    Randon Spaceport, Randon

For a very long time Alys had only known running, running from her family, running from the Sith, running from the Empire. Then she had found the Jedi, found a purpose, found the strength to stop running. And now, so many years later, here she was, working with the Sith. The Force, it seemed, did have a sense of humor after all.

Having arrived at the planet the previous day, they had been escorted to the accommodations that the Banking Clan had set up for them as their esteemed guests. Alys, still as excited to explore new worlds as she had been the day she had run away from home, had risen early and left the accommodations to travel around the capital city before making her way way back to the spaceport, where she now waited for the others in the reception area for the spaceport Director's office.

The objectives seemed simple enough, begining with bribing the spaceport Director, who if reputation was anything to go buy might be yet another greedy Muun for them to deal with. She had on her the various cred cards, holo disks, data chips, and a munch of other trinkets that Alliance intelligence had thought might help them with bribing the Director. Hopefully they had done their research and the Director would be amenable to their proposal.

Sitting by herself, she flipped through the reading material put out in the waiting area and mumbled to herself as she contemplated on the coming meeting. "A Jedi, a rebel, and two Sith walk into a meeting. Whatever could go wrong."

The Scarlet Fever was parked close to the meeting area in the only available spot Mid could get a hold of. At least he was pretty close to a fuelling station so it saved him the hassle of running around and looking for a refuelling team. He was excited for this joint operation. Not only would he be meeting again with a Jedi, but it would actually be in civil conversation and not at the edge of a lightsabre. Mid had two sides to him: The barbaric warrior that won't hesitate to cut down heretics...and the kind priest, charismatic and curious. Today wouldn't theoretically require weapons and so Mid was preparing for the diplomatic approach rather than the soldierly one.

But that doesn't mean he wasn't prepared for combat.

As always he was clad in his heavy armour and covered by the black silk cloak. He made sure to clean out every nook and cranny of his armour to make him look as presentable and professional as possible. His polearm was on his back and his crossguard lightsabre was on his left hip. He decided to ditch his pistols but his knife was still sheathed horizontally behind his back on his belt. Both the polearm and knife were hidden by his cloak, but his Lanvarok was clearly visible. The weapon was strapped to his right arm and he made sure to have the safety on. Next to the trigger sat another button that he embedded into the grip, hidden from view. It was a backup system but he hoped that it would not come to that. He wanted to use this opportunity to learn from the Jedi Order, see how they think and figure out how their beliefs worked.

He was shown to a luxurious private quarters along with the other representatives but he never got a chance to talk to them. The next day they were to meet with the Director of the spaceport and 'negotiate' with him. Mid had an entire anonymous transaction ready if money was what he wanted and as an envoy for the Empire he could provide an incentive or two to win the Director over. He had made his preparations and his intimidating presence spoke loud and clear that he, just like the Sith Empire, meant business.

He made his way through the hallway toward a waiting room. He could feel the familiar presence of a Jedi. This one was strong, much stronger than all the Padawans he had faced. This would prove very fascinating indeed. His hood was dropped and his helmet was under his left arm. His entire posture was relaxed, yet still sturdy. He was a warrior after all. He emerged into the room and caught the Jedi girl asking herself quietly what could go wrong. The comment brought a smile to his face, the thought of their position is quite amusing to say the least.

"Whether we be servants of Ashla or Bogan, one thing remains constant: The Force works in mysterious ways." he spoke casually. He stood a few metres from where the girl sat, looking her over for a second. "I must say, it's quite a pleasure to finally meet a Jedi in a way that does not involve bloodshed. Truly a meeting for the history books." his casual smile remained on his face as he gave a small nod at the girl. His calm demeanour and casual tone made it clear that he wasn't on the warpath as always...quite unusual for a Pureblood.

Markov arrived third of the envoy group, being dropped off by his personal craft, which he ordered to be parked close to the meeting site. Leaving his ship, he headed for the building. This mission was what would be a first for him: working with the Galactic Alliance and the Jedi Order to accomplish a goal instead of having to kill them. He was split on his opinion of it: he hated the Jedi with all of his soul, but he found it peculiar in just its context. Perhaps the Force intended to lead him to this moment for a time.

