The Sacellium Temple, Illum, Late Evening 2300

Markov had arrived on Illum calmly and quickly on his personal Patrol ship. He donned his less armored, but thick robes, as he left his ship; he’d hopefully not need them. Peering in the distance from the landing site, he could see a sacred structure about 100 meters away, but the blizzard like weather of the area would make it difficult to see clearly. The air was colder than Markov remembered when he obtained his first self lightsaber’s kyber crystal, which he’d use on his belt for his defense and offense.

Markov treaded through the snow and the cold. Feeling the chills, but his wear would keep him warm enough to not be physically hindered by it. He was here to join the church which he was told about, as well because of the leader of it. He remembered the conflict that occurred not too long ago in the party too well, and inferred that the religious leader had retired herself to this planet. He was here to gain knowledge for himself, and create a new ally within the Order, cementing his status and increasing his social protection. Markov was nearing the entrance now, as he peered above to see the grand architecture in the deep, snow covered mountain.

Markov entered the temple, and felt the air warm up slightly. He made a straight beeline for the inner sanctum area of the temple, taking the surroundings in as he transversed the main hallways in solitude. He wondered where and when he’d meet the head priestess to meet her formally and to make amends from the party. He wanted to learn from a powerful one and create a new relationship that could potentially benefit himself and the overall empire. He entered the cavernous Inner Sanctum...

As Markov headed to the Sacellum built into the icy walls of Ilum, he would be met by several armed Sacellum guards who were patrolling the glaciers. They did not approach him, but they did keep watch in case he had maleficent intentions. The guards were used to Sith coming and going from their temple, but that didn't mean they wanted to leave it defenseless. That was a mistake Eriana Fox would only make once.

Inside the temple, he'd see a large atrium with many floors all made of stone and rock, decorated with holy symbols of the Church, and also the Sith Empire. There was a large alter in the back of the atrium with rows of pews arched toward it. Around the room were several more guards in the same armor as the ones outside, but a few church members also in their own customized version of it; theirs was less formal and possibly even not a full set (choosing pieces of the suit rather than the full; it was heavy armor after all and not everyone chose to dawn such restrictions to speed). A few of them however, were not wearing armor and instead wore cloaks over their normal clothes showing they had no intention of fighting, or even fear an attack would occur here.

Coming to greet him, a yellow skinned Twi'lek dressed in black bounty hunter gear would approach with a bow. She had two pistols on her belt and plenty of pouches that likely had grenades in them. It was clear she was always ready for a fight. "Greetings, my lord Sith. The Head Priestess is not receiving guests at this time. Would you like to be shown to a room until the morning?"

In one of the many back rooms there would be a chamber specifically for the High Priestess. She'd arrived only a day before Markov and had not left her bed since. Cries of anguish and pain could be heard randomly throughout the day, but they'd mostly calmed down now. Those that waited around her wing would see medical droids coming and going, but otherwise no one else would be granted passage. The reason for this was because the girl was grieving. She had not lost anyone in the sense that they'd died, but she had felt like her heart was ripped from her chest by a lover who no longer cared for her.

She'd gone to a party only a few days ago, closer to a week now, and there she'd been scorned by her lover and his friends who all took turns insulting not only her, but her church. To retaliate, for she could not stand by and take their foolish insults, Eriana called forth a powerful ice storm using her connection to the Force. She made her point and the blizzard was called off, but not without it's consequences. Returning to her ship that night The Confessor found that she was several cases of frostbite upon her arms and her face. She's gotten a little bit of nerve damage as well and repairing it was very painful. She had to get a few implants in her arms to make everything respond right, hence the pained screams.

Markov came across the guard as he greeted her. Although she told him that the Priestess would not be accepting appointments today, he wanted to know what was going on. Distantly, he could hear the agony and miserable emitting from where Eriana was residing. He felt bad for her, simply put. She left the party insulted and sided against. He had to even side against her to keep his alliances in check, but he both hated the treatment towards her but also felt like overreaction was not completely necessary. "I understand... I don't want her to be in such agony especially after a rough night...' he said this in a way to try to make his voice louder. He wouldn't mind going to bed now, but he wanted to meet Eriana now to try to get her insight and try to make her feel better. This was one of the first times since he became a Sith that he felt compassion and empathy. He legitimately felt bad and guilty, but he knows that her outburst still should be accounted for.

