THE STAR WARS RP
STAFF JOB DESCRIPTIONS
In November 2007, the staff of The Star Wars RP decided to implement specific responsibilities for staff members, grouping them into titles that will allow them to know what specific duties they are to perform when overseeing the website. The intent was to fix the problem of having inactive staff members, many of which were inactive because they felt there was nothing for them to do. This was contrary to active staff members who lock threads, edit posts, delete spam and do everything else they are supposed to, whereas inactive staff members would historically say that by the time they came online everything was taken care of.
Prior to November 2007, similar proposals had been put forth twice, but they were not as specific and essentially only included the proposal to create a Head Administrator position. In the approved and current system, all staff members have duties and titles, though no staff member, including the Head Administrator, outranks another. The only exception to this is The Star Wars RP Owner, who has final say over decisions if he so chooses.
The following are the official staff positions of this website. It is the feelings of the staff that this will give every staff member a job to do and will help improve the quality of the work we carry out. It should also be noted that all Administrators serve as Out of Character (OOC) board Administrators, as there are far too many issues and threads in those boards to put it into the hands of one or two people. Along with the explanations are also the names of those who currently occupy these positions.
Star Wars RP Owner(s)
The Star Wars RP Owner is, as the title suggests, the owner of the website. He has paid for the operation of the website, or has paid for the majority of it in a case where donations were solicited to keep the website running at certain times. Although the Head Administrator is the de facto leader of the website, the Owner has veto power over decisions, though it has rarely and will rarely be exercised as it is essentially saved for extraordinary circumstances.
The Star Wars RP Owner is Steven Alldis (Jetzt).
Technical Administrator(s)
The Technical Administrator is responsible for dealing with all technical aspects of the website. He or she will deal with any issue ranging from design, coding and the Administrative Control Panel. The Technical Administrator will also deal with vBulletin, which is the host of The Star Wars RP, when the need arises. As with all other staff members, the Technical Administrator is welcome to participate in staff discussions and vote on voting issues, though it is not required.
The current Technical Administrator is Hassan “awoc02” Abbas.
Head Administrator
The Head Administrator is mainly responsible for maintaining good, effective and efficient staff-to-member relations by keeping them informed, particularly in regards to staff matters and rules, by keeping a positive attitude and by setting a good example both in the Out of Character boards and in the role-plays. The Head Administrator is also responsible for being the voice of the staff and ensuring that the staff is running efficiently and effectively. Though the position holder is essentially the leader of the staff, he or she does not have any influence over any staff members and the staff still decides things through consensus.
Per the discretion of the Star Wars RP Owner, the Head Administrator also has the responsibility of officially appointing staff members once the member nomination and staff voting processes have been carried out. He or she can also remove staff members if they are inactive or deemed ineffective, though the Owner can overturn such decisions if there is disagreement.
The current Head Administrator is Brandon Rhea.
Role-Play Administrator(s)
It is the responsibility of the Role-Play Administrators to moderate the role-play boards, which includes the main story board, the diverse role-playing area, the role-play archives board and the out of character role-playing discussion boards. Role-Play Administrators are also meant to help solve problems in role-plays whether they be about duels, battles or just general issues that may arise. However, if one of the Role-Play Administrators is involved in the disputed role-play, then another Role-Play Administrator must be contacted in order to avoid a conflict of interest. Role-Play Administrators should also serve as Battle Moderators during battle.
The current Role-Play Administrators are Matt, Nexus, Ols and Rasputin.
Faction Administrator
Faction Administrators are in charge of overseeing the workings and happenings of the factions on The Star Wars RP, including the main factions and all independent factions found in the Independent Factions board. It is the responsibility of Faction Administrators to coordinate information with faction leaders and to ensure that the faction leaders have every resource that they need to run their factions properly. They also oversee the independent factions and manage approvals for them. Faction Administrators must also settle disputes between factions when they occur outside of role-plays.
The current Faction Administrators are GR1M and Lavi.
Staff in Training
Those who are new to the staff are considered to be Staff in Training, which lasts throughout the duration of a two month probationary period that begins immediately upon their appointment to the staff. This is meant to determine if they fit in well with the staff and if they can adequately perform their duties. During this time, they are responsible for helping in all aspects of administrative duties so the staff can see how well they can perform tasks that may fall upon them. They will be aided by veteran staff members who will guide them through it and show them the proper way to handle situations.
If at the end of the two months it appears that they have not learned from mistakes and cannot effectively handle being a member of the staff, their time on the staff will end and they will not be granted full Administrator status. However, if they show that they have effectively handled situations and can adequately carry out their duties, then they will be given full Administrative rights and will be assigned to be either a Role-Play Administrator or a Faction Administrator depending on what best fits their talents and abilities.
Currently, there are no staff members in training.
