[Jedi Sanctuary]

The unlikely arena chosen for this specific duel was an old abandoned Jedi Sanctuary. A temple of sorts that had been left vacant, allowing the natural vegetation to take back what was probably once its own. The interior architecture was magnificent to say the least, though this is typical of almost all Jedi Temples. It seemed that for all the Jedi ideals, in the end, the Jedi were still fairly arrogant, enough so that they believed their enclaves should be immaculately decorated. Hypocrites. They know nothing of what it takes to truly achieve justice and restore peace. Peace... that in itself is a form of hypocrisy.

A small metallic object went zooming across the main foyer, lights flashing all over it. It was a holorecorder, floating around, ready to start broadcasting immediately once the combatants arrived and the duel began. A crowd obviously could not stand by in a high riser to watch this one, they would have to suffer a holo.

Most of the rooms were lit with only a dim light, which added to the eerie atmosphere of the quiet sanctuary. The Other stood just beyond the front foyer, waiting in the darkness, waiting for his opponent. He was hidden from plain view, right hand with a grip on the handle of a katana strapped to his back, left held close to the pistol at his side. His face was completely hidden by a breathing mask, and his entire body clad in matte black armour. The Other was part of the darkness.

"Goddess guide my hand," he whispered.

Rios Surgate strided into the huge room. He looked around and scoffed, "Huh, Jedi sure live it up don't they?" He looked around the dim room and didn't see his oponent, but he didn't expect to. From what he knew of this guy he was a master of stealth and close quarters combat.

As a little insurance Rios had brought a pair of vibro knuckle-dusters. The brass knuckle like weapons slipped over his fist and also had a vibrating blade that extended out from the back, so that he could slam down with a hammerfist and use the blade. He put them on but picked up his gun, this baby would be his main weapon. Behind his skull like mask Rios grinned, "It's time to lock and to load."

The big man's words drifted through the air. Arrogance. Flaunted arrogance; the worst kind. Mercenary. Many sins. The darkness would have no trouble with swallowing him, it would accept this one with a warm embrace.

Out from the sheath on the Other's back came a small glint of reflected light. His opponent would more than likely notice, especially after a figure in the dark rushed forward, the glint disappearing and reappearing as a sword drawn and was thrust forward, aimed at his gut.

Rios saw the glint and moved surpirsingly fast for a man of his stature.
"Whoah!" He yelled. He slapped the blade aside with his armored forearm and winced as he heard the blade screech across the platings on his chest armor.
He swung a large haymaker with his left fist as a decoy and jabbed his right fist at his opponent's stomach. He didn't expect either one to connect, he was looking to buy some time.

This man may have been moving fast for his stature, but he was slow compared to the one in the black suit. Though speed certainly wasn't everything. The Other easily dodged the hay maker, as he saw it coming from a mile away, you have to wide those things up. They're obvious and clumsy. The jab, however, he didn't even bother with, it just resounded off his tight, form-fitting suit of matte black armour. Instead, he slipped to the right and cartwheeled around his opponent, moving quite a bit faster than the big brute. In a flash, the Other had flicked the switch on his katana that turned it into a vibroblade and threw all his strength into a horizontal slash aimed at the big man's backside.

((That's some pretty good armor, Rios is strong enough to put dents in metal.))

Rios felt his punch bounce off and was shocked. He then saw his opponent become a black blur and, realizing what had happened, bent back just enough so that the katana merley cut his fatigues and drew a thin line of blood.
Rios yelled at the pain, "Why you little....."
He turned towards his opponent with his machine gun up, metal slugs spraying towards were he thought his opponent was. Rios kept his finger on the trigger until he heard the thirty rounf magazine click on empty.

OOC: Yeah, it's pretty strong, but that was only a jab. Jabs aren't really meant to be strong punches, they're supposed to be quick. Multiple jabs are used to overwhelm opponents, set them up for something like a hay maker (aka a strong punch)... lol :P.

IC: A gun. That is what this man hoped would take him down. Well, he was wrong. Slugs could penetrate through flesh, shatter bone and still come out the other side, but none of the shots fired would even touch his skin.

The black armour was lit up, slugs pounding into it, some bouncing right off because of the angles, but for the most part, they just delayed the inevitable. The majority of the bullets missed him completely, the others were met with quite a bit of resistance. The matte black armour was not merely for looks, it was meant to deflect slugs. Enough could wear it down and penetrate through, but the wearer was sure not to let that happen.

