The Sensory Protection allows helmets to polarize quickly and prevent temporary or permanent blinding affects common with flashes of light. The same function also protects against damaging affects. It manages these effects to a bearable degree. Bright light will still cause squinting but prevent sun spots or lasting effects and loud noises will still be startling or detracting but allow the wearer to still hear everything else perfectly fine afterwards.
