DESCRIPTIONWith the success of its cousin, the C-55B aka M-wing, the A-72 Aklay was put into production. The cost of making the former had high risk high reward for the company. But the A-72 does not have the expensive military grade power cores or fancy deflector shields. Instead the company recognizes that pragmatic combat roles and after market modifications are becoming more common place. Instead focusing on providing the better base characteristics that would not be harmful to the production costs Burnin Koon Shipwright came up with maximizing the speed of the ship for it to both outrun and chase down targets. These powerful engines do have a drawback and force the ship to not be as maneuverable as many of its counterparts, having only average capabilities. The only stock armament are two forward facing light laser cannons on the wings and a dual light laser cannon on top being mounted on a turret with a three hundred and sixty degree view. This allows the gunner to fend off targets that are on its tail as well as maximize firepower on those ahead of it. While this is somewhat less fire power than what most starfighters have on the market the versatility of directional options is something that no other starfighter has. The Aklay does possess a rather capable class 4 hyperdrive. It was either that or a deflector shield but the ability to travel between systems was decided as being more important in stock models than the protection of light deflector shields. It comes with a paired navicomputer and ejector seats for the occupants. Enough space inside the ship for the pilot and gunner to interact but little else. LEGALITYRestricted. In civilized systems, pilots must be properly licensed or be members of recognized armed groups. INTENTTo create an advanced and high performance starfighter that isn't AT just because it has multiple AT upgrades on it but the base stats are what make it AT. I plan on my GA/rebel character using this ship if/when it gets approved as well. Is meant to compete with the Dagger class starfighter and the M-wing for different reasons. ADVANCED TECHYes. Aklay-class starfighter is a high performance strike starfighter. Having combined characteristics of generic starfighters all on the same ship does put it above most starfighters. The ship reaches its true potential with upgrades and as a result is not an acquisition that does not warrant further advancement and tweaking. As a result requires a tech plot of 3-4 threads would be required to earn one. However, since the Galactic Alliance has access to Burnin Konn's shipyards, rebel characters can obtain one for 2-3 threads.