The clip was emptied. "Mere metal bullets cannot stop the knights of Shalharra." With that, the black-clad warrior rushed forward, his footsteps silent, his voice quietened, but the hum of the katana in his hands cried out for blood. There was no armour in the galaxy that could withstand the sharp edge of a vibroblade, not even his own. Down, down came the strike, a vertical flash of steel; head to toe.

OOC: If it deflects off, we're going to have a problem. Just letting you know. Slugs are one thing, but a vibroblade is a whole 'nother ball game.

OOC: The knife Rios has is also a vibroblade and he is very strong. Also, your guy should have been slowed down slightly from the mere imparct of the bullets. The kinetic force should have pushed him back at least, even if they didn't penetrate.

IC: Rios saw the blade coming down and reaching up his slammed the blade of his vibrating knuckle duster towards a small articulation crack in his oppoent armor, at the wrist holding the sword, with all of his strength. Twisting at the same time to get out of the way before the sword hit him, incase the armor was enough to stop the knife, which it shouldn't be.

OOC: It did. I said it only delayed the inevitable. I even had him stop and say a few words after it, then rush forward. But, could you please clean up your post and explain what you just did, lol. Bear in mind, you cannot just say you grabbed my wrist or anything, as in role-playing, you attempt to grab somebody's wrist.

Niner

OOC: I said I attempted to stab your wrist, and twisted at the same time. I will try to clear it up a little for you though.

Edit: I changed it to towards, which is what I meant at first, sorry for the confusion.

"reaching up his slammed"

IC: Too slow. The black-clad warrior saw the big man's fist come out, with some sort of blade on it. Instead of following through on the original strike, he shortened the stroke and cut on an angle, keeping the momentum and instead brought it down to bear on the big man's outstretched arm. Right now, this was a battle of speed and pure melee combat; something the man in black excelled in; something his opponent did not.

Rios screamed as the katana cut off the tip of his left pinky figner as he retracted his arm. That was the last straw. Rios reached down and took out a stun grenade and threw it at his feet, closing his eyes for a second when the blast went off.

The stun grenade did nothing to the man in black. If the big man had been paying attention, he would have known that. He was wearing a dark mask, even his eyes were covered by a tinted shield (see profile picture). So, instead of reacting to the sudden blast of the stun grenade, the black-clad warrior gripped his sword even tighter, and thrust out a sudden forward stab, aimed to disembowel his opponent. The man wouldn't be able to move fast enough this time, they were already so close to each other, and all it took was a blink of an eye to miss the movement.

OOC: A stun grenade does more then just blind people, it also emits a powerfull wave of sound. Rios was expecting it so he wouldn;t be able to hear for a short while but it wouldn't surprise him. I don't think that nifty armor of yours has aural dampners, cause that wasn't specified. It should throw him off alot.

Why would a loud noise throw off a trained killer who doesn't flinch at the sound of a gun being fired off right next to his ear? A stun grenade is not surprising. Taking away the blinding powers of a stun grenade basically makes it nil in this instance. I would still have done the exact same thing.

EDIT: Oh, and I could have gone with the aural dampeners, but I decided against it. In my first RP with this guy, I had them...

Niner, his profile pic appears to have a guard around the ears, and a stun grenade (if you mean a flash bang rather than a shock grenade that would actually send a shockwave into both of you too) isn't that powerful. And at that range, Niner, without a helmet, your eardrums would probably burst. People seem to think knowing a grenade is about to explode somehow makes them "ready" for it so it doesn't affect them as much. You would still be disorientated. A soldier who sees a flashbang thrown would still expect the explosion, and he would still be disorientated by it. Expecting a grenade does nothing to the effect it makes upon you. Argue all you like, but my opinion in the GT won't change. All grenades effect everyone, no matter how ready you are. Tech can save you, but "readiness" cannot. End of.

But Kurt bear in mind, a direct hit from a slug, despite not piercing the armour, probably still would transfer it's kinetic energy into you and throw you back.