Entering the building, he was quickly escorted to rest in a private quarters. Locking the door and bidding the guards who took him in good night, he locked the door and quickly fell asleep in relaxation, resting himself in lieu of the next day. He woke up the next morning feeling rested up, as he went to put on some of his armor. He intended to look not like he was here to battle, but keep himself a presence of business indeed. Markov decided to not wear the helmet of his suit, but he the rest on at a minimal size. He headed for the room he was assigned to go to in a stroll. As he got closer to the room, he felt both a dark side presence, more similar to his own, but then a strong light one: was it a more powerful Jedi? He'd definitely not felt the force of a Jedi this powerful for a while. Entering the room, he stood at the door as he looked at the comrades he'd be working with. He smiled semi-meekly as he caught sight of the Sith then the female Jedi Knight. "The Force has brought us to this situation, hasn't it?" he said, beginning to walk to an open seat beside the Sith. "Even though it is quite... unique for a Jedi and Sith to work together, I welcome it. It is interesting after all to be working towards a mutual goal that is calm..."

Markov sat down as he waited for the fourth guest to arrive and then the host of the meeting. He tried to remain as casual as possible, despite him generally being extremely serious and such, but perhaps this could be a change at least prior to the meeting. Relaxing, he took in the details of the room as well as feeling the multitude of the Force within the room.

Okay, so Davis was a bit hungover. He hadn't planned on being hungover, but with only a Jedi for company during the long flight over he had gotten this craving for normality that he just had to itch at the local cantina. He wore a typical tunic befitting a spacer, his clothes not befitting the Core or any specific planet or sector, the only thing that stood out was perhaps his blaster pistol that was visibly holstered on his right hip. He had come back to the apartment when the Jedi was already vast asleep, or pretended to be, you never knew with this Forcers... and when he woke from his groggy slumber she had already gone. "Good start-" he sighed as he dizzily lifted himself up from the bed, "-partner."

About twenty minutes later he arrived just after the second Sith with a sandwich in his hand, datapad clenched underneath his armpit, and just able to catch the Sith's last sentence. "Oh kriff-" Davis cried, looking at both Sith and then at the Jedi, "-you'd think the mighty Empire would at least send a normalo-" he interrupted himself by taking a bite of his sandwich, "-diplomat or something."

The Rodian director of Randon's chief spaceport may have been a simple man, but he was a seasoned negotiator. These two traits, coupled together, insured he was one of the damned hardest people to convince to do something if he didn't want to. And today, he really didn't want to take orders from any Sith, Jedi, or anything in between that the IGBC saw fit to throw at him. They could have just sent him one of those big-headed bastards—Muun, was it?—that populated the ranks of the banking guild. Instead, he had to deal with a Jedi, two Sith, and a drunk old man who looked like he'd been plucked from the galaxy's poorest excuse of a port and thrown down on Randon. It was insulting. Then again, maybe it was just because he hadn't had his morning coffee.

The Twi'lek leader of Randon's commerce guild was was perhaps a bit more refined, and many wondered how he had even risen to power—he was an outlier. While the rest of the commerce guild was more hardy and perhaps more uncultured, he seemed to always think himself to be better than everyone. That would be nice and all, if he knew how to negotiate. He was somewhat of a push-over, and for that reason exactly, the director of the spaceport—Rax—had made a silent promise to himself to lead the negotiation, to prevent the dumb Twi'lek sitting to his right from doing something that could screw over their planet.

The two were sitting next to each other in a medium-sized chamber on comfortable armchairs, a coffee table in front of them along with 4 other seats facing them—1 for each representative. These were rather casual surroundings for such a meeting, but the emphasis had been on making everyone comfortable, so it made sense.

This whole meeting had been organized by the IGBC, and sitting in two other separate chambers was a representative of the freedom fighters on Randon and a representative sent by Zemass the Hutt, respectively. They were each awaiting their meeting with the envoys sent by the IGBC, though that was to take place later, after they were done with the leader of the commerce guild and the director of the spaceport. It would be a busy day for the envoys, and so it would be best to get a move on.

A Muun clad in purple robes emerged from within the building and into the waiting room to greet the representatives. Waving an arm around the room absent-mindedly, as if to beckon the envoys, he turned his head slightly behind him to motion toward the way from which he came.

