    Archives of Jedha's provincial city

Jedha was an ancient world; its sands were older than civilizations built amongst them. Pilgrims from all walks of life seemed to gravitate here and with them, they brought knowledge. Some say a pious king started the planet's archives, that every traveler visiting his world needed to pay a boon in the form of scripture. How ironic that now the king's own name was lost to time itself, as were many things on Jedha. Statues and visages lay strewn on the city's outskirts, all whilst archaic landmarks crumbled into rubble.

Only the archives endured and for that, Rohana was thankful. Literature was a fostered interest, one her father had nurtured early in childhood. When not on assignments, Rohana could be found here, hidden away amongst the scrolls of ages. True there were other patrons about, religious monks and curious scholars, but like many natives of Jedha, they mostly kept to themselves.

The heat today was particularly harsh; reluctantly, Rohana had forgone her usual cloaked attire and instead opted for something lighter. Her left arm, still in its sling, was on display but none dared to offer the pale lady aid; her scowl could halt a raging Wookie, it was so cold.

It didn't matter. Rohana had always been one to prefer solitude.

Whilst others left the archives in search of cooler conditions, the noble stayed and engrossed herself in reading. Gifting herself but a moment of reminiscent luxury, she allowed her treasured locket to play its melodious tune.

Sakadi descended from the uneven stairs, she had never been in this part of the archives before. Sure, she had entered the archives many times before, but no scroll or book had kept her here longer than an hour before. The amount of knowledge gathered here reminded her of home, relentlessly studying in hopes of getting a shred of love from her parents. It was not something she liked to remember, thus she kept her visits as short as possible. What she did like about this place though, was that everybody minded their own bussiness. No one asked her questions, something she was grateful for. Even the most simple questions often took terribly long to answer for the mute woman.

The reason for her visit today was a simple scroll. The scriptures of these archives had various subjects, with the Force being a rather frequent topic. Hoping to learn about the mysterious universe binding power from different angles had forced her to delve deep into the archives today. Her gaze shifted over the many carved out shelves which held an unimaginable amount of knowledge. The lavender ears of the slender woman twitched after she passed a small group of pelgrims. Is that... music? It was a simple tune, making use of only a few different tones. It was rather sad in her opinion, but that did not stop her from looking for its source.

Surprise was visible on the Sephi's face as she found the source. She knew that the woman was a Jedi padawan, much like her. Rumors of her cold demeanor had reached even Sakadi, but that was all she knew about the woman in question. Sakadi didn't know her name or origin. Not that it mattered though, as she wasn't planning on sticking around to find out. She quickly glanced at the source of the music; a small treasure locket. She would've left immediately after, had her attention not been caught by the small sigil on the locket. It seemed awfully familliar, but she just couldn't put her finger on it.

Rohana didn't allow herself many luxuries, not anymore at least. But this locket...this locket was something she treasures greater than anything else in the world. She'd surrender her saber before losing this - a family heirloom. It had been passed down for only a few generations now, but its value was near priceless. Adorning it was the sigil of House Feyre, a cosmic star dotted with the smallest, most perfect pearls. In times of distress, Rohana would find herself thumbing the locket ever so gently. She'd then scold herself for it. Steadfast, always. That was the motto of her family, the creed by which they lived. Anything left was an insult to the legacy of her house.

So the pale lady simply sat there, listening to the dolce tunes as they play out their melody. Her mind wandered and memories began to surface once more. Her father's noble visage overseeing the core of their happy family. His second marriage allowed Rohana to become a big sister - how she adored her siblings, spoiling them. Again and again, they'd ask for the song to play and every time Rohana yielded without a second thought.

But times had changed. Everyone was gone now, except for her.

Snapping the locket closed, Rohana abruptly stood. She took a moment, inhaling for strength, before exhaling out a puff of weighed gloom. Returning to reality, the pale lady's back grew stiff and she turned, now sensing Sakadi's presence in the archives. The locket had worked its magic yet again, ensnaring her to point she hadn't even noticed the purple girl's company.

Thunder clouded Rohana's eyes; needless to say, she was embarrassed. Rarely did anyone see her so... lugubrious. She went on the back and for a moment looked ready to confront Sakadi about her ill-advised timing. Her expression was nothing short of unpleasant.

But it vanished, just as quickly as it had all appeared. Rohana looked now looked unsure, a rare expression for someone like her. She simply stared at Sakadi, head titled ajar ever so slightly. Then, after a moment of prolonged silence, recognition finally blossomed. "I know you..."

Thousands of images shot through her mind as she tried to figure out where she had seen the sigil before. Serenno? No. She knew all the important sigils of the Serenno Houses. Just like she knew those of Alderaan. Coruscant maybe? No, the woman in front of her didn't strike her as someone from Coruscant.

