got.........silence. Pulling back the blue pools that had made up Kodee's eyes traded their white lines of reflection for the various colors of the control panel. Mynock freighters where one of the most common and customizable freighters that existed in the galaxy. While this meant they weren't hard to pick up and fly if you where familiar, there were still differences to figure out. Blinking a couple times to keep all the buttons from blurring together Kodee took a drink from the thick golden liquid he had in a self made cup holder.

Presently the captain of the ship sat slightly slouched in the chair, a datapad open to varying schematics of the ship flickering through as if it was programmed on a certain rotation for when to switch off. There was no denying the Circus had been the superior ship, but this one would have to do for the time being unless something better came along....and Kodee so hoped something better would come along.

That however, was not something likely to occur on their current mission. His recent card game had afforded him his present company, and a small job like this seemed like the perfect opportunity to force her hand. The mechanic had left the cockpit some time after the start of their jump to "freshen up". As though truly freshening up could happen on a craft that was decorated in such drab and dirt. As for Kodee, he had moved in well enough and despite his care free demeanor when the jump had occurred he found himself instead down a wormhole of his own thoughts. His fingertips moved across the datapad and washed away the ships schematics, his brain only able to absorb so much information in one session. Instead a new image sprang into view.

The holopad showed 7 Rodians. All of varying ages and builds, their skin tones ranging from the yellow striations on Kodee's own green flesh, to blue splotches across a particularly dark Rodian. The only trait every one had in common was the brightness of the 14 sky blue eyes that looked out from the projection. the image displayed a younger Kodee, his arm wrapped around a much shorter and clearly younger Rodian girl. His voice came out carefully, the cadence switching between fast pitched words, and drawn out sentences. If one was really paying attention, it would sound like an apology. Though, unless the eavesdropper spoke Rodese it wouldn't sound much like anything.

As Klara entered the room and fell into her current position chair of co-pilot Kodee hastily shut off the datapad. "We need lots of things tuned up.......especially the ummmm....". He would pop his finger tips together for a moment, clearly searching for a word in basic. "Wall costumes............ummm decorum!" At finally finding the words he'd pop his thumb and middle finger creating an extra loud POP! Taken from his private revery, it was as if it had never happened.

At her second query, the Rodian's blue eyes would examine the data readouts. Sighing he would click a few more buttons. "Not much to longer." He would say as the data feed ran across not only his screen, but also the co-pilots. "Money keeper ain't it? How's slicing fer you, pretty good hacker we are takin." Kodee would ask falling into conversation of the mission. Indeed there mission had been sent requesting discretion, and a small party to deal with the cyber criminal. The details had remained fairly vague, most likely to protect the banker should his hacker be taking his messages, so most of the details where left hidden, just like the vastness of space behind the bars of hyperspace travel.

"Never visited Fondor.........". The Rodian would admit, his eyes once again reflecting the wall of hyperspace. "Did you leave any behind Klara darlin? When you choose this life." For once the Rodian looked more thoughtful. The insane hunter mask having slipped just a galactic standard meter.

Seven figures of indistinct form flickered out of existence with Klara's return to the cockpit leaving a frazzled Kodee in their wake. For the month that she'd known the Rodian, she'd never seen him quite this way. Sure, from time to time he might have appeared off-kilter, but not like this—he seemed off, vulnerable even. And then, just like that, he was back to normal as if donning a mask of some sort. Perhaps had she known the male better she might have sated her building curiosity by pressing the matter but she didn't, it wasn't her place.

Instead, as the Rodian struggled with his words, she busied herself with another inane systems check as had become her habit. Ships, unlike droids, were not yet an area of expertise for the woman. Sure, she knew more than the run of the mill spacer, but not nearly enough to confidently diagnose any and all problems that came up. Her remedy for such a deficiency was to spend her spare time poring over the ship schematics, not for potential upgrades like the ship's captain but for general baseline knowledge of the electrical, hyperdrive, and fuel systems. Thankfully, with a few flipped switches here and a few turned dials there, it seemed everything was normal, just as it had been before she stepped into the sonic.

"Yeah, a banker of some kind," she confirmed, her eyes scanning over the feed in front of her. "Though, we're clearly not dealing with the best hacker in the galaxy; they wouldn't be in money trouble if that were the case."

