The GCS Corusca was not a particularly great vessel to look at. A Nexus II class haulage ship, most of its interior was taken up by large scale mag-clamp containers, secured to thin rails that dominated its cargo space. The rest of the vessel - and its only crew inhabited section - was the topside bridge and a thin walkway across the ships spine, toward the engines, crew areas running off the side sporadically. However, despite appearances, she was a capable vessel with the right crew.

Hoping ardently that the 'right crew' was what he was being sent, Captain Merced of the Boabab Merchant Fleet stood at the rear end of the vessel, checking through the manifests as the two Heavy Lifter Droids finished loading up. He was dressedin a company overall, utility belt fastened around the middle, and a hard-hat atop his head. "One engineer, a pilot..." he mumbled to himself as he read down the crew manifest he had been commed by the companies nearest system agent "...and 'assorted deck hands'. Great." he rolled his eyes, and turned to face the entrance to the dock - time to see just what he would be flying with.

A clank behind him took his attention, and Jorhan turned to see the approaching Labour Droid looking more forlorn that usual. It gave a crude thumbs up sign, and sent over the completed inventory take. Around fourty tonnes worth of repair kits, hardly the exciting stuff, would be what they would be shipping out with today. He waved the droid off, and got ready to meet the new crew.

Parker Tam made his way through the Kuat shipyard and toward his new job. He was mildly surprise at how busy the shipyard was at the moment, but he didn’t let it bother him.
If the job was even half as good as he anticipated, then he would be fine. He was being hired to pilot a ship... And that suited him perfectly. Being in the cockpit of a ship was where he belonged and felt most comfortable. It was home.

As he turned down the long walkway to where the ships were docked, his eyes fell upon the Nexus II and he stopped. He checked his data pad to make sure this was where he was supposed to be. Sure enough. It was.

It wasn’t the prettiest ship in the galaxy, but the Nexus Series were quite sturdy and lasted a long time, if you treated them right that is.
This one in particular was a bit rough around the edges but with a good mechanic, it would be just fine.

He smiled to himself and sling his large green military issue duffel bag over his shoulder and headed toward the gangplank.
Upon seeing someone, who he assumed was the Captain, Tam went to go introduce himself.
“Captain Mercad?” he asked. “I’m Parker Tam. Your new pilot. But you can call me Maverick.”
He glanced around at the interior of the ship. “Not a bad choice in the Nexus series. They hold up better in hyperspace than their predecessors. Don’t shake as much during re-entry. So where can I store my gear?”

Enoch looked left and right. He usually had a knack of looking calm and confident in all situations. Today, though, he had a certain shifty air to him. He crossed the road and again looked to see he wasn't being followed.

He double checked his datapad against the name of the ship he had come to. Satisfied, he made his way to the boarding ramp. As he approached the Captain, he returned into military mode as if he had never left the army. Clicking his heels together, he announced his arrival. "Enoch North, reporting for duty."

He held only a small duffel with a newly bought change of clothes in it. His only possession was the blaster hidden in the back of his trousers.

Einar strode through the Kuat shipyards, looking at the vessels in various states of repair. He had initially been iffy about coming to a place with so many people, but it turned out that a shipyard was heaven for the Deucalian mechanic.

This whole situation was an odd change for the reclusive man. He had left his ship back on Hoth and come with only his weapons and his roll of precision tools, the ad he was answering had said that there would be tools supplied.

Eventually he found his destination. A Nexus II class under the command of a Captain Mercad. He noted a couple other men with the captain. As he approached he took down the hood of his dark green cloak, revealing his thinning hair and black facepaint.

"Captain...Mercad? Einar Valgard, Mechanic. I assume I don't have to get her spaceworthy before we take off." His comment was meant to be a joke, but with his flat tones it might not be taken that way. Einar was a tough guy to get, and that's the way he liked it.

"Well, Eider? What do you think of all this?"

From behind the pilot seat, Irma Kinton's personal droid, a squat bibliomech designated ID-3R02, or just "Eider" for short, warbled a reply. Though the droid spoke only binary, Irma - who had owned the droid for some time - could get at least the gist of his words; what he said now caused the young Tintinna to smile, shaking her head.

"Oh I'm sure it's not as bad as all that." Irma replied, keying in a few things to her ship's navicomputer as it slid through hyperspace. "The Baobab Merchant Fleet is strictly above board, hells, they're an institution! Everything will be fine, and this'll look great on our resume!"

Irma dismissed Eider's uncertain warble, tapping a few more controls.

"Anyway, get ready, we're almost there."

Irma's personal starfighter, a modified TS-1 Sunbolt dubbed the Khurel, dropped back into realspace abruptly. Filling the cockpit canopy, the vast globe of the planet Kuat appeared, surrounded by its thick ring of orbital shipyards, depots and other structures which churned out a good deal of the Galaxy's capital warship tonnage. Beaming a pre-arranged clearance code, Irma received landing instructions for a spot on the planet below. Angling in her ship, she made for it.

"And really, what could happen to us?"

    ---------------------------------------

A while later, Irma was circling the pad where a Nexus II bulk freighter was also parked. Deftly, she eased her craft down beside the much larger ship, closing down systems aboard the snubfighter before popping the cockpit canopy with a hiss.