He nodded at the guard as he waited for directions; from her or if Eriana came out.

"Madulla!" cried a voice from the inner chamber. "Who is out there!"

The yellow Twi'lek would turn when she heard her name. She looked to Markov and gave him a gesture to stay where he was. She then hurried over to the door and peered her head in. They began speaking in harsh whispers, but Medulla would then bow and leave the doorway (leaving it ajar). Returning to Markov she would bow her head, "Lady Fox will see you now."

Making sure to keep an eye on him, she would follow after and give suspicious looks to the guards stationed around the hall. Just in case. As Markov entered the chamber he would see much of the decor was like the rest of the Sacellum. Only this chamber Only much higher walls and a symbol of a red fox painted on flags above the bed. The large king-sized mattress took up the middle of the floor. Behind it was a fireplace, and to the sides were pillars supporting the walls. In the far corners there were makeshift windows opening up to the lower regions of the caverns below them. To the right of the bed, Markov would follow a trail of steam where a large bath chamber had been carved into the rock. This is where he would find The Confessor.

Sitting along the back wall of the bath and facing straight ahead was Lady Eriana Fox. Her black hair was soaked and dangling down in front of her face. It made her look three thousand times creepier looking like that when he knew that she was a Sith. Her body was most submerged, save for her shoulders and the smallest sliver of her chest. She wouldn't raise her head to look at him, nor would she bother parting her hair. There was no need for she was well known for being the Blind Sith.

"Who are you?" she said coldly.

Markov had been given permission to enter The Confessor's chambers, which he entered with Madulla. The grand chamber was marvelous for a bedroom, despite being in such a cold place in Illum. He'd follow a path where steam was being emitted until he discovered the location of the person he was looking for.

She was along the wall mostly submerged into the tub, her hair soaked in water. Her face nor expression didn't move, and Markov knew how unique she was as a force user, let alone a Sith. He was asked who he was, and he obliged quickly, inspecting the room briefly before turning back to Eriana.

"I am Markov Aletaus, and I am a Sith Crusader... I appreciate you for letting me into your stateroom..." he said, keeping his focus at her.

She was the Confessor indeed, and she was well known throughout the Empire, and now he finally got to meet her formally. If he had a title, then perhaps it would be called The Manipulator, but he hadn't completely earned it, nor he'd probably want to have such a paranoid title to his name.
"I have come to learn from you to gain knowledge and strength.. and to make sure you're fine after the party..." his concern for her was obvious. He felt that it was right to make sure she was fine, and he'd be even willing to make her feel better especially after such a miserable night.

As Markov introduced himself, Eriana still did not move. But she would reply just as quickly and in a not so pleasant tone. "State your business, Crusader Aletaus."

Eriana was used to people coming to her, coming to check out the Sacellum and what it had to offer. It was a strange thing to rise up in the Sith Empire. A church? A religious sort of place that worshiped the Force rather than owned it? While it wasn't too uncommon to see such a thing done in off worlds by cults and the like, the fact that this was an Emperor-approved sort of establishment meant there must have been something worthy to its name.

But Markov then added in that he'd come to check on her. And as clear as it was that she was far from fine, she would never admit it. A powerful Force user admitting something was bothering them? Showing weakness? Never! She'd scoff and flick her hand some making the water ripple. He'd catch the slightest of looks of her frame under the water as she did before the steam covered it back up.

"That party was a foolish excuse to drink and tug on each other's pride. I have no such need for trivial relationships. My church here is enough. Have you come to join our ranks then, Crusader Aletaus?"

Markov stares while she responded in a brisk tone. He knew Eriana was strained, but this didn’t stop him.

He was asked for his business and then her testament about the party. She was right, and it was his fault and he hosted it. It was a party to expend on the pride of new promotions, and rivalries estranged the relationships and speciality of the party. It was obvious why he came. Markov wanted to learn and expand his power with the cards he is given, and Eriana and her church was definitely a good way to develop such. “I have come for knowledge. I want to learn from one of the more powerful Sith that is currently in the Order, and your church is the gateway to that. I am willing to join this church in the name of the Dark Side, and the Sith...” he said.

Markov observed the room in total; the steam rising and disappearing, her appearance, and the general ambience. He was here to make an ally that could hopefully help his endeavors as well as hers. He didn’t want his actions at that party to stab him later. Markov despised the social alliances that had formed across the order, and he wanted the empire unified to complete the agenda easier. To him, this was just the first step.