When Rios opened his eyes he saw the blade coming for his stomach. He knew there was only one thing left to do and he lunged at the man, bringing his chest into full contact with the his opponent's. The sword sliced through Rios stomach and came out his side. In the arena this was called the "Dual Death". Rios intended to take his opponent down with him or kill his opponent and maybe get medical attention soon enough to survive. Rios snapped his neck foreward in a surprising headbutt, the metal mask he was wearing leading the way. At the same time he began to attempt to pummel his opponent's sides with his knuckledusters.

At this close of a range the man shouldn't be able to bring the sword to bear at Rios and all Rios had recieved was a small nick in his side. Rios snapped his neck foreward in a surprising headbutt, the metal mask he was wearing leading the way. At the same time he began to attempt to pummel his opponent's sides with his knuckledusters.Sorry, but you would have had to dodge around the sword, which is kind of impossible. Otherwise, you just impaled yourself on it.

Rios snapped his neck foreward in a surprising headbutt, the metal mask he was wearing leading the way. At the same time he began to attempt to pummel his opponent's sides with his knuckledusters. The head-butt was surprising. He hadn't expected this brute to just ignore the pain and keep coming in a last ditch effort to kill him. Their heads smashed against each other, the kinetic force sending the one in black backwards, making him let go of his sword and flail about trying to protect himself. The knuckle-busters came at him as well, but not fast enough to cut all the way into his sides. They groped wildly in the air, and sliced open the front of his black suit, blood flowing out almost instantly. It was a shallow wound, not a fatal one.

He drew out his blaster pistol and fired off three quick laser bolts, right around the area in which the katana had impaled his stomach.

Rios hands started shaking from the pain as the three bolts hit him, luckly they were mostly abosrbed by his armor, as the flailing man hadn't been able to aim right. Rios set his mind and picked up the dropped katana. He looked at his opponent through vision rapidly turning red at the edges. He then hurled the katana like a spear straight at his opponents chest with all of his strength. The wounds in his opponents side should slow him down enough so that he couldn't dodge it. Rios then dropped to the ground and propped himself up on one elbow to see what would happen.

The black-clad warrior saw his opponent withdraw the katana from his stomach, and knew instinctively what was going to happen next. He rolled to the left, still firing off shots with his blaster. His aim would ring true now, he had gotten his balance back, and was under complete control of his movements. This fight was over, now it was just up to the big man to realize he was indeed dead, there was nothing he could do to halt the wrath of Shalharra, the almighty Goddess.

The bolts hit Rios chest but the armor kept abosrbing most of the impact. Rios quickly slammed another magazine into his gun, the adrenaline and his rage were the only things keeping him alive right now. Rios then turned and aimed at the spot were his opponents armor was broken. He let loose a hail of bullets, all of them aimed at his opponent broken armor segment. Then he dropped back and stared at the ceiling , he hadn't the strength to look at his opponent and see what would happen. He only hoped that he wouldn't die here, looking at the ruins of a temple of those high and mighty Jedi.

Again with the bullets? The man in black watched as his opponent once again loaded his weapon, blood still pouring forth from the wound in his stomach. He didn't have much time left, as he was only running on adrenaline now. The man in all black cartwheeled once more and then spun around, so that only his back stood against the barrage of slugs. He stumbled forward, farther away from the big man as the slugs pounded into his back. Most missed, just like last time.

Silence filled the ancient room of the Jedi. There was now nothing but the hard breaths of the big man heaving on the floor. The black-clad warrior spun back around and rolled, picking his katana back up and thumbing on the switch to keep it vibrating. He was a black blur, rushing forward to finally finish off his opponent, lashing out with a killing stroke that would behead the man. This was it; this was the end. There was no possible way to dodge or deflect the blow. He had sustained too many injuries, and had been bleeding for far too long. The man clad in black was still in his prime, just getting worked up, while the big man had been mortally wounded. This match was over.

OOC: Let's not drag this out any farther. Just admit defeat.

Niner
05-18-2008, 11:29 PM
Rios grinned when he saw the bullets miss. When the black clad man came towards him Rios just laughed in his face, blood starting to poor from his mouth, "You can't kill me."

Saying this Rios lifted his blaster pistol and, putting it to his own temple, pulled the trigger.

((I'm out in the first round? -sigh- Oh well, I wish I had been able to go against someone a bit easier then a bullet proof, super speedy, and immune to almost every attack man in black. But hey, we all have our bad days. Good job.))

The Other wins. Niner, stop complaining. There was no godmodding on Kurt's part. Lock.