"Yes, yes, the Force and all that. It is pleasing to see you are all getting along and have done your introductions—now let us move on to the 'meat'—so to speak—of today's proceedings." The Muun would then usher them down a small corridor with an elaborate carpet leading toward two spruce wooden doors—fancy. Once open, they would be welcomed to the chamber where their meeting with the two Randoni men would take place.

And their heads would snap up—both the Twi'lek's and the Rodian's—to size up who they would be speaking to. The Twi'lek opened his mouth, but the Rodian beat him to it.

"Rax Galivars, director of Randon City Spaceport. Here at my side is Tavros Serket, leader of Randon's Commerce Guild."

Alys looked up from the magazine that she had been flipping through at the arrival of the first Sith, making her wonder how long it had been since she had seen one of the red skinned folk in person. They had been a very common sight growing up on Korriban, there had been more than a few working as assistants and ladies in waiting for her parents. But this time felt like the first time she was actually meeting one of them, actually seeing their true nature. She had always heard about their natural connection to the Dark Side, but this was the first time she was truly able to sense it. She had been a child after all, her training far from complete when she had run away from Korriban. She was more now, and she could finally sense the darkness in the red skinned man. It filled her with a deep sadness, an entire people lost to the darkness.

But she pushed those thoughts out of her head and nodded in response to the Sith's greeting, putting away the magazine on the table she had picked it up from. "We do as the Force wills."

She was given no opportunity to respond to the arrival of the second Sith, or Davis, as a Muun entered the chamber soon after and escorted them to a smaller chamber, where the two representatives they were to meet waited for them. As the Rodian introduced the two of them, Alys performed a small yet respectful bow to both of them. "I am Alysanne Drast," she said as she straightened, letting her name linger for an almost imperceptible moment, "a Jedi Knight and Commander in the Galactic Alliance. My companion here is Davis Jan.[/b]" She gestured to Davis as she introduced him, observing the two bureaucrats as she spoke.

Mid nodded at Markov as he greeted. He wasn't sure how he felt about working alongside him. The Pureblood had heard about what happened at this little party of his as well as how he came crawling back to the Confessor at the Sacellum. But this was no time for petty grudges, rivalry or other simple issues. The would have to work together if this was to succeed.

He chuckled as the second GA envoy entered with sandwich in hand. The man was clearly a bit startled by coming face to face with a sith like this. He nodded at the man and looked back at the Jedi.

There was something strange about her. While he could feel the Light quite strongly in her, there was something else. A familiar darkness deep down, no longer even all that visible. He only felt that darkness with Darth Parox and a few other Drasts...she couldn't be, could she?

Before he had a chance to ask, a Muun representative came to meet them and escort them to their first meeting. The Rodian took initiative and spoke for the Twi'lek as well. Mid was slightly amused by this. It was clear who was going to be the more difficult one to negotiate with. The Jedi introduced herself and Mid had to focus hard to keep a straight face. A Drast? His suspicions were correct but he was still surprised. How on earth could a Drast become a Jedi? That almost felt...illegal? That was just about the only way he could sum it up. Illegal.

"Mid Samekh. Arch Priest of the Sacellum of Ilum and envoy of the Sith Empire. A pleasure to meet the both of you." Mid spoke clearly and proudly, giving a small bow. He stepped aside for Markov to stand next to him. "This is my associate, crusader Markov Aletaus.". He stood behind one of the seats in front of the group, awaiting permission from the two representatives to have a seat.

"Not very talkative, huh?" he asked the two that had remained silent. Already, it was becoming clear who would lead the negotiation and who was simply there as muscle. Unfortunately for them, they didn't need muscle—this was a diplomatic meeting. Both men were armed with DH7 blaster pistols and would not hesitate to shoot any troublemakers.

"Whatever. You can take a seat." The Rodian turned to the Twi'lek, and the two shared a knowing look. "Now please tell us why we should accept money from a bank and risk being in debt for generations."

Markov stood silent for a second, slightly losing focus into his thoughts. He questioned the force and the entire meeting, especially after interacting with the Jedi Knight. A plastered rebel entered the room as well
and then they were escorted to meet the leader they were to negotiate with. He was still contemplating as finally he was commented on. This made him re-focus as he turned to look at the Rodian. "Eh... perhaps you could say that..." he said as he sighed. In his mind, he sounded stupid, and he felt like he had little to no contribution to the affair at all.