The Confessor listened to the man's story, explaining he'd come for knowledge. Not just from the church, but from her as well. He was kind to flatter her with his words, but she knew they were only that: words. His friendship with her was only a means to an end that would benefit him later. Such was the way of the Sith. But she wouldn't call him out on it. It was still a challenge for someone to say kind and praise to another, and that effort she'd reward.

Moving to the other end of the tub she'd start to rise up from it not being modest at all about her lack of clothing. She would however, call a black robe from the side over to her and wrap herself in the fabric while letting her body drip dry. The Confessor took a seat next to her bed in one of the chairs and then offered him the other.

"We have several rules here in the Sacellum that need following. Though they are simple in nature, they must be followed. First off, you must understand that all here within these walls are equal. I am no stronger than you, nor are you better than any of your new brethren. The Rule of the Strong is a plague on the Sith and breeds betrayal and mutiny to its ranks. There will be none of that here. Second, as such, there are to be no fights between you or any other members. Here we are equals. And we honor the Dark side by understanding that we are its children. Third, and most important, you will need to forget everything there is to know about how you understand the Force."

Eriana would push some of the hair out of her face and sweep it all back behind her head, "Tell me, Crusader Aletaus, what do you think you know about the living Force?"

After he spoke, The Confessor soon responded to his statement, where he requested to join for knowledge. She began to get up from her tub, briefly being in the nude before she summoned a towel to her, which she wrapped around her dripping body. Markov followed her out of the bathroom and back into her bedroom, where she sat down and gestured him to a seat beside her. Sitting relaxed in the chair, he heeded Eriana's words about her Sacellum's lifestyle. The rules she had in store were understandable, and mostly agreeable to him. He hated the infighting that plagued the Sith Order constantly through out its history. The infighting made the "Rule of the Strong" a rule that didn't work as intended, because instead of unifying the order under a strong, it would create the mutiny inside and prove the Sith to be weak for being unable to stay unified and have a truly strong leader. Then again, the Rule of the Strong had caused some of the most prominent and powerful Dark Lord of the Siths to ascend. Soon, The Confessor stated the third rule of her church, which partially surprised him but he didn't: he'd need to forget his previous perceptions of the Force. She was right; in order to learn he'd need to move on and build his understanding of The Force from the ground up.

"I accept..." he said, but then he was asked about his current perception of the Force. What he thought he knew about the Force and how it worked. Did he really understand the what and the how of the Force? Most likely not, but he was here to learn it through the Sacellum. He responded with an explanation of his current idea.

"The Force is a extremely mysterious conduit, living in every being in the Galaxy. It is a foundation of what contributes to creating life... and ending it. The Force is a metaphysical thing, being something both graspable, but at the same time barely comprehensible... We as the Sith use the Dark Side of The Force for passion... to gain strength... as the Sith Code states. Being sensitive to the Force means you can manipulate it to your will, to use to manipulate both living and non-living. The Force lives... and then it is Death that makes someone One with the Force..."

The Confessor was glad to hear that Markov was indeed open to accepting her rules within the church. They were very easy rules to follow, though what she would likely tell him next was not so much. The blind Sith had asked him how he felt about the Force and he began to explain his own beliefs. The Confessor liked hearing these things from her peers. She could go back and forth on philosophy all day. Was her answer right? Was it wrong? No one could know. Not really. But so long as they -as well as herself- were opening to listening to other frames of mind then she would get along with them just fine.

Markov would explain that the Force was mysterious. Truer words had never been spoken. He understood that the Force was in every living being as well as what made up the universe as its foundation. A clever concept some often forgot. It was able to be used, but not entirely as a physical entity. While this was true, it wasn't technically what she was looking for in terms of an answer. Not that she complained. There were no wrong answers here.

He then moved on to explain how the Sith used the Dark side. It started in passion, used for strength. This is what the Code said and many took it to heart. This was the brunt of the subject she really wanted to get into with him. This is where The Confessor differed from her peers. This is where the church taught things much differently. For Markov, like every other Sith The Confessor had known, believed that Force sensitives used this metaphysical power and manipulated it for their own purposes. A smile kept up on the blind Sith's face as he brought it up.

"While none of us can ever know the truth," she explained, "I do believe the Sith have been wrong for a very long time." The blind Sith would then hold her hand out and start cultivating the Dark side in her palm. It was nothing more than a shimmer in real light, but in her Force-imbued vision it was a black flame that danced and swirled like an orb.

