    Auction House, Invite Only

Chandrila, a small planet with calm seas and rolling hills; at its heart stood the capital, a cluster of glittering spires and fine architecture. Voyagers in their thousands flocked to this idyllic world, seeking to enjoy all the comforts and luxuries up on offer. Rohana was no stranger here; she had visited this planet often, especially for galas and noble gatherings. It had been expected of her, seeing as she was to inherit the family legacy.

But that was a lifetime ago. Things had changed, and so had Rohana.

She was now a woman on a mission; in fact, she had come to Chandrila for a very specific purpose. Tonight, there would be an auction only open to a select few. The elite of the society, or those wealthy enough to barter for an invite. Though an exile in spirit, Rohana was still very much regarded as a noble; she petitioned entry and was granted without much qualm. All she had to do now was linger and wait, aloof in her stunning attire - soon the prize would present itself, the missing key to her puzzling aspiration.

    A kyber crystal.

A word from a reliable source said that an actual crystal was going to be up on the auction. An inconceivable thought, given the mineral's dangerous potency, not to mention the Empire's strict control on mining. Legend states only the brightest stars have hearts of kyber; that's why the ancient Jedi used them in their weapons of choice: the lightsaber.

Rohana had hers, a relic in itself. All that was needed now was a power source. Force willing, she would be the night's winning bidder.

Simple garbs wouldn't do today and neither would armour. Jedi padawan Vardon Galland had received news that something, still unspecified to him, dangerous would be sold during the nights auction and he was here to stop it. Admittedly, he was not so much approaching the task with care and finesse but rather charging into it blindly. The information didn't reach him until it was already too late to come up with an elaborate plan on how to best deal with the situation. The potential danger which the auctioneers and the bidders were in, however, seemed to justify his rather blunt approach to the matter.

Dressed in a puffy white shirt covered by a tan green vest and then a champagne coloured jacket with embroidered Chandrilian floral patterns, he at least looked like he could belong in the fancy auction. His lightsaber was hidden on the jacket's inside. Unfortunately, the organisers didn't seem to care so much about how someone was dressed but whether they were on the guest list or not.

After having tried to convince the guards of letting him in for a good five minutes, the padawan decided to attempt a different approach. Instead of entering the building from the main entrance, he started to walk around the fancy complex until he came to the courtyard, surrounded by hedges of varying sizes and shapes. A few people stood by the stone terrace to have a smoke or to chat in the fresh evening air. Fortunately for the Thyferran, the area lacked any real amount of guards or attentive guests to notice the tall man make his way over a hedge and into the courtyard. After having discretely made his way to the terrace and then into the building, Vardon closed the door and let out a heavy breath.

He was in - now, he would just need to locate whatever it was that he had been told to be dangerous. While the clothes he wore and the posture he held told of someone born into wealth and nobility, the padawan was quite lost in the current setting. Galland looked around the building and noticed that most were slowly making their way to the eastern wing. Deciding to follow the stream, Vardon soon entered the large hall in which the auction were to take place. Taking a moment to scan the room, the Thyferran noticed that people around his age seemed to be rather rare. Finally, he spotted the woman in the platinum blonde hair at the other end of the room who seemed to be around the same age as him, and then two others, looking more like messengers than anything else.

Vardon's eyes narrowed slightly whilst his head leaned to the right as he saw the young woman. He was confident that what he sensed was another force user. Perhaps the light had taken him here for something else than the danger which he had been warned about. Saying the odd 'hello' and providing a few others with a forced smile, the padawan started making his way through the crowd towards the presumed force sensitive.

Rohana couldn't remember the last time she attended such a high-end function. Truthfully, it wasn't actually that long ago, but it felt like another lifetime. Rather than float through life, Rohana marched forward; she felt now she had a purpose, a destiny to obtain. And one final piece was here, in and amongst some of the galaxy's wealthiest patrons. So, she did as she had done in the past; she mingled and spoke with others, every so often scanning about her person.

There was...electricity in the air? No, not quite like that. More of a pulse. Where was it coming from? Could it be...

Feeling curious, Rohana felt tempted to investigate. But she was stopped short. Attendants were gathering up all the bidders, inviting them to the main observation hall; there all the exhibits were out on display. Fine works of art, nestled right next to ancient antiquities. Jewels befitting a queen were perched adjacent to live, exotic animals - many were of the feathered variety. But Rohana gave none of the items any of her attention. No, that was reserved for one thing and one thing only.

    The kyber crystal.

The heart of stars, a living stone of light. The very thing rumoured to power a Jedi's lightsaber.

Despite its small size, the crystal was beautiful to behold. The purest of blue, it shone without the need for artificial light. It seemed to glitter with life all on its own, adding to its own mystique. If Rohana needed any proof, then this was it. A real kyber crystal, so close she could almost touch it. And she would have, if not for the pressurised security glass.

Bidders would get their chance, once the auction officially opened.

    Any minute now... Soon.