"I believe we should develop these business relationships in order to mutually benefit both of us. You should definitely accept the offer, given the current situation with the rebellion. If you really want to capitalize on that, take our assistance and then we can keep this war as profitable as possible. Or if you would like, fund which ever side would make the most profit in logistics... Your choice. I can guarantee you that this system of finance will create a buisness relationship that will expand the IGBC's wealth..."

Markov relaxed a little after he explained his reason. Perhaps the Jedi Knight could strengthen and add to his reasoning to sway the Rodian further. He didn't want to be aggressive or extremely peaceful for now; a perfect middle ground. He wanted to open multiple possibilities and suggest reasons that could create profit. "Many opportunities can open up depending on your perception and analysis of what can benefit and what will be detrimental in the end, Rax"

Davis had seen fit to throw his sandwich into a nearby trashbin when the Muun arrived and lead them into a room with a Rodian and a Twi'lek. Davis knew a little about both species, which meant he knew both rodian and twi'lek pirates and judging from the very first few seconds looking at Dax and Stavros, he knew they were not. Didn't have the endless black stirring in their souls..

As the Jedi introduced him he bowed and when the rodian remarked he wasnt very talkative he bowed again. As it happened he had remembered the Twi'lek's name and the..eh.. history they shared. As a member of a pirate crew..a valued member at that... Davis had taken part in the acquisition of some of the guild's goods. Always bloodless, if he remembered correctly, but if it were to come out it could definitely turn sour for the bank.

Perhaps it was best if he took lead in the talks with the Hutt. All four of them giving long speeches like that Sith would only ruin these proceedings anyway.

Mid moved around and took a seat. The other soon followed suit and they immediately got down to business. He opened his mouth to start speaking but Markov beat him to the punch. He sat back calmly as Markov spoke, allowing the man to say his piece. When he was done Mid sat upright once again and spoke clearly, yet casually. "If I can tie in with what my colleague said..." he cleared his throat before continuing. "You two gentlemen are practically sitting on a goldmine here. Randon is a major hub for business and a lot of companies either work with or through the planet. Given that you are the director of the space port, I'd imagine you deal with all the logistics and finances of the port and all the ships that pass through here. Now, this port is crucial for businesses to...well...conduct business."

He sat forward a little, his yes moving between the two men as he spoke with enthusiasm. It felt as if he were preaching right now...

"Now I'm willing to bet that this war is scaring clients off and costing you a lot of money. Money that could have gone into more important matters. I'd say you need to take a loan from the Banking Clan in order to strengthen your position. As the saying goes 'you need money to make money'. If you take a loan from them...yes it will put you in debt. Sadly there's nothing to be done about that...but that money can be used to bolster your port, make clients feel safe once more, bring them back to deal with this goldmine. Once again I'd bet that money you loaned from them will be made back within the next 2 years. Long before the debt on you can grow to a point where it's unpayable." Mid shifted in his seat, a smile forming in the corner of his mouth. "Of course we can also provide you with a means to cut that debt down even further...and increase profit for the both of you." Mid finally finished, sitting back.

He was taking a risk, but this was their job. He shot a quick glance at the Knight and her associate, hoping that they would be able to back him and Markov up even further.

Alys didn't feel entirely comfortable with the course that they would have to take to get what they needed. Bribery and coercion didn't entirely feel like the Jedi way. But times had changed, maybe the Jedi needed to change from the stories she had heard about them as well. Taking a seat, she prepared herself for talking the two bureaucrats in front of them into doing things that she knew to be wrong, but somehow also right in the grand scheme of things. Sometimes the best way to deal with criminals was to think and act like them.

As the two Sith spoke, she listened and observed, waiting for a few moments after they were done to let the bureaucrats digest what they had said and maybe decipher the meaning hidden within them. She was sure the two men expected to be bribed, just as much as the for representatives knew they were building up to it, but in such matters you never could cut straight to the chase. There was a great deal of dancing about involved, and the Sith had just played the first notes.

"Sometimes, a step back can lead to a leap forwards. I am sure working with the Banking Clans will provide opportunities for great growth to one and all involved."

She would continue to observe the two men, studying their reactions and trying to get a feel for them. She wanted to make sure they did not push too hard or too less, all depending on how they reacted.