The job, as Klara understood it, was pretty straightforward: the client of a bank was unable or otherwise unwilling to pay back a loan, so they needed someone to collect for them. A few of the finer details were still a bit fuzzy but that was to be expected. In theory, the banker—or probably their representative on Fondor—would fill in the details of the jobs once they arrived. Truth be told, the mechanic had hoped for more details going in, but it seemed that a distinct lack of information was the gold standard for the jobs that Kodee accepted.

The Rodian's next question caught the human off guard and left her in silence for a few heartbeats. She had left something behind; it had been a life, a future. Worse yet, she didn't just 'leave it behind', she threw it away; dashed it to a thousand pieces where she hoped it would stay. As of yet, she lacked the will to look back and put it all back together. Maybe someday she would be ready, but it was not today nor any day in the near future.

"No," she looked away into the streaks of hyperspace. "Nothing important."

    This was a lie.

    "You?"

Listening to Klara it did make sense. An excellent hacker would have access to credits without the need to actually work, so if he was in debt, it stood to reason he wasn’t that good.....unless he just didn’t like paying. It was something to consider, but nothing to worry about at the time. With a few clicks he pulled up the meeting area in the screen. One of the thousands of shipyards that remained in orbit around the industrialized planet.

Standing Kodee would stretch himself. Presently he wore on of his short kimonos sans wig. “Jus a hacker? Don’t seem to tough. I’d expect a soft boy.” Kodee would say lazily as he walked over and removed his equipment from his locker. A countdown appearing showing how long they had until they reached the planets general vicinity. Removing his weaponry he would slowly and systematically take it apart and clean them before putting them back together. Now with a DH-7, and Chanti blasters for pistons, an A-10 long rifle, and his new love the Merr-Sonn 227 sniper rifle. “Hoping to let this one play. I think not though. We should be able to wrap this quick.” The rifle was longer than the A-10, a powerful scope along the top. Spending all that time in the mud and blood on Zakuul had proven to be more than worth it.

As he worked on his firearms Klara finally answered his question on if she left behind anything. Apparently not....the Rodian looked at his human companion, now the white streaks of hyperspace reflecting in her own eyes. This life wasn’t chosen by many without a reason, but maybe she was the exception, or just the rule hiding behind lies. Shrugging Kodee didn’t mind either, he lied all the time so it wasn’t right to judge another. “O yes....I left behind lots, but I find other things to occupy the space.” His voice was cheerful again, the melancholy completely exiting the room as though he’d open a vent chamber to the vacuum of space. Reflecting the faces of his current crew circulated in his minds eye, they weren’t family, not yet.....but they would do.

Re-attaching his scope and holding the rifle up and peering through it the proximity alarm would fire along with the sound of the hyperdrive slowing. They were here. Jumping up he’d leap into the captains chair testing its stability with his momentum. A couple flicks, and then pulling back a large silver lived, and what had been the bars of revery vanished, and in their place the sight of cold durasteel, and even colder space. The planet seems to have a purple tinge to it, pockmarked with black that upon a closer look where the numerous drydocks and space stations in orbit. “You still have coordinates for the banking station?” He’d ask looking towards Klara to handle her co-pilot duties. She’d proven herself slightly more adept than the actor had been.

A soft boy? Klara certainly hoped so. It would be nice to have an easy job after the debacle on Zakuul left them stranded on the swamp planet for more than a few days. Though, then again, Kodee had been optimistic about the Zakuul trip too, so perhaps it was not the best policy to put much faith in the Rodian's initial impressions of what might or might not be. Far better, the mechanic decided, to go in with no expectations; it was much easier to roll with the punches that way. After all, when working in her line of work, punches were bound to be aimed in her direction more often than not.

"Mmm," was the only response the human would provide in response to the mention of the Rodian's newest toy. Her mind was elsewhere as she expanded the map of Fondor with a flick of her wrist.

Weapons had never been the woman's strong suit nor did she suspect they ever would be. Blasters felt heavy in her hands and she struggled to hit even the largest of targets with any consistency. Sure, she could definitely see the importance of having a weapon in a galaxy where there was danger around every corner, especially in the outer rim. Such armaments just didn't agree with her, however; they felt wrong, clumsy even. Moreover, the thought of ever having to end a life with just a pull of the trigger disturbed the woman more than she cared to admit.

    She was no killer.

That said, the thought had occurred to her recently that she worked with killers. Or rather, she rationalized, people that killed. Did killing make one a killer per se? She didn't think so. To her, a killer was one who went out of their way to terminate the life of another and, as of yet, she had not seen any of her new companions commit such an act. Either way, she did not enjoy allowing such thoughts to occupy her mind for fear of concluding that she had, indeed, thrown her lot in with killers.