The expression on the woman's face did not go unnoticed to her. Just as she prepared to apologize and leave, the cold and uninviting expressions melted like snow in the sun. While Sakadi had definitely forgotten where she knew the woman from, the same could not be said of the white haired lady. It was Sakadi's turn to slightly tilt her head now, raising an eyebrow in the process. She wanted to know more. An incomplete memory, that was something she could not accept. Sakadi pulled a second chair towards her and sat down in front of Rohana. She kept her back straight, her two purple hands resting folded on her lap as she calmly waited for Rohana to elaborate. The white-haired lady felt familliar, familliar enough for Sakadi to stick around despite the not-so inviting expression the woman had earlier.

There was no mistaking it, Rohana knew this woman. "You're that opera singer. You performed on Onderon during the royal gala."

What are the odds she'd run into her here, of all places and that Sakadi was also a Jedi padawan? Truly, the Force worked in mysterious ways - who would have thought the Sephi would share in this destiny? Honestly, it was a welcome revelation. So far, Rohana had found nothing much disappointment in the Jedi ranks. Absent masters, questionable recruits. Compared to them, Sakadi was already a refreshing change of pace. There was an elegance to her, a cultured poise not so dissimilar to the noble herself.

The royal gala had been a wonderful event, something which Rohana still remembered rather vividly; barely on the cusp of womanhood, the pale lady had attended the event, not as an heiress, but as the newly instated head of the Feyre family. Duty had demanded she attend the event and make herself known to others of her status; she was the one now charged with carrying on her house's noble legacy. Quite a daunting task, give her age at the time.

And yet, Rohana remembered how ironic it was that the evening's entertainment was just as young. Everyone marveled at the young singer, some brought low with tears. When the audience gave conclusive applause, Rohana had clapped with them, genuinely delighted with Sakadi's whole performance. She had then relayed the experience to her family, even orchestrating outings to some live concerts.

The two had never formally met, but on more than one occasion, they had certainly been within each other's line of sight. Now, the time seemed right to make some formal introductions. "My name is Lady Feyre. Rohana Feyre." She then balked, realising her earlier impression may now be seen as less than flattering. "Please, pardon my rudeness. I...wasn't expecting company."

It was when Rohana mentioned it, that she knew where the woman was from. Well, woman was the wrong word. Lady was a better choice. She remembered the royal gala on Onderon all too well, her parents had insisted that she'd perform on the gala when she was invited to do so. While she wasn't a stranger to giving performances by that time, she had never performed before such influential people before. But her father and mother wanted to be among the royals and because Sakadi thought that it would make them happy, she had been willing to perform. Sakadi remembered her mother all too well, pointing out who the important lords and ladies of Onderon were. And it had not just been the lords and ladies of Onderon who came to the royal gala. Royal families and nobles from all throughout the entire inner rim and core worlds had been present. Among them, Lady Feyre. The brief description of her mother was something she still remembered to this date, as she had done with all her mothers' instructions.

"You see that young woman over there? That is the newly appointed Lady Feyre. She is the perfect example of what a lady should be like. Take note Sakadi, you will need a posture like that if you want to achieve something in your life."

Looking back on it now, Sakadi had based a lot of her manners and posture on the lady currently in front of her. Not just her though, no, in an effort to make her mother proud, Sakadi had studied the general behaviour of most young Ladies. That was exactly why she bit her lip right now, frustrated that she couldn't give a polite reply to Lady Feyre. She considered using sign language for a moment, but it was unlikely that Lady Feyre knew that language. If Sakadi had learned something since she joined the Order, it was that Jedi absolutely didn't comprehend sign language. She had yet to find the exception. Instead, she would bet on a more simple method.

Sakadi flattened her left hand, with the palm upwards. With her right hand, she made scribing gestures on her left hand. Lady Feyre was intelligent, so she hopefully understood what Sakadi meant. The universal gesture for "Do you have something I can write with?". She didn't know what event had brought Lady Feyre to the Jedi Order, neither did she expect Lady Feyre to know what events lead Sakadi here. Which would also mean that she didn't know about her loss of voice. In fact, very few people knew about the fate of the young opera singer. Her parents had declared her dead soon after she left home under the guise of "failed surgery". Not that anyone bought that lie, but her fate remained shrouded in mystery. What mattered to her now though, was why Lady Feyre had a reputation as cold and unapproachable, despite having been the proud figurehead Sakadi had admired from a distance.

Sakadi looked flustered and for a moment, Rohana couldn't think of a reason why; was it something she said? Did she have the wrong person? No, this was most definitely Sakadi Marathi Sinvala, she'd recognise the purple woman anywhere. This in itself was quite an unexpected surprise; Rohana swore she heard something about a tragic death. Yet here Sakadi stood, living, breathing but minus talking. Then again, it wasn't so unusual, especially if Sakadi was now a Jedi Padawan.

Perhaps news of the death had been circulated to protect her; it was a dangerous duty, becoming a Jedi, making enemies out of both the Empire and its mongrel Sith. Rohana herself had chosen exile, near enough disavowing everything she was once set to inherit. To be fair, however, part of that was done to spite a certain individual.

Regardless, Rohana waited for Sakadi to shed some light on her situation. She waited and continued to wait till finally something dawned on her. She's a mute?

Had something happened? What could have possibly robbed such a talented woman of her voice? Too polite to ask, however, Rohana obliged and offered Sakadi her portable datapad. "Type using the screen and then enter; it'll speak the text aloud."

