How do I know if a name is taken or not?

It probably isn't. There are thousands of starwars names, in fact, there are sites that produce random starwars names. It probably won't be taken as long as it's not canon.

I've seen some names here that I've used, but I think it would really suck to have to look through every characters name on the site.

But I dunno, I was thinking maybe Gabriel Winters as a name. But I know Gabriel could quite possibly be taken.

So for creating a profile, I noticed that one of the forms includes a little stat thing I guess as a reference to the characters basic abilities.

Strength:
Dexterity:
Constitution:
Intelligence:
Wisdom:
Charisma:

As the character progressed, these can change right? Such as if a characters leg gets cut off or something, or they become more adept in one area?

I never thought of that, but probably. Just as long as you have at least one weak stat, you won't get abused. But that's more a basic guidelin, rather than being used for anything important anyway.

Those two are the biggies. Helped me alot back in the day. Also, if you don't understand something, the people with Red or Green names, are always extremely helpful and are usually willing to answer any questions you have. If they can't answer your questions, Brandon Rhea knows it all. Well... him and adroit. (yeah they have red names as well.)

If you can't find any of them... well Im pretty active, so I can at least point you to the right place.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Jace craze, it means that someone will say is Jace coming, and I can get in on the RP before they realize I'm not the Jace they were lookin for :harhar:

Anyway, say I wanted to make like a jedi character. Looks to me that I half to get trained by someone. It says that you may start out as a jedi/sith hopeful if say your uncle or whatever trains you, but you must still get trained.

But what if I didn't want to have the jedi uncle that trains the character? How do I go about getting a character to be a jedi and gain a master if he or she isn't entirely aware of his potential, or the jedi?

Your best bet is to create a character and state that they were taken away from their parents at a year old for evaluation and training. Then say something about how you were placed within a large class with a Jedi Master leading it...think Ep. II with Yoda and the children....when your character starts the RP, you'll undergo more personal training with a Jedi Master...one on one training.

Once your character is set up, then go to the Jedi Faction area and Request a Master from the Jedi Council. There's a link where you can add your name and then a master can train you.

If you'd like some more advice, which I can tell you don't, then what you should do is this.

step one! Learn how to either blank out, or openly welcome madness/randomness
Step three! Learn how to use your own randomness to your advantage
Step five! Don't ever let anything mean or hurtful people say here (or anywhere for that matter) get to you.
Step seven! Forget the even numbers. They're for losers.