"That's good, I suppose," she replied idly to the man's comment regarding what he lost and subsequently gained. It wasn't that she was indifferent to the idea of finding something new to fill the void left in her, but rather that it made her uncomfortable. Far better to push such worries off far into the future.

The Circus II's hyperdrive calming whir soon shuddered off only to be replaced by the hum of the sublight drive kicking in as the beauty of hyperspace was replaced by the unsightly glow of Fondor. Indeed, the planet lived up to its reputation as one of the most industrialized planets in the galaxy. Even from their distant position, Klara could see massive plumes of white smoke pouring through the atmosphere creating false clouds. It was truly a sight to behold; a complete mastery of nature itself.

"Yeah, docking bay 5A35-2. It's attached to one of the larger foundries orbiting in the southern hemisphere," Klara said, punching a few coordinates into the navcomputer. "Sokaz Enterprises is the name, supposed to make half-decent ships."

The ship lurched forward as the autopilot took control. With the docking codes pre-programmed into the vessel, all the two bounty hunters had to do was sit back, wait, and hope that their client was expecting them. It was time to get to work once more.

Leaning back in the chair he watched Klara as she punched in the coordinates. In fact he wasn’t used to this level of help. Dwelo was nice enough, but he wasn’t the greatest co-pilot in the world, clearly the fish man had spent to much time thinking he was the lead man in his vids. His eyes discreetly double checking the commands, he’d allow himself a moment of relaxation.

Blue eyes looking outside the viewport, the station soon became visible, large gaudy letters, even by his taste, illuminated the blackness of space. Grabbing his drink he finished off the bottle, standing back up as the ships docking ring connected, the satisfying hiss of depressurization letting them know a split second before the computer voice confirmed that the dock was successful. The sound was slightly annoying as everything in the ship still gave alerts in Kubaz language, a setting he had not been able to fix as of yet.

How we be actin Klara Darlin? Any way you wanna play dis?” The Rodian would ask as he moved over and started to sort through his locker. Multiple outfits inside varying in audacity of style, his scout armor propped up further down. “I don’t think armor is way to go, not for a simple Meetin.......”. While one always had to be aware of the dangers of the galaxy in their line of work, constantly wondering around like hired guns was equally likely to get you shot.

Whatcha think.......purple and blue or blonde and red?” Kodee would say turning. In one hand he had a bowl cut purple wig and a blue bedazzled button down shirt. In his other his staple long blonde curly wig accompanied by a red sports coat. He would begin to get dressed in whichever Klara had picked, if she failed to pick then he would return to the locker looking for something else. “You want the lead for change Klara......or should I expectin to do the speaking?

"Yeah, armor would probably be inappropriate, same with weapons," Klara replied, peering out the viewport at the massive structure they'd moored to. "I doubt they'd take kindly to us mucking around like we were on some battlefield—it's just a meeting, nothing to worry about."

There was, of course, plenty to worry about. The client could double-cross them, the 'hacker' in question could be packing major heat or any other number of less than optimal contingencies that might very well arise. At this point, however, pessimism would not do either her or Kodee any good; they were well beyond the point of no return. All that remained, for the time being, was to continue the slow march further into whatever unknown awaited the pair.

"Go with red," she called out without bothering to turn around. Instead, her attention was on the ship's systems again as she doubled checked to make sure they were syncing properly with the station they'd just attached to. It wouldn't do anyone any good if they were burning fuel needlessly.

"And you can take the lead on this," she ceded, with a shrug and stood, pulling the jacket on the back of her seat on over her tank top. The Rodian had more experience in the field, so it would be foolishness for Klara to take lead. Indeed, she had not yet even met with one of the group's clients in person before; she wouldn't know what to say, how to act or, perhaps more importantly, how not to act. Far better, she believed, that she simply observe this time around so as to be better prepared for the next time when she might take the lead as Kodee suggested.

    "Shall we?"

Standing in the entrance of the cockpit, Klara waited for Kodee's go ahead. This was all still new to her and she wasn't quite certain how to proceed. Did one just waltz off onto the space station like they owned the place?