"I'm in." It was the first thing the Twi'lek had said all meeting, and elicited a stunned silence from the Rodian, who stared at him in shock.

"What do you mean you're in? You're that easily swayed?" The Twi'lek shrugged. Rax shook his head, disappointment visible on his face. He knew his colleague was stupid, but he hadn't expected him to be that stupid. The Twi'lek, meanwhile, stood up and began making for the door.

"You can have your people to get in touch with my people and solidify the finer details. I'll be taking my leave now; no need for me to stick around to bog down your meeting anymore." His irritation was visible in his voice and mostly targeted toward the Rodian. Then again, the envoys had presented some fairly good points and Tavros was convinced. No point in beating around the bush or sticking around to waste more time in this meeting. He was not particularly enthusiastic about diplomacy.

If uninterrupted, the Twi'lek would brush past through the envoys and exit from the way they came, silently bidding all goodbye. Rax, however, simply stared at him, not rising from his seat. The door would shut closed behind him.

Rax stood up straight in his seat and rubbed his palms together, the glint of greed in his eyes. "What was that you said about my cut?"

Mid's eyes shot to the twi'lek, who was the first to speak up...that's it? Well then. Mid was glad at least one of them was easy to sway. The Rodian was clearly not impressed, but the Twi'lek shot him down quickly enough. Mid fought back the smile as he watched the reserved, quiet Twi'lek dominate the meeting just like that.

He squeezed past Mid and Markov, obscuring the view of both the Rebels and the Rodian. He adjusted in his seat, and in the slightest slight of hand a holodisk emerged from under his left gauntlet and slipped into the Twi'lek's pocket. No one, aside from Markov, would have noticed. Not even the Twi'lek himself. Mid was not one for subtlety, but when he needed to be...he could be pretty karking sneaky.

The Twi'lek moved past, Mid was as sure as the day he was born he didn't notice...and with the positioning of the Twi'lek he knew that the rest of the room would not have seen. The Twi'lek would only notice the holodisk in his pocket long after he left.

The Rodian spoke up, asking about his cut. Mid gave a half-smile as a glimmer formed in his glowing golden eyes. He pulled a holodisk from a pouch on his belt and held it up for all to see. "Twenty thousand credits right here, right now from a secure account. Untraceable...apart from that, codes for you to take a 5% cut off any imperial ships moving cargo or making sales through the planet. Might not sound like much but with the cargo these ships will be moving your monthly paycheque will grow exponentially." Mid got right down to the point. He wanted to play it subtle...but clearly the Rodian didn't.

    That was fine with him.

And passing up a sum this tremendous is something only a mad man will do. And this roian didn't strike Mid as the mad type as well. He was sure that the rebels also had a plan of their own to sweeten the deal all the more.

Markov continued listening to discussion as suddenly the Twi’lek accepted the deal. The director was pretty shocked from it, which amused Markov, but he let it slide as the female left the room. As she left though, he noticed what Mid was doing and gave a passive look as the meeting continued. He observed the room as Mid began to do most of the talking at that point, especially from the obscure offer.

“Taking our offers would be in your best interest... but... I feel like your opinion about the war is necessary... So tell me, Rax. Which side of this sanctioned conflict do you support, and why?” He asked.

He wanted to get to know his opinion about the war that was being funded. Whichever side he chose to enlighten them on would most certainly benefit both Jedi and Sith if approached and analyzed well.

Alys was surprised at the ease with which the twi'lek had been convinced, but then maybe she shouldn't have been. After all, greed often went in hand with impatience. She let the man leave, and when the Rodian spoke up about his cut a slight smile appeared on her. At least this was one predictable.

As the Sith raised the holodisk for the Rodian to see, Alys put a hand into one of the pockets lining the inside of her robes and pulled out the pouch full of cred coins, slipping in the datadisk she had been given by alliance intelligence into the pouch before she pulled it out of her robes. She tossed the bag to the rodian.

"A similar sum, courtesy of the Galactic Alliance. To facilitate any other red tape you might be required to get out of the way. Two cuts, 5% each, that's enough to keep anyone happy."

While the Sith had used subtlety and stealth to get the holodisk to the Twi'lek, Alys had done it out in the open, and only when the director inspected all the contents of the pouch by inspecting them in a datapad would he or anyone notice what else she had slipped to him besides the bribe. With the second sith moving the conversation along, she waited for his response, to see where the conversation would go next.