"The Dark side is a path, just as the Light. And while there needs to be a balance between the two, there must also be a balance inside one's self. This is what I have come to believe. The Rule of the Strong has poisoned the Sith religion since it's making. Acolyte after Acolyte have abused the will of the Dark side for their own pleasure and greed. Consider this, say the Force is like a fruit tree. If we take and take and take, then there will be no fruit in the end. But, if we use the Force sparingly, and replant the seeds, more trees will grow. Am I wrong?"

She let that thought linger for a moment before she continued, "While it's not a perfect metaphor, the principle is the same. Sith had drained the Force and pulled at it from every direction to use it for selfish gain." The Confessor would now release her energy and the essence would die out. "I believe the Force is a living thing that exists in ways we cannot comprehend. I believe, that we should be thankful for where it comes from. This church is about understanding that connection. We do not use it without first understanding that the Dark side is itself, a gift. We should worship that gift. We should praise the Force for giving us that gift.

"And while yes, I do understand the Force allows us to become stronger, it cannot be all that it is. Your brethren would have told you only the powerful can use the Dark side by bending it to their will. But who are we? We are just children in this large galaxy with no hope of understanding what lies beyond. What gives us the right to think we can control something...as you say, metaphysical? By honoring the Force for what it is, we can celebrate a stronger connection to it and use it for the good of the galaxy. Not just the selfish greeds of the emperors past.

"What I am asking you, Markov Aletaus, is to allow the Dark side to guide you. Only use it when you feel it necessary. And be thankful when you do. I'm not going to ask you to pray as much as I do, but that you should be open to that ideal. The Dark side has given us so much. We must give back. And the first step is not abusing the power yourself. Is this something you can do?
    "

The Confessor finished her rant and would wait for Markov to sort all that information out in his head. She was asking him something no other Sith would. Could he actually believe in what the temple taught? Could he open his mind to thinking things differently?

Markov's perception as of The Force continued to the change as the conversation progressed. The Confessor began to speak of her opinion of Markov's answer, as she both agreed and disagreed, adding on to what he stated. At one point, she displayed a dark side essence as she began her analogy. The analogy spoke of how they must not use the Force for personal gain, but sparingly in order to grow the ability. "I agree... We cannot abuse the Force as it leads to negative greed..." he said as she continued.

The essence in her palm disappeared as she continued to philosophize about the Living Force.
"The Force is above us... We are blessed with the ability to use and synthesize it, but we must be able to connect ourselves closer and let The Dark Side guide us to the proper path..."

Markov comprehended her analysis of the Force as he sorted his thoughts, and then was asked one ultimate question is if he could commit to these actions. "I am able...I shall open myself to the new perception and mind towards the Dark Side... I will learn and honor the Force proper..." he said as he eyed the blind Sith, his posture relaxing. He hoped that his dialogues would be acceptable to the leader of the Sacellum.

While The Confessor could never truly know what someone was saying or meaning, she had a pretty good way of telling when someone was lying to her. It was part of her gift in some ways, the subtle changing in heart beats, the saltiness in the air that she could taste when someone began to sweat. All of those little things added up and when she began taking on the roll of The Confessor she used it to further her interrogation techniques. Markov did not appear to be lying, but he could also be a really good tell. To why though he would lie to her made no sense. So, she had to assume he was honest in his answers.

"Then you shall have a place here," she said with a proud tone. "So long as you follow to those believes you will do well here, Initiate Aletaus." The Confessor would then stand and slowly make her way to the door. It seemed that little bit of walking even gave her some trouble. "Come. Tomorrow, we shall explore the caverns and I will explain the Baptism rituals to you. For now, we shall have Madulla escort you to the bed chambers."

Opening the wooden door she would wave for the yellow Twi'lek to return. The Confessor repeated what she said to Markov and nodded with a bow to her mistress. Turning back to Markov the blind Sith would then say her farewells for the evening. "Go and get some rest now, Initiate Aletaus. The caverns here get cold, so be sure to grab an extra blanket."

The Confessor neglected to mention it was her own aura that was making the chambers so cold. When the place was finally built the furnaces worked like a charm (so long as you were actually in a room with one of them). But now, the hallways were as bad as the caverns down below where the sun never helped to warm the floors.