At the females command Kodee began to get dressed. As was his prerogative as captain and resident Captain, he dressed right there. Dropping the kimono and taking the time to fold it before draping himself in his desired garb. For his part he wore black slacks with shining red shoes. A white button up shirt with the bright red sports coat overtop. His blonde wig fell to his shoulders in frequent curls with his sensory antenna sticking up though the hair. For his final adornment he placed a black fedora on his head that had two holes cut out for his antenna. Inside his sport coat he placed his Chanti blaster its small size leaving it hidden unlike the rest of his armaments.

He found it best in these situations to walk out and pretend like you owned the whole place, and it was with that, perhaps unearned, strut he took to the landing bay doors, then to the ramp, and then forward into the station. The pair would make their way through the station, which was busting in its own rights. “Watch your purse Klara darlin, little kriffs everywhere....”. For his own part he’d wave off several urchins who undoubtedly where after what was in his pockets, though the joke was on them as Kodee was currently flat broke. If you brought no money you couldn’t spend it, so instead you could earn a free meal or better yet....drink.

You have the area of meeting?” He’d ask the human as she walked next to him assuming she could navigate the crowd. For Kodee’s own part he had a way of moving through a busy crowd and yet avoiding the bustle. “We are looking for a gold and blue B series protocol droid.....B7-J0.” As they moved through the crowds the buildings continued to shrink and grow. Industry began to be removed by the banking guilds, bounty offices, and even a couple small holo arcades. Feeling the temptation he did his best to keep his eyes forward rather than give in to any unnecessary gambling.....at least until they had contacted their employer.

Captain Kodee........Captain Kodee........Sir it is me B7-J0, human bank relations..........Captain Kodee!” The annoying voice of the protocol droid tried its best to overcome the crowd, however for Kodee’s part he completely missed the voice and continued making his way through the crowd. He thought they were supposed to meet at a little cafe.........or was it a bar?

    Little Kriffs?

Klara didn't need to be told twice; she had once been a 'little kriff' herself. As a kid, the Onderon streets had been her home away from home. When she wasn't working behind the desk at the family shop or tinkering in her room, she was out on the streets causing the type of trouble only an over-energetic child could. She met friends she thought she'd know for life on those streets and, though her group never put them into action, they planned scams and heists in elaborate games that straddled the world of imagination and reality. Those had been the days that she'd thought would never end, until they did.

Melancholy feelings aside, it was nice to be back in relative civilization, back in her element. Zakuul had fallen out of the mechanic's purview, but this? This, with bustling thoroughfares, dark alleys, and crowds, was where Klara felt most at home and it showed. She walked a little taller, breathed a little easier, and her smile came a little faster. It certainly wasn't Onderon, but it was something familiar nonetheless which went a long way in raising the human's flagging spirits.

"I think it was supposed to be in front of one of their branches—" the sound of a droid's scratchy vocabulator drew Klara's attention—it was calling out Kodee's name and seemed to match the description of their contact. "Kodee."

She reached out a hand to grab the Rodian's shoulder.

"Keep your head on straight, you walked right by it."

Wheeling around on the droid in question, Klara came to a stop allowing the crowd to bend around them like water about a stone. It did appear the right droid. The color-matched and the logo plastered across the droid's chassis matched that of the banking company they had accepted the initial contract from.

"Oh thank you, ma'am, thank you," the droid rasped, its eyes blinking gleefully. "Captain Kodee, it is a pleasure. I am B7-J0, my master has instructed me to escort you and your companion to her."

The droid turned on a dime and began walking towards the Senka Banking Corp building.

"Please follow me," it chirped, stopping every ten or so meters to make sure that its charges were following.

With nothing to do other than follow the droid, Klara followed along without a word and, though she wanted to confer with Kodee about the next step, it did not seem that they would get the chance—she had only expected to meet a droid, not the actual client. Nonetheless, the mechanic was intrigued by the rundown branch office they were being led to, it had certainly seen better times. In fact, she even cast a sidelong glance at the Rodian to her right, for some reassurance that they were still doing the right thing.

Still looking around he felt the mechanics surprisingly strong hand grab his shoulder and jerk him from his focus. As soon as she did what had been nothing but white noise of a crowd broke, and multiple voices could be distinguished. At the same time however the recognizable sound of a protocol droids voice finally penetrated his ears. Turning with a flourish the droid was already close enough to introduce itself. Gesturing and accepting the title of captain he would let the rust bucket speak out.

As the droid began to walk away Kodee would follow as if it was a totally normal thing to do. As they walked closer to the storefront Kodee would look sidewise at Klara, and see the concern etched in her face as only a hunter could. When their eyes met Kodee gave her a knowing wink and as much of a smile as he could manage. At this point however, the human should have a general understanding of Rodian facial expressions.