"Oh, hey folks!" She called, waving to those gathered. She then pointed at the much larger freighter. "Hey! This is the GSC Corusca, right? BMF hired me as your escort for this voyage!"

'His' crew was forming up nicely, a good range of skills and talents - and all for very little by way of company credits. The bosses would be pleased indeed, Jorhan smirked as ehe waved at the newcomers. Parker Tam was the first to arrive, and Jorhan greeted him with a firm handshake - the pilot would be something of a right hand man for him in days to come no doubt, as was often the case on such vessels. "Maverick ey? You ever flown one of these," he smiled sarcastically "...beauties before?"

"As for you gear, you have a locker room on the main deck, and in the crew cabins you all have a lockbox. Weapons, if you have them, need stowing in the armoury." he added, making a mark on his list to check the pilot off. As the Pilot headed onboard, Enoch North was next to arrive, and was greeted in a similar fasion. "Enoch," Jorhan said, as if confirming the name in his head "...deckhand yeah?" he did not wait for confirmation. "Your bunk two, weapons in the armoury, gear in the lockers. You know the drill."

Einar Valengard was to arrive soon after, and Jorhan greeted her with the only word for 'hello' he knew in Deucalian, hopefully to her surprise before continuing "Merced." Jorhan corrected politely "And you must be the mechanic? We have gear for you in the engine room, and a locker and lockbox for you as well. Weapons in the armoury, blah blah blah." he waved her onto the ship.

"...and no." he shouted up after her "She is good to go."

    I think.

Finally Irma Kinton was the last to join the team, and Jorhan waved her on quickly, with all the crew now gathered, he called them together on the boarding ramp, assuming they had stowed their gear correctly, and introduced himself "Right then. Names Jorhan Merced, and I'll be your Captain for this trip." he nodded as if to punctuate his point "We have a pilot, decker, engineer and security." he pointed to each of them in turn "From here, we head to Onderon, then Mandalor and then over to Korriban." he did not need a map to show the route, after all only a few of them really needed to know. "We are making drops and collections at each stop, try and stay outta trouble naturally. Any questions?"

Enoch didn't know the drill, but he didn't admit that sort of thing. He went and put his bag in the locker pointed out to him. His pistol, however, stayed in his waistband. He wasn't totally ready to trust his new companions.

He got back to the gathering on the boarding ramp just as the Captain started his introductions and briefing. Staying out of trouble was precisely what he wanted from life right now, so this seemed to be the right place for him. Though, he still didn't quite know what being a 'decker' entailed. This was also something he didn't want to admit openly.

The whole situation was unusual for Enoch. For many years, he had been used to calling the shots; but that had very much been in a two-feet-on-the-ground in both a literal as well as figurative way. Desperate times, however, call for crackpot plans, as they probably ought to say.

Turning from what he didn't know to what he did, Enoch quickly turned to assess his fellow travelers. It didn't look good for Enoch. Other than the Captain, everyone seemed to be younger and have more obviously relevant skills to the mission. He would have to find an angle at some stage.

When the Captain asked for questions, Enoch left a pregnant pause. When no one else spoke, he thought he would move things on: "just when do we get started?"

Maverick kept his mouth closed as the Captain named everyone. He knew he would get to know each person as they went, it was inevitable actually... since they would be working together and living on the same ship, they would have to get to know each other, and more importantly, trust each other.

As Mercad told them where they were heading, Tam folded his arms across his chest. Onderon wasn't too far away, but it would still give him a chance to find out more about the crew.
He glanced at the one called Einar... this was their engineer. He would be working closely with this one, to make sure the ship was able to do what was expected.. Maverick figured it would be best to get to know him first.

At the mention of questions, Maverick cleared his throat. "When are we leaving Cap?" He had a few more questions, but he didn't want to weigh the first meeting down with trivial matters. He was more anxious to get into the air and see what the ship could do.

A latecomers long walk of shame? Nay, Aurelie was running, at top speed. "Walkway to the left. To the left" she repeated for herself, whilst speedily making her way towards the ship. Running was fine, and for a thief such as Aurelie, necessary at times - but the vitesse at which she ran now was less than pleasing. Isolating any background noise, all the young woman heard was the sound of her boots tapping against the metallic floor as she turned left onto the long walkway. Running past a few different hangars, she quickly dismissed them with a short "Nope" until finally arriving at the entrance of the hangar in which the GCS Corusca stood. Quickly halting, Aurelie took a short moment to recover her breath while regarding the group ahead. "Yeap, this must be it" she whispered, making a final confirmation that this was indeed the correct hangar.

Her trusty blaster hung at her belt whilst a small knife was hidden in her right boot. It was always useful to be armed and having the hidden knife as a precautionary measure could hardly hurt. Additionally, Aurelie had a final trick up her sleeve, quite literally. On her left arm, underneath the beige greyish jacket, sat the N.E.V.D.A which held a slightly shortened and adapted vibroblade.

Already late, the young woman jogged towards the group "Hi.. everyone!" she exclaimed between breaths. With a wave, she gave them a big smile with bright eyes, hoping that they wouldn't mind the late arrival.