To be honest, Davis was relieved when the Twi'lek left the scene and the Rodian revealed himself to be a greedy bastard. At least that meant no one in the room was so innocent as to look down on a pirate and his exploits while performing his pirating duties... except for the jedi. Kriff.

As Alysanne spoke and offered the rodian a bribe similar to the one the Sith had proposed, Davis smiled at the little green man and bowed to make it clear the entire Galactic Alliance stood behind such a hefty bribe. They were an organization poor as dirt, especially compared to the Empire, but apparently our pride demanded we matched the offer. Luckily, the rebels didn't really do their commercial shipping out in the open, so that meant technically they could significantly short the Rodian on his cut. That pleased Davis and somewhat approved his opinion of the Jedi as apparently they were able to be conniving, too.

Heh. Beacons of Light, kiss hairy Bantha-buttocks if you still believe that!

The Twi'lek took the disk out of Mid's hands and walked out, heading back for his ship so that he may do whatever he usually did on a daily basis. This had been a special occasion, but now it was time to get back to business. The commerce guild didn't run itself—though with the amount of funds they'd just gotten, it may as well.

Meanwhile in the room, Rax thought for a moment, visibly rubbing his chin as he mulled over the two offers. One of the Sith piped up, and the Rodian burst into laughter, unrestrained and perhaps a bit condescending.

"Whichever side gets me more money!" he chuckled, then rubbed the bag the Jedi gave him as if to make a point. Credits jingled within, and the Rodian looked inside just to see how much they'd given him exactly. He was not one to let himself be conned, and cautious as ever now, with both rebels and Sith trying to earn his allegiance. Noting the holodisk, he flashed the Jedi a knowing look and then turned his head back to face the whole group as a whole.

"Gentlemen—" he looked at the Drast, "—and lady, this has been a most productive meeting. Your terms greatly please me and I'll accept your conditions...or whatever fancy wording I was supposed to use. Speeches have never been my thing." He rose from his seat and regarded them all with a salute. "I'll be taking my leave now."

The Rodian stepped out without another word, heading down the corridor for the exit. The Muun came in shortly after, his eyes scanning the chamber to ensure nothing was out of the ordinary. "Shall we move on to the next meeting?"

Mid chuckled a bit at the man's response. Their offers were music to his ears and his response was music to Mid's ears. The Rodian took the bag and Mid caught the look he gave the Jedi. They were definitely up to something. He might have to corner her about it later.

Typical Jedi, always sneaking about...oh the irony of this situation.

The Rodian finally accepted their offer and bid them fairwell. Mid stood up with a smile and gave a bow, holding one hand over his stomach and the other behind his back. "Mister Galivars, it's been a pleasure doing business with you." he said proudly and turned to the exit. The Muun from earlier came in to intercept them, asking about their next meeting. Mid dug in his cloak's inner pocket and pulled his datapad out. His eyebrows raised at the time. He had expected to be busy for at least an hour...they were only in there for a couple of minutes. He put the datapad away and looked at the Muun. "Yes, please. Let's not keep the other representatives waiting. Who shall we speak to first?" he asked the Muun.

Markov gave a friendly grin as he watched the Twi'lek leave with the holodisk, and the Rax stood up and gave a short appreciation. "Thank you for letting us discuss these relations with you, Rax... It has been a pleasure to stay here..." he said politely as he headed out of the room. As he disappeared from Markov's sight, the Muun had returned to the room and asked if they were ready for the next meeting to occur.

"Definitely... Let's meet these representatives to keep the business ongoing. Who is wanting to meet with us next?" he asked as he waited for his response. He looked over at the Drast Jedi and the Rebel with curiosity. Their willingness to work alongside the Sith impressed him so far, as well as impressing himself by being able to work with a Jedi and Rebel. This would probably be the last day that this would happen in his life, and maybe forever, but he hoped that the calm atmosphere would remain a continuity. He appreciated today; not just that they were benefiting the Empire, but that they had put down differences and worked together instead of killing eachother. This would be a contrast to Markov's usual antics, but perhaps this entire exchange would better him socially; after all, he wasn't much of a social person, despite being able to play politics and diplomacy proficiently.