Don’t worry Klara darling.....I’m certain it looks better in the inside.” He would say cheerfully, giving the droid in front of them a full 10 meter birth. Even his confidence however was a little shaken. The original contact had made him feel like this was one of the wealthier banking offices, but up-close he wondered if he’d been fooled. Something he reflected, that never occurred..........nope never occurred. The droid paused and held open a door for them, and the duo entered the room.

The inside of the rundown front office initially matched the outside. The seats inside where ripped, the plants in the corner dead, and a general uncleanliness about the place. The customers waiting looked poor, people who barely could scrape together a credit, while the workers clearly pressed them for said credit. Overall, it seemed a horrible place the air screaming of financial oppression. Kodee wasn’t a bad Rodian, and the sight in those eyes gave him no pleasure, though he had learned a long time ago you can’t help every wretch in the galaxy. Standing in the lobby the droid would push past them leading them through another set of doors, down a slightly cleaner hallway, and then held a final door to an office. “Just in here Captain Kodee thank you sir.

Stepping through, what was wrong with the galaxy quickly became obvious. Rodian culture praised the hunter, but this sort of predator still made Kodee a little sick. The office was the definition of opulence. Fine qashmel carpet, the desk made from a wood substance that surely was not native, even the lights dazzlers with crystal inlay. The Muun that sat behind the desk was dressed in a fine silk like material, the robes draped across his body. When he stood his height would be just over two and a half meters, though his body was painfully thin. On his elongated fingers several rings caught the light sending off prisms of color as they slid up and down unable to lock around the spider like digits. His smile was.......disgusting Kodee would think.

Clu Chor, it’s a nice to be meetin in the flesh with you.” Kodee would say striding forward into the room as if to meet an old friend. Holding out his own hand he’d shake the Muun’s even bringing it close and kissing one of the rings.

Captain Koodee, welcome to my humble office, I hope we can make your stay here as comfortable as possible for the duration of our business.....” he opened his arms as though he was willing to do the both of them a great service, though only a fool would see that they weren’t going to have to pay for it one way or another. “And whoo have youuu brought with youuu?” He would say standing and moving around the desk and taking Klaras hand. Kodee would allow the human to speak for herself to the Muun who would quickly then launch into business. Time was money to a Muun after all.

Klara had seen places like this before; there were a few of them scattered across the poorer neighborhoods of Onderon. They preyed on the poor, ignorant, and desperate by offering payday loans that provided temporary relief at the cost of long term financial liberty. No one looked happy, each one had dulled expressions and downcast eyes as if they were realizing the depth of their problems only now in the presence of those without similar woes. Klara, for her part, kept her eyes trained on B7-J0's back, she was unable to meet the gaze of any of the poor souls who ventured to glance up at her.

The room Klara and Kodee entered contrasted sharply with the rest of the establishment. Where the lobby had been dingy the room was well-lit and where the room smelled vaguely of foreign perfumes the lobby; the two places were truly night and day. More intriguing to the mechanic than the decor, however, was the alien lifeform within. Taller than both Klara and Kodee by a good amount the creature she recognized as a Muun struck the woman as strange. She'd never met one in person before and she found herself having to will herself not to stare at the creature's oversized head that, with Clu Chor drawing closer, Klara had a hard time ignoring.

"Oh, Klara, Klara Kadell," she chirped, taking the Muun's oversized hand. "Kodee brought me along for my slicing skills."

"Slicer Kaadeel, it is a pleasure," the Muun replied, flashing an overwide smile before pulling away from the handshake. "It is goood that Captian Koodee brought you aloong."

Clu Chor returned to his seat and offered the two bounty hunters the two empty ones across from him, which Klara accepted immediately.

"The individual I am seeeking is a slicer hiimseelf; whoo beetter to catch a raat than another raat?" The Muun laughed to himself, clearly amused by his own turn of phrase. "I will noot mince woords, I am seeeking a maan named Kandar Wat. He a slicer whoo owes me mooney. He was last seeen in the noorthern hemisphere aboard the Synth Works station where his corvette is cuurently undergoing repairs. He teends to hang out around the local bars and the holo arcades, I recoomend looking there first."

He paused here taking a sip of some crimson liquid before continuing.

"I trust thiis is no issuue foor you, Captain Koodee?"