Normally Rohana wouldn't concern herself with her fellow Jedi's situations; why should it matter? If a person was now a Jedi, then that is what they should focus on and devote themselves to. Still, she'd be lying if she said she wasn't interested in what Sakadi had to 'say', especially as to what brought her so deep into the archives.

Sakadi gratefully accepted the portable datapad with a slight nod. She made sure the volume was low enough to not bother the other visitors of the archives, but loud enough for Rohana to hear. First things first; she owed Lady Feyre an apology for her impolite manners. Sakadi quickly tapped the sentences she wanted to convey on the datapad. The robotic voice was a cruel replacement for what once had been her own, beautiful voice, but it fullfilled it's task.

Pardon me for my lack of manners. Normally I would have confirmed your suspicions, but I lost my voice during the surgery that saved my life. It has made conversing rather difficult.

It was still hard to admit for the Sephi. She had lost not just her voice that day, but also life as she knew it. Her parents had thrown her out quickly after she lost his worth; the only thing that had ever concerned them was the wealth of their daughter. They had lived of her income like leeches, caring little about how their only daughter felt. But now, she was a servant of the Light side. She had dedicated her life to serving it, and it had given her more than she could ever hope of. For the first time in her life, she could say that she had a home. However, she had yet to find a family. Her damaged vocal cords made communication with others unpleasant, to the point where she could count her 'friends' on one hand. Therefore, she was grateful to have found Lady Feyre. But why was she here?

Her lavender colored fingers moved over the datapad again, with the astounding speed of a daily practicioner.

If you don't mind me asking Lady Feyre, what path has brought you to the Jedi Order?

Despite the rolmodel Lady Feyre had been for Sakadi, she didn't know much about the woman. Sakadi was always out of touch with reality before she lost her voice, this being another great example of her isolated youth.

Lost her voice? How dreadful, truly a great loss - both for her and the greater galaxy. But Rohana would not insult Sakadi by offering pity; it would do little good. Instead, the pale lady focused on the positives. "The galaxy believes you dead; I am glad to see however that this is not the case. Your performance bought great joy to many people, including my family. I...can't thank you enough for those memories."

Even now, Rohana remembered one particular event; it was Muriel's birthday and being the big sister that she was, Rohana treated her to a venture offworld, which of course included a concert. Yet again Sakadi was present and performing but this event was much small than the gala. Rohana doubted if the purple girl even knew they were in the audience but Muriel had loved it and that's all that mattered. Thinking back to those times made Rohana smile, something which she hadn't done in a very long time.

So entranced, the padawan almost missed Sakadi's question - the robotic overtones caught her attention. Indeed, the datapad's module was less than pleasant to hear. They might have to change that.

All smiles faded when Rohana spoke; once more her expression make shadowed. The only thing to retain its edge were her eyes. Her cold, icy blue eyes. "Need you ask? The Empire. Their Imperial Navy bombarded my homeworld - my family lost in the sacking. It is for them I take up this cause."

Feeling she had nothing left, Feyre simply abandoned her hollow legacy. Her step-mother took up the mantle, maintaining it should the wayward heir ever return but Rohana had her doubts. With every passing day, she devoted herself more and more to the Jedi cause. She was strong in the Force and she would be its champion; the Empire and its Sith horde would be brought to justice.

It saddened her to hear what cruel fate had befallen Lady Feyre. The smile on her face had vanished when she spoke, returning her to the cold persona who Sakadi still couldn't believe was Lady Feyre. While it was none of her bussiness, she still felt the need to reply. Perhaps it was because of her stubborness, or simply because she wanted to help, but she would type the next words knowing full well what kind of territory she was entering. The fact that it was the robotic voice speaking, and not that of a living being removed a bit of it's emotional weight, which was unsatisfying for her.

With all respect Lady Feyre, they are not lost. They're still in here.

Timing it just right with the robotic voice, Sakadi reached out pointing at the heart of the pale lady in front of her. She was just a bit too far away to touch her, but that wouldn't have been appropiate anyway. By now, she had either truly angered Lady Feyre, or she hoped to have somewhat helped the woman with her grief. She was part of the order for a single cause, it seemed like. Revenge. Part of the Jedi way was to let go of your anger, hate and fear, although Sakadi fully understood that it wasn't easy for the pale Lady. Sakadi had known little failure or regret in her life. Yes, she had lost her voice and career, but those losses had opened new doors for her. That was not going to be the case for this childhood idol of hers.

Attempting to change the subject, Sakadi nodded towards the various books and scrolls piled around Rohana, before shifting her gaze back to the woman. An indication for "what are you reading", if she didn't fail to get that across. Wouldn't be the first time someone misunderstood her, but the monotone voice of the datapad wasn't to her liking. Especially now she used it to touch such a difficult subject, the family of Lady Feyre, that was. If anything Sakadi wanted to get an emotion out of her that was different from the cold, annoyed anger she portrayed. Even her force signature felt cold and unapproachable. Much like her own, now she thought about it.