The Muun steepled his fingers and smiled a toothy smile. The alien was certainly offputting, to say the least, and his gaze caused the self-proclaimed slicer to shift uncomfortably shift in her seat. Whatever optimism Klara had for the job initially had drained from her with Clu Chor's initial handshake.

Of all alien life, Kodee found little beauty in the Muun, and of all Muun life there was even less in the being before them. He was playing nice, the creature had deep pockets and unfortunately the crews of the Circus II were more shallow than any cared to admit. As for Klara he could practically sense the uncomfortableness radiating off her. After he had shaken her hand Clu Chor returned to his seat, and the duo retired to their own.

The plan was straight forward and easy. Three avenues to pursue. A shipyard, the local bars, and the arcade. The name Kandar Wat was unfamiliar to him, though Kodee was still learning the players in the outer rim, his preferred sector of space.

Of course issues won’t be a concern.” The Rodian would say saving his hand lightly as if this was something he did every day. “Klara best human slicer in the outer rim, childs play” He would wave towards the human whose present face didn’t show that same level of confidence.

This caused a new look from the Muun. His protuberant eyes shifted back to the human where they had been focused on the Rodian. “I’vee neever heaard oof heer.” He would say his eyes trying to scan through the human as though he was attempting to biological slicing.

But of course....”. The green hand waved bringing the clients expression back to that of Kodee. “If you better than everyone would your name be out there?” This question seemed to get the Muun thinking even though he still didn’t look entirely convinced. “Now about our payment, and we will need a base of operations obviously......”. He would continue with a few more items making sure the attention was on him. It was always a good idea to ask for a little more than what you needed, though in Kodee’s case he might be trying for a little much.

The Muun's eyes shifted uneasily from Klara back to Kodee, though the mechanic could not help but feel as if she were out of place. The banker's assessment had, after all, been correct: no one knew her. She was, for all intents and purposes, a nobody in the field of slicing. In a way, it was comforting but now, under the appraising eye of the Muun, it made her feel small and useless in a galaxy that couldn't care less about her.

"Let me stoop yoou right there, Captain Koodee," the Muun put up one of his long fingers to silence the Rodian. "Yoour payment wiill be as we agreeed previously and I uunderstand yoou arrived oon a freighter."

The Muun slid his fingers across the desk in front of him bringing up a holo-image of The Circus II.

"This," he jabbed his finger through the projection. "Will serve as yoour base of ooperatioons. Secure a berth oon yoour oown and I will reimburse yoou. Noow, if yoou'll excuuse me, I have my business tooo attend tooo."

Spreading his hands apart, the Muun dispersed the holo-image in shattering of pixels.

"Farewell, Captain Koodee and Slicer Kaadeel."

It was clear the Muun was done with them for he had busied himself with a small holo-ledger. Pushing back her chair, Klara took this as her cue to make an exit. This time she would take the lead as she doubted either her or her Rodian companion could take much more of their client. If before the mechanic had no opinion on the Muun, then she certainly did now.

Very well, if this is how you want things..”. Kodee would say shrugging his shoulders. As if he was the one holding all the cards, despite the amount of collateral was clearly one sided. “I expect will you send a picture to the ship I own? If the base it’s going to be.” Standing up he’d look at the Muun who briefly waved which He took to mean yes. Gesturing at Klara he’d indicate it was time to go.

Making their way out through the nice office to be reminded exactly what this place was the crowd seemed to have started to disperse. Behind them a chain link door guard was moved down, only to be activated into a laser array. “Muuns.........literally the worst. No sense of how things should be done.” Kodee would say to Klara as they walked back towards the ship. His basic already better than what it had been in with the Muun. Though it was never perfect and clearly spoken as a second language, it was now obvious he had been playing on the slower side for the employer. “You should at least offer hotel room. Or dinner and drinks.....I’ll be glad when we associate with better clientele. He’s clearly used to praying on people than working with them.

The rest of the walk back would be fairly uneventful. It hadn’t been a bad meeting, but it could have been better. Working with such low lives he felt was beneath him, but one had to start somewhere, and it was better than being shot by a brother.

Once back inside the ship Kodee retracted the landing ramp, and locked the ship. Awaiting in the com que was an image of the hacker they needed to grab. Looking at the man he didn’t look like the type to own a pleasure barge, though maybe that was his aesthetic, or maybe, the thought crossed Kodee’s mind, they were after the wrong sleemo.
